Its a misconception that he Statue of Liberty is a woman. You can tell if you pull up his cloak.
ОтветитьFlourolithium silicates with. Itridium like allotropic tourmaline gather light from around the cylinder and a c axis alignment focuss the beam . Better projection of a laser for lighting ...
ОтветитьI remember hearing a joke about a ship that saw an oncoming light, and demanded the oncoming light turn off, but the other light source sent back a message to the ship that THEY should turn instead. So the ship sent back, "This is an important shipment and can't be delayed. We will not turn. You move."
The reply was swift, "Acknowledge you are an important ship. We're a lighthouse . Your call."
I do believe a lighthouse killing four people in in 1: 11 is in a movie. Need for speed
ОтветитьI bet they still taking the tax money lol they definitely didn't lower any taxes, that never happens
Ответить💪
ОтветитьPeaceful is all I can say . Basking in the ambience 🇺🇸😇
ОтветитьInteresting how they put up lighthouses in areas prone to wrecks, which is often the same reason we install new traffic lights.
ОтветитьThis was one of the best-written episodes I've watched. That ending was just beautiful! As an aside, any of us who are old enough to have had a pager/beeper IMMEDIATELY knew what "1-4-3" meant, before it was even said, LOL!!
ОтветитьIm i light house lover.i collect miniatures.calendars picture etc.ironicaly i never been in one! My dream is to visit at list 10 ! My bucket list ❤just to look at a light house give me hope and peace!
ОтветитьAnd now they're officially obsolete because of GPS. Kinda sad. I love lighthouses.
ОтветитьInternational Chimney Corp that moved the Cape Hatteras is out of Buffalo. We stood five feet from the tracks while it moved one inch per minute. Amazing.
ОтветитьSo much for flat earthers, sorry but the earth is not flat
ОтветитьHey history channel I love the animation you make it’s very good
ОтветитьLong Island has GREAT Light Houses, Montauk my Fav. Yaphank checkin in.
ОтветитьI already figured it out. It’s all about keywords. Trying to manipulate your mind. But it doesn’t work. Once again because I’m not naive. How exactly it works, haven’t figured it out yet.
ОтветитьThis was amazing, thank you so much!!
ОтветитьLove stories of haunted lighthouses 👻
ОтветитьGrowing up in south Louisiana we didn't have lighthouses but my grandmother always collected lighthouse themed knick knacks. So now i have them all years later and i love lighthouses just as much. I've always wanted to own one.
Ответитьfood for thought.modern light houses will tell you where you are on charts by the time between flashes.
ОтветитьPerry’s memorial light in Ohio on Lake Erie is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen I’ve been to many lighthouses over the years and that one stands out to me
Ответитьi like light houses :3

Nobody ever mentions the most shown lighthouse in the show. Scituate Harbor light.
Fantastic video!! Please reaffirm this video so people in the future can see it.
Ответитьare lighthouses still used today,
ОтветитьThis was such a poetic episode of Modern Marvels, it caught me by surprise tbh
ОтветитьNever told what turned the lense around in the ones before electricity. All this time and left out an important thing, POOR REPORTING.
ОтветитьA wonderful program showcasing America's neglected lighthouses. Automation has threatened to erase our precious history. Through restoration projects funded by the National Lighthouse Association and volunteers and fundraising our history is being preserved for future generations.
ОтветитьThey must have not rotated till electric was used. Unless they had so sort of heat engine.
ОтветитьI miss the old History Channel that had fantastic programming like this! Everything on the History Channel these days is trash.
ОтветитьI drove a 1969 VW bus down highway 1 from Cape flattery Washington to San Diego California we stopped at every light station along the way.
ОтветитьLike the lighthouses, Modern Marvels have been a lighthouse to education. Showing the history and development of nearly everything. They may be replaced by other things but their interesting and informative format will never go out of style. I only wish they would keep producing and updating them for new generations.
ОтветитьGreat video!
Ответить“World wah two”. Love that accent!
ОтветитьIf ever we suffered an Electro Magnetic Pulse weapon, i hope there is a way these Light Houses will stand as a testament if when ever mariners and pilots need them , with or without the advantage of having Electricity aid us to navigate safely home.
Ответить\m/ I miss quality shows like this.
ОтветитьBack when the History channel posted actual history...
ОтветитьImagine a Light house that has a 1 & 1 characteristic, however, the color of light can be changed out depending on weather conditions. Yellow could be calm, Red could be a gale/storm, and white can be fog/whiteout/ Red & White could be a Hurricane, and so on and so forth.
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this documentary. Tomorrow, I'll have a lighthouse tour from Staten Island! I learned a lot here already! 🙏
Ответить"we had cigars and cigarettes, when they were okay for you" 🤣
ОтветитьFaisal📶🚮🚻🚹🛗📳❤🔥
ОтветитьAt 37m30s, it talks about LORAN using satellite technology to broadcast distress signals... I'm thinking that whoever wrote this script know NOTHING about LORAN...
ОтветитьI miss these shows, too bad History Channel became what it is.
ОтветитьWhat an excellent and informative episode, especially for an up and coming lighthouse enthusiast like me. This was a joy to watch, although not one lighthouse from my state, NJ, was showcased. There's much history to NJ's east coast lighthouses i.e. Barnegat Lighthouse, Navesink Twin Lights, Absecon Lighthouse (Atlantic City) and the Cape May Lighthouse. I'm happy this showed the move of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse; that truly was a "modern marvel" of it's own.
