I love how you think this stuff applies nationally. Codes vary state by state. KY doesn't follow IPC at all. Don't need a cleanout on a stack coming out of a slab in my state. Not in residential. If that line backs up you're not taking the cap off in the basement to cleanout that stack. You're gonna pull the toilet. If that line is clogged ahead of the cleanout then that cleanout is utterly useless. The moment you pull that cap off you will have an unholy mess in a basement. There's a million things in my state that will fail an inspection in KY. KNOW YOUR LOCAL STATE PLUMBING CODE.
ОтветитьInformative video but at the end he should’ve noted different hole size charts for different structural members as in I joist and glue lam. It just goes to show experience and work hours is the best teacher.
ОтветитьExcellent
ОтветитьThank you for this awesome video, I learned enough to know I should call a professional for the pluming in my basement.
ОтветитьI dumbfounded at the amount of terminology I picked up from this one video. Knowing what to call things is the hardest part of learning a new trade/skill/field of interest.
ОтветитьBoy oh boy. You saved me some money… and time… and a headache. Thanks homie😎
ОтветитьGreat job❤❤
ОтветитьThe G.I was wro g should have stubbed up in 3" just in case you wanted to add a loundry sink? No more 2" drain. Had a guy hit my plate. So he gets a bigger screw and drill. Got through the plate. TAKE CAREVOFVYOUR BODY master plumber who's body is destroyed.
ОтветитьWhere is it code that the standpipe has to be 2 inches? Isn't the minimum 1.5?
ОтветитьI have been a plumber for 15 years. I have found there are 3 types of inspectors.
1.)The inspector that will fail everything the first go at your work and will subsequently pass everything after.
2) The inspector that passed everything as long as it looks right.
3) The inspector that will just look around and either pass or fail depending on how his/her interaction with you goes.
I have literally had inspectors fail my work, I report that changes were made (when non were done) and a reinspection was ordered. And I passed. 🤷.
I actually pointed this out to one inspector and after showing him he passed the same work he had just failed 2 days prior he then red tagged the entire job site. I actually had to go to court and testify over it.
I honestly am glad that inspections happen. Just wish there were honest inspectors.
FUCK THE CODE ! I DO WHATEVER I WANT ! IS MY HOUSE . I BOUGHT AND THE CITY DIDNT GIVE TO ME ! CODES ARE TO TAKE YOUR $
ОтветитьWhat software is this?
ОтветитьHehe in 3rd world country
Ответить!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьI like this gay he making the video he very experience for plumbing. But please we need some videos for gas line classes
ОтветитьTHE REASON THEY DON'T ALLOW A T-FITTING (T-Y) ON THE HORIZONTAL (FLAT), AND WANT ONLY A Y-FITTING ON THE HORIZONTAL. IS FOR SNAKING REASONS. IF YOU GET A CLOG WITH THE T-FITTING IT HAS NO DIRECTIONAL PATH. THE SNAKE CAN ALSO GO IN THE OPPOSITE WAY FROM THE CLOG. THE Y-FITTING IS DIRECTIONAL AND ALWAYS DIRECTS THE SNAKE IN THE DIRECTION OF THE CLOG. IF YOU USE A TEE FITTING AND THE SNAKE KEEPS GOING THE OPPOSITE WAY YOU CAN SNAKE IT A FEW HUNDRED TIMES HOPING IT GOES IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND IT MY NEVER GO THERE, WHICH WILL LEAVE YOU WITH ONE CHOICE, WHICH IS TO BREAK UP THE FLOOR GIVING YOU GRIEF AND COST A LOT OF MONEY. THE CODE IS WRITTEN TO PROTECT THE HOMEOWNER FROM THESE PROBLEMS THAT CAN ARISE IN THE FUTURE AND ALSO TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF PEOPLE.
ALSO RUBBER JIM CAPS ARE ILLEGAL FOR USE. THE CODE REQUIRE A CAST IRON CAP FOR A REASON. IF YOU USE A RUBBER JIM CAP TO CAP OFF A LOCATION IN THE A PIPING SYSTEM WHICH IS NO LONGER USED AND DISCONNECTED. WHERE THE T OR Y FITTING WAS LEFT IN THE LINE. AND LET SAY THAT CAPPED OF TEE IS IN THE WALL AND YOU SNAKE A CLOG FROM A APARTMENT UP ABOVE AND THE SNAKE GOES INTO THAT CAPPED OFF TEE WITH THE RUBBER JIM CAP. IT WILL PUNTURE THE RUBBER AND ALL THE SEWAGE IN THE LINE WILL DISHARGE CAUSING DAMAGE AND A FLOOD. THIS IS THE REASON TO USE A CAST IRON CAP. BUT THE INSTRUCTERS IN THESE PLUMBING SCHOOLS CAN'T TELL YOU WHY WHEN ASKED, JUST LIKE LIKE THE T-FITTING BEING ILLEGAL HORIZONTALLY. THEY ONLY KNOW THE CODE BUT NOT THE REASON. IF YOU KNOW THE REASON WHY THE CODE IS WRITTEN THAT WAY. YOU WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE CODE. WITHOUT THE REASON YOU WILL FORGET THE CODE. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE LICENSING BUEREAUS WHEN THEY TEACHING THE CODE. THE TEST SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE THE REASON WHY THE CODE IS WRITTEN THAT WAY WHICH WILL MAKE FOR A MUCH BETTER PLUMBER.
