The Ford V8/60 engine was the alternative to Offy's and performed incredibly well at a lower cost than the Meyer Drake Offy. Great to see this in the UK. In later years when sourcing V8-60's in Australia became more difficult, the Simca Vedette side valve V8 was often interchanged,, Trying to get a Vedette engine now, is just as easy as locating hen's teeth lol.
ОтветитьWell done Ivan…it seems strange for you not to be recognised by the drivers…if only they knew your history! I once saw a young track Marshall talking to John Surtees at Castle Coombe Circuit and not having a clue who he was. He gave JS some instructions on how to drive an MG TF (1998 version) and told him to be careful to do a few slow laps to get used to driving a sports car. JS looked suitably grateful and climbed in slowly displaying elderly back ache and a bit of confusion. He then looked a bit puzzled and the Marshall offered to help him get comfortable and show him the controls etc. Then time to go off on his first lap…..which JS started by flooring it straight off, threw it sideways, burnt some rubber then did three laps at full race speed before coming in with smoking brakes and a very hot engine. Getting out of the car, JS went up to the Marshall, thanked him and said “Its a bit slow isn’t it…” 😃😃😃😃😃The young man looked stunned.😃
ОтветитьAnother very enjoyable video you were certainly soaking up the engineering despite the lack of tea.
ОтветитьBut did Susie ever get her cup of tea?
ОтветитьDid Susie want a tea or a pee? 😂
ОтветитьTHanks so much. I hope Suzi did eventually get a cup of tea.
ОтветитьGreat video folks. That "Muk Junkie" is insane! A seat with a Chevy engine bolted on. Those sprinters look quite different to what we have in the US, but have a lot of the same tech on board. Thanks, Ivan and Suzie.
ОтветитьGreat to see Ivan so motivated, Stock cars have always been a true grass roots, working mans motorsport. I remember going to Hednesford raceway in the Midlands when I was younger. I seem to recall that F1 Driver Derek Warwick had a background in Superstock racing. Those autograss minis are getting pretty serious bits of gear, nice engineering! I could tell Ivan was taken with the young mini driver, if only the age and wisdom from Ivan could be channeled through the young and energetic!
ОтветитьWhy this and Coldwarmotors don't have 100K subs each is beyond me!
Ответить👍🇦🇺
ОтветитьAn LS in a Mini is beyond crazy! Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьThe english sa he's dead and the yanks say he's passed ---funny.
ОтветитьHerding Ivan is like herding a cat. ❤❤
ОтветитьThat was so different from your usual racing cars 100% caught Ivan's interest ,Suzie did you ever get that cup of Tea ?.and Ivan remembered how to finish subscribe and like ,Thanks Suzie loved the video.
ОтветитьPoor susy has to keep ivan headed in the proper direction, those cars are magnetic to ivan
ОтветитьStrange the young driver didn’t realise he was speaking to a racing legend 👴🏻👍
ОтветитьThe 500 horse engine is a late model ls engine,
ОтветитьGreat episode. Better get Susie a cup of tea ! Thankyou.
ОтветитьI hope you got your cuppa Susie!
ОтветитьI raced Brisbane f2 cars back in the 70s . Seeing Howard Cole’s car number 511 in the background brought back lots of memories. That car was beautifully built and prepared. I would love to see it again. Thanks for all the videos
ОтветитьWonderful once again.....little tip Susie.....don't say you are going for a cup of tea because petrol heads can't switch off from taking info. Just get one; start drinking it in front of him and his "want one" mentality changes immediately.
Once again thank you.
Thank Ivan. As usual I enjoyed it all. Jill
ОтветитьIt's as good as it gets, when you can go to an event like that and walk about amongst the competitors cars, have a "butchers" and have a "nag", have a cup o tea, (that's if Ivan can tear himself away from lookin' and naggin'), then head home, you've had a great day. Thanks Suzie and Ivan, always nice to spend some time with the "shed racing" crew.
ОтветитьGood to see you back on form, Ivan. Thanks for your patience, Suzie.
ОтветитьAnother great video. Those cars and the engineering that went into them were amazing. Cheers
ОтветитьLoved the enthusiasm of both Ivan and William - motorsport is a common language whether you’re 15 or 85
Another great video Suzie
Great video😊Ivan (as always)
Thank you 😊😊😮
Ivan. "He's older than me"
Suzie. "He might be dead" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Young bloke doesn’t know how famous Ivan is 😂 hopefully he looks him up later
ОтветитьYes, Suzie definitely not so enthusiastic about the stocks...but what a treat!! I used to know a guy called Steve Monk, used to work for my grandfather. He all of a sudden became World Champion one year...racing at Arlington and around the south. That was in the late sixties. I loved watching all the various forms of stock cars...especially the Bangers. Great to see this. Thanks.
Ответитьthe young guys battered mini was start of show for me ! 😀
ОтветитьAll the same, but slightly different😆
ОтветитьJebby 384 from Denby Dale it was part of my youth in the last 70s I was about 4 years old and still love it
ОтветитьInteresting machinery.I get the impression that Ivan wasn’t well known in those circles which probably gave you both a more peaceful day.
ОтветитьAlways great to watch hear you tell the story of the day!! Thanks Susie! Cheers, Alberta Canada
ОтветитьJebby 384 used to wear pinstripe overalls to go with the Rolls Royce grill
ОтветитьIs the Jag v12 Mini still going ? as i saw that many times in Sussex,
ОтветитьIt’s a measure of Ivan that he can chat away to a fifteen year old as if they are close chums. Thank you for yet another great video. Hope Suzie got her cup o tea 🎉🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьYes- why isn't the sun shining?
ОтветитьReally enjoyed the video. Many thanks Suzi for trying to keep him in order
Ответитьsee big wheel Micky Rooney your midget? Golden Comet ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,flims cheers
ОтветитьYet another brilliant video. Fantastic to see such cars as Aubrey Leighton's No 42 and the Wild Kitten. Agree that the good old boys were something else.
Keep up the good work, we need it.
Suzi, you're a patient marvel ! You wanted your tea and Ivan wanted to look at the cars and you let him win! Who says women get their way? lol Thank you for taking us along for the ride you two!
ОтветитьThis was fun watching Ivan's geniune excitement. Don't think wed ever see Suzy bombing around the track in one of these though.
ОтветитьGreat video. My brother and I used to go to Auto Grass and Stock Car races with my dad when we were kids. It was relatively inexpensive and always offered plenty of excitement..
ОтветитьGlad to have you back! I was having withdrawals!!!! Lovely episode and terrific engineering of a racing genre I wasn't really familiar with since my stock car youth at Wasaga Beach raceway around 1963! Great stuff. Cheers 🤓
ОтветитьHi Ivan, I was the gentleman who you spoke to about the Chevy engined mini, it’s owned and run and maintained by Phil Cooper, glad you liked the car it is a work of art which Phil races hard. If ever you want to know more feel free to give us a shout. Be good to see you at a Autograss meeting soon you’ll be made most welcome. Regards Barry
ОтветитьAnother great video, thank you both.
ОтветитьWhere "crumple zone" is never mentioned...
Ответить
