ОтветитьI love black licorice
ОтветитьI am an active 37 year-old female who is normally very healthy. In mid September 2021, I started drinking 2-4 bags of Yogi brand Licorice Root tea to help me quit sugar (because the tea is naturally sweet). I ended up in the ER on Nov. 3rd with a blood pressure of 177/? and a heart rate of 30 beats per minute. The doctors put defibrillator pads on me to be prepared. My potassium was dangerously low. Long story short, I was in the hospital for 4 days and almost died. My heart rate was between 30-40 bpm the whole time. I kept wasting (peeing out) potassium even when the doctors gave me potassium supplements. The worst part was the doctors never figured out what was wrong with me and diagnosed me with hypothyroidism (because my TSH was elevated which was also due to the licorice root as licorice root is also a phyto-estrogren and affects the body's hormones). They didn't get to the root of the problem (pun intended) and discharged me on the 4th day after finally getting my potassium up to barely acceptable levels for a hot minute. I had crushing chest pain again that night and full right side body weakness and felt like I was having a heart attack again so drove myself back to the ER. My potassium was dangerously low again. After a brain MRI, the doctor determined I did not have a blood clot in my brain but that something was going on with my nervous system too because my left and right sides were showing big differences. I was discharged again and prescribed potassium pills.
I had to go stay at my parents' house after being released from the hospital. My heart rate was still between 30-40 bpm (it was 30 every night while I was sleeping). I was told to just keep taking the Levothyroxine for thyroid and that my heart rate would come up. I knew deep down that that wasn't the issue. My thyroid was fine. I had blood tests for TSH, Free T3 and T4 45 days earlier and they were all normal. Also, hypothyroidism doesn't cause low potassium. On the 4th day being home, I was making my licorice root tea (which I was also drinking in the hospital) and my intuition to me to look more closely at the box. There was a warning label on it not to use it for more than two weeks. I did some Google searches and found out that licorice root toxicity matched all my symptoms. I stopped drinking the tea immediately. I continued to waste potassium every night and had to supplement and it was really scary because I never knew where my potassium levels were at and I also didn't want to take too much potassium. I also felt like I had a brain clot. The right side of my body was much weaker. My pupils were different sizes. Every night I didn't know if I was going to wake up. I called an ambulance a couple more times when I got low on potassium and had chest pain, etc.
Fourteen days (approximately) after stoping the tea, my heart rate came up almost 20 beats per min. My resting heart rate was in the high 40s - low 50s finally. I stopped wasting potassium. All of this was great, but my body was still severely injured. It constantly felt like everything was moving around me, like it would if I had just been on a boat for a long time. Even when I was laying down it felt like the world was swaying. My heart rate and my blood pressure would change dramatically from laying down to sitting to standing. My body was dis-regulated. My autonomic nervous system was not functioning well. My symptoms were still so scary that I had a friend drive me to the ER on Thanksgiving of 2021. I wasn't dying the doctor determined and discharged me. This whole time was so hard for me because I felt like things were still seriously wrong but the doctors couldn't figure it out.
It's now been 5 months since I was in the ER. I'm 80% better. I'm able to workout hard, don't feel wobbly when I'm walking, and my right and left sides feel pretty equal now. My body still feels like it's not circulating blood super well but not all the time anymore. I still have a lot I'm working on, including liver cleanses because my liver took a beating form all the toxicity.
Please learn from my experience and warn everyone you know. Licorice root is super dangerous! I was innocently drinking Yoga Licorice Root tea and almost died from it. The tea affected my cardiovascular, endocrine, nervous, muscular, and digestive systems and it's taken over five months to recover. I don't want this horrible experience to happen to anyone else.
I’ve tried those licorice bites before i don’t know what they’re called but they tasted like cancer
ОтветитьPerfect example of how consuming too much of anything can be dangerous.
ОтветитьI’m sure he was already unhealthy on top of that
Ответитьomg i love it , esp with chocolate
ОтветитьWhere can I buy pure licorice candy? I don't want artificial flavours..
ОтветитьSad. man.
ОтветитьBlack is healthier and more "natural' PERHAPS THIS DOCTOR CAN EXPLAIN HIS "AMOUNTS' as in grams or ounces for us some time ? A " FAIR AMOUNT ?" THIS PATIENT depicted ate an ENORMOUS amount ! We love black liquorish hoping there's SOME root in there; low on sugar etc....Would someone please explain what is meant by A LARGE AMOUNT and a SMALL AMOUNT ?

ОтветитьPretty good way to die if you ask me.
ОтветитьHow much is too much?
ОтветитьWelp, this is kinda worrying considering I'm sitting here with two nearly empty bags of black licorice
ОтветитьYou can die from drinking too much water
ОтветитьThey need to look into this more because nobody’s eating black licorice because they want to
ОтветитьCool. People making fun of his death.
ОтветитьSalty
ОтветитьWhy can’t u just east something with high potassium afterwards?
ОтветитьIn Scandinavia we just love strong licorice from a young age and can't imagine why the rest of the world (mostly) doesn't too.
But what a pity this guy died from eating what was too much for him. R. I. P. man!
Not a threat to humans he was clearly an alien as no sane man would have eaten that much black licorice. It’s disgusting no you don’t like it you feckin liar.
ОтветитьShould have eaten plenty of bananas and potatoes on the side.
ОтветитьI love black licorice
ОтветитьVittu hevonpaska. 🙄😂
Ответитьme watching this while eating black liquorice
ОтветитьI’m seeing this after been eating lots of it
ОтветитьThe only reason why licorice toxicity happens and low potassium is because the heart medication you put them on doesn’t work well with licorice, only reason. Which is widely documented and should’ve been brought up before he was prescribed it, or truth of the matter should’ve never been prescribed it at all.
ОтветитьDJUNGELVRÅL I EAT IT EVERYDAY AND IM ALIVE
