Coming from a self taught artist in less technical terms the key to blending acrylic is not to! Lol layer layer layer! It is possible to soften edges and smudge lines however unlike water resistant oil ..acrylic is easy to dilute so mixing too much muddies the colors like mixing water color.

The sharp point in the top of the paint cap is there to poke the seal on the tube. Like super glue

you just turn the cap around and it pops the seal

If the paint tube is closed like he showed, a way to open it Is to poke it by using the lid. There should be a spiky thingy on the top of the tube lid

Flip the lid over it will have a poker to break the seal on the tube

You don't need a pointed object to break the seal, turn the lid over and screw it on the paint, it has a built-in seal breaker.

Thank you so much for this teaching. I am learning to paint using acrylics. I took up art when I became very sick and disabled a few years ago. Art has been I had a natural gifting in, however I need proper teaching. You have explained so much in this amazing video which basically answered many of the questions I needed answers to. The way you explained values is going to completely change the way I approach painting. I need to remember to take regular breaks and look at the painting from a distance. Because I am guilty of getting fixated on one thing and forgetting the bigger picture. I always take photos of my paintings at various stages because it really shows the truth, whereas my eyes often trick me into thinking it's better than it really actually is. You said so many things. There's a lot to unpack. Another thing I struggle with is proportion and angles. But I will get there. I love hyper realistic art. I want to learn to paint realistic paintings. I love how you painted the eyes. I laughed when you mentioned about the colour of the iris, not to paint it white or the eyes end up looking like headlights! Loved that! 😂I must remember to put my phone on silent nothing worse than having your ears blown apart! 😱Awesome painting and tutorial. Easy to follow and yeah just brilliant🎨✨

Hey Bruh you pierce the top of the paint tube with the top of the cap, Hence why it has a pointed cone on it..

Usually when a tube is sealed, the reverse of the cap has a sunken point to burst the seal.

I'm just learning painting and I have improved day by day but I feel I'm not ready for portrait yet, but I'm gonna try to do it. Thank you for your tips 😉

You mention "a little bit thinner" so often I am beginning to think it really isn't alright.

Use an acrylic extender especially with portraiture, you'll find it brings back the oil painting feel and ease for blending.

Isn't there a little cone in the top of the plaint lid and that is what breaks the Seal of the paint

btw to open the paint tubes flip the cap over and push the outside part with the little point on it on the paint thing.

really amazing technique but the end result doesn't look like the model. You made him look more chinese or korean that whatever the ethnicity is of the model. The eyebrows were not done correctly,, his nostrils are more flared on the model, and the face shape was wider around the cheekbones. However, good tutorial for colours...except for skipping that one part that you probably did on purpose.

What I noticed is that these acrylics don’t have much body or texture to them. The finished product doesn’t look rich enough to me, but then again it’s the same for all acrylics. To get some texture richness to an acrylic painting you’d need to add texture gels. What do you think?

Usually if a container has a foil seal across the top then the opposite side of the cap has a molded point inside it so that you can flip the cap over press it to the aluminum foil and it opens it for you. No need for a utensil.
