PLEASE READ THIS, trawler is not environmentally safe for are oceans anywhere! These big money trawlers catch what is called “by catch” it’s every other species that there not allowed to catch, what happens is they fish they cannot keep have been dragged across the ocean and end up dying no matter what, a single trawler can claim 1.2 million pounds of by catch (usually more cause they try to hide it) that’s 1.2 of damage injured fish that will not survive after being dragged Across the bottom of the ocean! Alaska fishing industry is being destroyed over these big money trailers and no one will listen !

A century or more ago, there used to be a commercial hunting industry taking place. Deer, turkeys, ducks, and of course, buffalo were almost wiped out in North America. Commercial fishing still hangs on. As the worldwide human population grows, and as formerly poor third-world move into the middle-class, the pressure on fish populations level grows into unsustainable levels. Eventually, the ecosystem will balance itself out, at the expense of us all. Get Ready!

Well, not a single salmon in Puget sound is indigenous to united states' rivers. All of them were fished to Extinction. Current salmon were implanted to restore the runs once destroyed. I was shocked to learn such a disgusting thing from Salmon university that's been tracking it since the beginning, let's not forget a dam on every river killed billions of fish.

Sounds like figuring out how to use the bycatch is the elephant in the room nobody wants to put much effort into dealing with. Avoidance is great, but once you've caught and killed those fish, wasting them is stupid.

We can only imagine, in today's corrupt environment, how much of that data the government is collecting is actually real. I was wondering how much money those government people receive from the fishing companies to make those numbers look as good as possible. Never trust a bureaucrat.

While mention was made of the depletion of target fish due to overfishing, nothing was said about the destruction of almost every structure on the bottom of the oceans by weighted bottom trawls. Many of these structures are fish nurseries which are destroyed and affects all fish growing there, not just the targeted fish.

I have been watching this video and at times wondering, do we really consume that much fish? I do realize that certain countries of the world have a diet based on seafood too. Still, it seems as though profit is the actual driving factor not feeding the world
When I was a boy, (1950's) there was a massive commercial fishery based in my home town, Cleveland, Ohio. They went after what is called "Jumbo (yellow) Perch". Any other fish was considered exotic and expensive. Industrial pollution of Lake Erie and other great lakes ended when large amounts of mercury was discovered in all great lakes fish. So, over fishing is not the only cause for concern. ;-)

I dont see what difference it made that dolphins were caught in seining nets! We have to eat and were at the top of the food chain! We have to do what we have to do! These stupid scientists who have never done these jobs want to come up with all these restrictions and all this garbage taht ends up costing these poor fishermen tons of money and time that they dont have! I dont care if the stupid sea turtles become extinct! You cant eat them and they contribute nothing to the environment! So what if they become extinct! And as far as overfishing is concerned, let the small ones go so that they can reproduce and give us more fish to eat!
