I played Link to the Past on the switch and ngl it was the first older Zelda game I ever beat, idk I think I just liked the 2d gameplay that still had good pixel art

not sure why I got here. pretty sure there are two zelda games, Zelda 1 and link to the past. they made some shitty spinoffs particularly in the 3D era, but Zelda and Mario just don''t work in 3D..

I wasn't getting where you were coming from, with your list until you said you didn't like link to the past but loved ocarina of time.

the issue is you think Ocarina of time works. you think Zelda works in 3D. you think Zelda EXISTS in 3D.

it does not. there are only 2 zelda games, Zelda and Mario do not work in 3D. haven't actually tried Metroid in 3D those happened much later, would say the side scrolling metroid didn't really work in the first place. so maybe 3D metroid is better.

I suppose thats the real thing. all 3D zeldas are a failed experiment. equally bad, will no play. they even got so tired of it, the newest 3D Zelda is a physics game instead of a Zelda game.

The big thing that divides Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword for me is the gameplay. Both games have great characters and story, but I always preferred how Twilight Princess played. I didn't care for the linear feeling of Skyward Sword, even though it tried to pull off a more exploration-focused concept (like gathering materials to upgrade weapons). Controls were also a bit wonky at times, and just felt unnecessary. I think in the end there are no bad Zelda games (except those on a specific Phillips console), but Skyward Sword is always one I've never cared much for personally.

Interestingly, motion controls were not intended to be the way you control Link, at least not at first. According to an Iwata Asks, there was a back and fourth between Shigeru Miyamoto and producer Eiji Aunoma. Aunoma felt more comfortable with a more traditional control scheme, but Miyamoto insisted on using the WiiMotes capabilities. Then Wii Sports Resort and the Wii Plus motion accessory were shown off and Aunoma was convinced to use Motion controls

Actually, I really loved the Oracle games.

As someone who has played Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, I think they're really fun and they both have great stories and characters (like come on, Linebeck is a legend). Its a shame how underrated those two games are.

I despised wind waker. And I actually liked it's graphics. I think wind waker was insanely boring. What is that!?!? Oh more water. Granted I despise sailing in general and find it boring. The only game I hated worse was Majora's Mask. Majora's mask is garbage.

Honestly, i think majora's mask is my top zelda game, too. The thing about botw and totk is that, while they are both excellent games, and would be my top "zelda" game, they really don't play like zelda games, despite obviously being zelda games. Majora's mask on the other hand definitely fits in the category, and it is a fantastic game that is one of the zelda games i would replay just about whenever

You are entitled to your opinion and you are entitled to change your opinion. There is nothing wrong with this. Personally, I wouldn’t mind if you created a new list every year based on how you are feeling at the time.

I don't really like TP.

I still agree about ALttP. I played the game in my 20s and, after already having played ALBW, I couldn't help but think that it has been outdone in a lot of ways, at least for me. I think I like ALBW, MC, and LA more than ALttP as 2D Zelda gamws.

My problem with Windwaker is definitely not the graphics, but I think that PBG's criticisms of the game as being too easy and the combat being boring for 3D LoZ (on top of having no nostalgia for it) make me rank it lower than a lot of Zelda games.

I never played Skyward Sword, though it seems like the kind of motion controls that I would like. It's just that at the time, I REALLY didn't want to buy an add-on that I was having a lot of trouble finding to use for only one game.

I'm glad to hear such love for Minish Cap, as that's long been a favourite of mine!

Skyward sword is so amazing, I don’t know how anyone can hate the game. The story is so amazing as well.

You know what I’m defending your past self for Twilight Princess, he had ONE good point. It was very dark, I remember playing the Wii version and not being able to get past the Fire temple simply because I couldn’t comprehend the environment well enough. And when the game has to inform you that you may need to change your tv brightness, I think that’s a problem. Especially when you were me using a tv that had its remote missing and there was no way to adjust the brightness on the tv without it. Is it the worst Zelda? Far from it, but that one thing was at least decent criticism. One that would be remedied by the HD Port
