Why would anyone desire to retire on a floating septic tank the breeds diseases? Imagine being shoulder to shoulder with obnoxious drunks 24/7. Loud, entitled, vodka voiced women that wear too much makeup and the greaser car salesman type men. Absolutely disgusting.

I’m happy for her🎉🎉🎉
A nursing home is NOT everyone’s final destination in senior living and it shouldn’t be for too many reasons to mention.
If you have your health and mucho money you can live the rest of your life however you want to; as long as it’s legal!

She was wearing one of those diabetic monitors you stick on arm; so she probably gets an overall check up by the ships doctor on board every two months for her A1C blood test and whatever else might be of concern.

Well, it's great to hear she likes staying on the ship alone with "all the help". Those are employees ma'am, but I can imagine she treats them like "the help".

I love cruising but living on a ship would get boring really fast. It might be ok if the ship goes to different ports often.

The problem with cruise ships is they come with a huge footprint. That's alot of metal and fuel for what a wood n brick retirement home could do.
Wish there was a movment for building more sustainable. Self efficient ships for perminant living though. Get the footprint down. Would also free up alot of land if pensioners retired at sea.

This lifestyle clearly fits some people's requirements and they can afford it. There are people who reside at all-inclusive luxury resorts and move between as desired. If you have the financial resources, it's fine. There is no law that you must live solely in your own dwelling.

Been a while since a post about her. Looked around, and it appears she is still alive at the age of 95 , hopefully soon to be 96 in May 2024. Her wiki doesn't cover what she is doing now, 2018 was the last year for her cruising due to health issues cited from other sources

As a Nurse, she has to be wealthy to do this. Cruise ships are governed by their own body of rules and regulations. If, a serious medical emergency happens cruise ships medical employees education/standards are up to their own standards not to proper health care education standards. If, she has a serious medical emergency cruise ships are stocked with only a certain amount and type of medical supplies that are governed under where the cruise ships is bought/ran from. Health insurance often does not cover medical care on cruises, but travel insurance might.
If, she become gravely ill, which I pray she never does…she will have to be removed from the ship taken to that country’s hospital for treatment, pay the medical bill before she leaves, wait until, the cruise ship comes back to pick her up to reboard. It is very costly to live on a cruise ship and GOD/Higher Spirit forbid if, a crime happens on a cruise ship…Cruise ships do not have police. Instead, an onboard Security Director will oversee the ship's own dedicated security department, staffed by former federal, state and military law enforcement personnel from various countries, which means they can cover up the crime. As a Nurse, I had a former pt try this for 2 months and when she became sick, fell she thought her life line alert would work on the cruise ship it did not and it took them 3 days to find her. She gave up retiring on a cruise ship and moved into an Independent Assisted Living place and cruises every 4 months with a companion.

Retirement homes should have all the same activities and amenities of cruise ships, and instead of docking, do 3D documentaries of different destinations everyday and hold cultural festivals with the typical foods, artisinal products, music, etc. And daily dancing, a must!
