Totally agree with your comments on the TPMS sensors!!!! We own a auto repair shop & we hate those systems on vehicles. 90% of the time when the light comes on it's only because the sensor is bad. But we still have people flipping out thinking they have a flat tire.

QUESTION: Maybe I missed something. The Black Tank recipe that you shared in the description is a wet formula. But in your video it was a powder. What did I miss? Thank you for the truthful video, I also find that simple is best because it's a repeatable process.

Thank for your insights and I’ve come to agree on most. However, I have to say that our inexpensive TPMS (less than $100) has absolutely saved us from blowouts at least three times over the past four years and 45,000+ miles. Each time the TPMS has alerted us to rapid air loss and gave us plenty of time to safely pull over without having the tire disintegrate and cause significant damage to our rig. I do wholeheartedly agree that TPMS doesn’t replace regular manual inspections and pressure checks. I do this at every stop for gas and we still had the misfortune of having three flat tires while going down the road.

I have so much glass in my kitchen! I agree, plastic feels oily all the time. I haven't had any breakge. I believe it all comes down to packing well, not overcrowding cupboards and being mindful of how you organize.

The Amazon sellers see what the price is, they go buy all of them and then hoard them and sell them. They do this at Dollar Tree as well, then the locals have nothing. There needs to be a law restriction on how many one can buy.

TPMS has saved my butt three times in the last 6 years while driving down the road saving my tires. Haven't had a blowout. And yes I inspect the tires before every tow. I have a ryobi air compressor that stays in the truck and if I need to pump up the tires it is easy to do. The TPMS isn't any different than the tire monitors on your vehicles. Do you check the pressure in those tires before you drive every time? No you rely on that system to warn you.
Also love my icemaker. I spend a day making two or three big ziplock bags and keep them in a Dollar Tree basket in the freezer. I fill a bowl from them that sits on top of the bags and is easy to reach into to get ice. They aren't for keeping on the counter making ice constantly Those three bags last me a couple of weeks.

You don't need rubber gloves but you need rubber gloves. You don't need water filtration system but you filter your water twice. You don't need black tank treatment but use these items to make your own black tank treatment. Got it.

I bought a collapsible electric kettle because I was traveling to India for business. I have a sensitive stomach and just wanted to subsist on ramen noodles. I packed a case of ramen noodles and used bottled water in the kettle at my hotel room. For that purpose it was great. So if you want a kettle I can recommend a collapsible plastic one.

Agree about the collapsible stuff. I’m in a truck camper so space is at a premium. I took someone’s advice about collapsible stuff and got a collapsible kettle and collapsible dish bins. I dislike them A LOT. I just changed to a stainless steel kettle and plan to change my dish bins. I use stainless plates and cups. I looked at ice makers after seeing people talk about them, but reviews say they come out damp and you have to put them in the freezer to continue hardening! What’s the point? At least I didn’t waste money on that.

TPMS - the used RV we bought had one. We've never hooked it up to our truck. I don't think I'd ever buy one on purpose.
Memberships - we're full-timers and spent a lot of time at RV parks for a week, a month and even up to 18 months because of our work. The one we did pay for was Escapees. Since we are full timers and do not have a permanent abode,c we were advised that the federal and state governments don't like you having multiple addresses in different states. So for us, Escapees was what worked best. Everything registered in Texas, DL in Texas, and mail to Texas. We would choose when to have it mail sent to us.
Collapsible - I have one collapsible strainer that I love. Have had it for 12 years with no cracks or breaks.
My Kindle is one of my very favorite things. I have hundreds of books and never add a single ounce of weight to the RV!
Gotta disagree on the ice maker. Love ours, use it every week. I make a bunch, store it in the freezer in one of those big 2½ gallon storge bags. Put the ice maker away until the bag is about empty. Now i will say, our factory installed double door old style fridge/freezer is crap. So i store pots and pans in it (yes it's disconnected). We bought a smallish sized fridge freezer, and put it where the dinner table used to be. (We never used that table..... Ever, except to collect crap on because it was a flat surface.
Weight/kitchen items.... You're spot on. I have ceramic coffee mugs, corelle dishes, and plenty of pots and pans. We compromise in other areas.
One final, funny story comment.... Our very first RV, we didn't know what we'd need. So we had clothes for every occasion. When we moved into a newer, slightly smaller RV 2 years later, I took approximately 700 pounds worth of clothes to Goodwill. We'd carried them around for 2 years and they never saw the light of day. So my tip there is, go thru your clothes and be realistic. We all have things like say t-shirts,v and we tend to wear the same ones. You don't need 35 t-shirts.
Oh.... One other thing for us.... Is the 1 in, 2 out rule. For every 1 new thing we bring in, we have to get rid of 2 things!