Very nice instructional videos. I like watching your videos to help me improve my knowledge and skill level. Very impressed with the smooth and clear speaking of a complex technical dialog. A master is distinguished by making difficult tasks appear easy. Great Job 👍
ОтветитьPlumbing is one of many areas i leave to the pros, mistakes by the homeowner can cost you big time ( i learnt that the hard way many years ago)
ОтветитьWell I mean my bathroom sink drains into a bucket under the sink so lol
ОтветитьIn the case of a retrofit island kitchen sink, you often need a cheater vent. Please comment on its proper installation. Thanks for the great video!
ОтветитьWhat do you mean there's no way to unblock the event of course there is and obviously that demonstration right there was on the second floor because there's no reason to have two other vent pipes coming out of the ground attaching to the main event which I think that's under code as well I don't believe you can put two inch and a half vent pipes into what looks like a 2in vent pipe as well as their running horizontally whereas vent pipes must run no less than I forget at least run at a 33 and a half or 45 degree angle vertically so I'm sorry I can't believe anything you say now
Ответитьwhat is the name of those code you mentioned?
ОтветитьPlumbing is trickier than most believe
ОтветитьShort sweeps are the long 90s. The 1/4 bend is the shorter 90 that’s not allowed on waste.
ОтветитьThere’s no single code. It’d help to mention whether this pertains to IPC (“East coast”) or UPC (“west coast”).
ОтветитьGreat video information ❤very educational,🇵🇭🫡
ОтветитьGreat video. Gotta go change out that short throw 90 now
ОтветитьGood video. I recognized your voice immediately from pressure pipe videos - where your tip on using tinning flux and silver sol for lead free joints restored my ability to replace a leaking copper valve in a tight-crowded basement ceiling. I almost went out to buy shark bites for that one. With plumbing, it’s never just one trip (or one store) for the necessary hardware. Great information!!!
ОтветитьHere’s how to pass. Don’t get it inspected 🤯
ОтветитьSome of these codes are not the same where I live. Over all good job but not all of these apply to everyone.
ОтветитьSomething I've been curious about is PVC to ABS transition joints using an approved transition cement on a fixture drain. While I'm quite well aware this isn't up to code, there doesn't seem to be an actual issue doing this, it would probably be better and longer lasting than an "approved" method of such as using no hub coupler. Would an inspector typically fail this? From what I have seen an ABS to PVC joint with transition cement is just as strong as a PVC to PVC joint, though not quite as strong as ABS to ABS.
Ответить#1 reason, I'm not a plumber.
ОтветитьAs I am modifying some existing pipes, the previous plumber did a lot of the following examples that would fail inspection 😐. Good to know before I lay the patio. Especially adding a good and convenient clean out access.
ОтветитьCode where? Codes are different everywhere.
ОтветитьVery good
ОтветитьYou might fail if you did these after the rules changed, but not if the work was done to previous code- this may confuse people.
adding dates to the program for when the new rules went into effect would help clarify this.
Also- personal gripe/rant - the steel plates meant to protect a screw from piercing a pipe or wire are useless... test against an impact driver... you don't even notice them when driving a screw through drywall. Adds complexity and cost without any real value. And you need to notch out a 1/8 inch to have a flush install of drywall atop of it.
#6 is wrong, you're not supposed to use a tee to connect 2 drains,
ОтветитьI would like to know if using a 4x4x2x2 double wye horizontally under slab would be acceptable for lave and tube drain
ОтветитьI learn something new, Recently I left my home for a week, with all window closed. When I returned I experienced a strong sewer smell in my second floor bath room. The only thing I can think of is a P-trap were the tube is because the sink and the toilet are seal off. Moving forward cutting dry wall and locate the tube P-trap all looked normal, no leak , no moisture. So I left the house for a week again, this time no smell or might just be little. Bottom line after watching this video, I think I found the root cause, The bath room and both bed room door they all automatically close every time I try to leave it open. This mean my house is tile or sink on one end causing water from the tube to pull from the P-trap faster thank normal is. This also explain why I hear water noise when the second floor toilet flushes. Any one have any idea how to solve this problem?
ОтветитьThis was really good. Thanks!
ОтветитьWhat’s up plumber. Great video and knowledge. Thank you
ОтветитьDude, you are awesome. Thank you for all your amazing videos.
ОтветитьGreat video except for the toilet placement error on ADA clearances.
ОтветитьEventually I see washers having to plumb in on a wye , sump pumps have to plumb in on a wye because of the pumping but they ignore the fact that a washing machine empties the same way, vie pumping not gravity
ОтветитьGreat video, I have a 2 inch vent which is venting a toilet. Would I be able to convert it to a wet vent and tie in a washer. Thanks
ОтветитьWay back many years ago the head of a building department gave me a great mental image of the use of short and long-sweep elbows. If you fall off a cliff it is fine as long as you have a gentle landing. Hence, you can use a short elbow, really a sanitary tee since you need it to vent at the top, since that is your rapid fall off of the cliff. But at the bottom you'd better have a long-sweep elbow or two 45s for that gentle landing. Since then I've never failed a plumbing inspection, at least for waste pipe. That isn't true. I did try to tie into an existing vent one time - much easier than running a new drain down. And the reason you don't want to do it is because the waste rushing past the existing fixture can create a negative pressure and pull water from the trap. You want every fixture to have free access to outside air via the vent, and you still can tie the vents together higher in the wall or in the attic, and provided you size the vent correctly have a single or maybe only two vents penetrate the roof.
