Did you know that 50% of people have an IQ less than 100?! :-D I know a many smart people, so there have to be a counterweight somewhere. And you'll find it among script kiddies. On my own server, Minetest, where cheating makes absolutely no sense there was a guy using the Dragonfire client. Instantly spotted that. I talked to that guy. „Your client disrupts my service. It is really trashing on the hard drive, so please don't use it. It's bad that this wasn't done better on this game, but it is not very competitive, so who cares. But I care about my hardware and the stupid idiots, who hacked this client did things they have no idea of, how they will influence the working of the server. If you want privileges and want to make yourself the game less fun, just ask me, your admin. But do not use this trash client, okay?“
I didn't say: „If not, I'll…“ But it worked. He made the game worse for everyone on the server with his trash client, so he went away after some time. I said: „You can use this trash on your own game server and destroy your own hard drive with that. But please not mine.“

See the thing is, that cheating is a condition humane, that is natural for our species and especially natural for kids. So talk sense into them and don't be authoritarian. We have enough of that in the real world already. If they don't listen, just click the ban. That's it. Be the server. Be the hardware. The hardware just removes faulty nodes and errors in the game. The admin never feels anything, he just does his job. He does what he must, he is a function of the service and guarantees the best game experience for everyone.
Cheaters are not bad persons. They might be stupid, but they are also some of the smartest. They are no bad persons, they just don't understand the game. And if they are resistant to a good advice, give them the ban. And nothing more.

I never insulted one of my players, not a legit, not a cheater. I just ban those who disrupt the service, because they are a threat to the service, nothing more. I don't put it against them. It is not stupid to cheat, it's natural. But if cheating is destroying the game, everybody will learn to play by the rules. If not, they are not qualified.

I know. This is less fun to watch for an audience, but it is respectful to the humans at the other side of the line. We all have to be dealt with dignity. Even in prison people don't get humiliated or abused. Do not abuse your power as an admin. Just ban them and do your duty. Tell them why you banned them. Offer a deal. Means a probation account, if they really want to play. Where they can earn your trust back. Where they can show that they understood. But do not humiliate them. That's not right, Anarchy.

Think about that. Most of them are minors anyway. I am a teacher. I can not do that to kids at school and I never would. Not because I'm forbidden to do that (of good reason) but because it's wrong and it doesn't make a better world. Swallow your pride. Be the admin, be sovereign, be a good king. And that's all. Do what you must. But don't enjoy it.

I find it very good how you first prove, that they are cheating. That's the right way. Don't assume. That's a good thing. But humiliating them isn't the way. Vilifying them isn't the way. They are just kids, man.