Escapees is my domicile address in Texas. Thousand Trails has allowed my to camp for around $12 a day for last 3 years. We drink our water, we spent $75 on 2 stage filter and the filters are not expensive. We filter 5m and the .5m much finer than camco. However, i agree with you general premise... figure out what works for you. (We have all glassware and normal dishes and bowls... zero breakage 4 years)

TPMS saved me from an RV blow out from Las Vegas to CA. Tires with perfect pressure upon leaving, 1.5 hours into the trip TPMS alerted me to low pressure allowing me to stop at a station rather than being stuck in area whereas there was no immediate help. 110 weather with two dogs, a flat or a blow out would have been a nightmare. Ended up being a valve stem issue on brand new tires. Also, had a blow out with my SUV after TPMS went bad, had TPMS warned me I would have been saved a blow out on a busy CA freeway. TPMS a lifesaver from my experience.

Nearly 3 minutes of explaining yourself before getting into the subject matter? Really? Right out of the box #1 I respectfully disagree with. A lot of time again spent justifying your opinion. I agree with snap pads. Move on, we’re convinced. RV TP is a waste of money. Black tank treatment is a toss up. Home made Surfactant recipes abound. BUY GOOD GLOVES and they won’t break. I see no point in hauling around used gloves that you used to protect you, and then storing them in your RV. You have to handle them again with bare hands? Use em and toss em. Not that costly compared to some of the other junk advocated. Talk about a waste of money, blue water filters. Filter your water to the extent that you trust the quality. If it’s a blue tube fine. If it’s a higher quality system, good on ya. Agree on memberships. Just the basics in the kitchen. Not a lot of trash and trinkets. Paper or plastic, whatever you want. Poisonous plastic? But don’t need dump gloves? Huh. Ice maker, nope. Compress your content. 10 minutes of content stretched into a 33 minute video. Word salad. Sorry, but this was my first view of one of your videos. Not just you, but most “influencers “ are guilty of this. Your quality is very good, your quantity is a bit lengthy.

I agree with most things you said, however I love my tabletop icemaker. We like to make a lot of cocktails when we get to our camping location and the table top icemaker gives us plenty of ice where we don’t have to go buy ice, but for us it works, to each their own. And by the way, I’m also in Colorado, and love, Blue Mesa

Thank you for all your practical encouragement to skip all the hype for gadgets that add up to hundreds & even thousands of dollars - which can prevent wanna-be adventurers from getting started living this wonderful RV life. You will discover things you want to add or swap out as you go, of course.
But listening to so many others’ videos of “must haves” as if you’ve gotta have all that before you begin just isn’t so!
During the past 4yrs we’ve added a couple of the items you choose not to have, but I’m ok with that & I’m guessing you are too! 😉
So glad I found you, love your style & all your ideas.

Not everyone is attentive as your husband to the mechanical needs of the vehicle, therefore a TPM is good to have. You 'disclaimer' should have been posted in the beginning of the video that based upon your experience and the needs of your family the following is what you have determined to be a waste of money. Not everyone has the same needs or experiences.

I drive a commercial motor vehicle and Hall hazardous materials in a semi truck. I’ve been doing this for almost 40 years without a TPMS. And yes, some of our trucks have them and they constantly go out and give you false readings. You definitely need to pay attention to your vehicle. It’s just like any other idiot light on your dash that comes on. When your oil light comes on, you’re out of oil and the damage is already done. Like the old saying, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

I personally want to take out an oven and put in the convenient oven/microwave option. Takes up less space. I know my toaster oven/air fryer is something that is a must for me. But the RV ovens I don't find them worth the trouble they're small and put out a lot of heat. I know the rig I want is going to be $200k. So figured if I can't really decorate them I'm splurging on things like am amazing fridge and freezer, microwave/oven. My goal is to get in a Noovo in 10 years or I might be luckier enough to get it in 5 years.

You can’t use a tire pressure gauge while driving. I picked up a screw while driving through Colorado Springs and my TPMS warned me in time for me to get off the road and find a good place to stop before the tire was totally flat. If I didn’t have my TPMS, I would not only have destroyed the tire, but would have ruined the rim. Instead I was able to just put on my spare. Should you always do an inspection prior to driving - absolutely.
