I love these videos. But I haven't found any about the Gothic period. I would love a tour of Chartres with Waldemar. Also I haven't found any covering the period between the end of the Rococo and the rise of Impressionism. You know, the period of Courbet, Ingres. I guess that would be the Neoclassical and Romantic periods. Also the PRB, who at least deserve a mention even though their art is not all that exciting to me.

I would love to hear Waldemar cover these topics because he is the best art history lecturer I have heard. These episodes are so accessible even to the lay person that they can introduce art history to more people and increase the general appreciation of art throughout history. Art is History, Anthropology, Sociology, Economics, Religion, Science and Theater all wrapped up in an incredibly beautiful package.

One other request (I know the chances that the producers of this series seeing and acting on my suggestions is next to none but I want to say it anyway.) I would love an entire episode about Goya. I only heard a glancing comment about Goya in the Rococo episode. He is one of the most compelling and fascinating painters in history. I hope is these are still being produced. Thanks. 👍🏻☮️

He may have been a difficult man, but Degas was also very funny. He once said, “Only two of my personalities are schizophrenic, but one of them is paranoid and the other is out to get him.”

Pornography is the graphic portrayal of women as whores....what does it mean to graphically sculpt young women as rats? How can we think of Die Ewige Jude (the Nazi violence porn in which Jewish people are shown to be analogous to rats....literally). Misogyny doesn't lead to industrial level genocide of women but when we consider the staggering and gruesome statistics concerning the murder, near murder, rape and assault of women....now we are getting closer except for many its considered the expression of a normal attitude......Anyway. I trust your politics and being a man does not mean one is being a misogynist.....still....who was it that said, no doubt, some man, that says all it takes for evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing...... Anyway...Thankyou for your fabulous series....more please. G

"Sometimes so much nonsense spills out of your mouth," as you would say. Degas wasn't a misogynist. He was saying,"he doesn't like loud mouthed and rude woman." Many of his models were from the lower class, uneducated, rude and loud. Just like the nen in that group. Talk about forcing a modern perspective onto past people. Ancient Sparta was a military dictatorship. Infants with perceived imperfections were thrown off a cliff. In many ancient cultures men did all the hard, dangerous work and they still do. They were the ones dying on the field in combat. They faced a far unequal share of danger. Men took almost all the real risks and in many occasions had NO choice. Ask any woman "fight or no vote."
How many women/feminists have you seen volunteer to fight on the front lines, in the Ukraine. Sometimes you are so full of yourself.

My take on Degas and his young girls and 'rats' is very different to the one given here. Degas it seems, was a paedophile to most of us women who think about these things. He used penniless waifs as he wished...as did many men and artists of his ttime. of his time. It makes my blood boil to think of what men have and do , get away with....As for `the art...yes...it's good technically etc..but empathy with sentient beings ...is missing. All those voyeuristic 'male gaze ' views of girls in tubs etc....make one weep.

Degas, despite his so called misogyny, elevated WOMEN beyond
The pedestal of Western FEMINIST
Propaganda....he made their mundane acts works of beauty.
Of course "Sparta Girls" depicts the
Power girls have over boys. Boys, the same age as girls, will be putty
In the hands of these women.

Riveting script ravishing narration.
Despite the Woke condemnation that Degas was a misogynist (who cares, that's like calling someone a RACIST).
We could do with more of these Dega style "misagymist' cuz it takes women off their Feminist princess pedestal and makes them a bit more human.

What's the recipe today, Jim 'n' Supercar WorldPanofskiCup?

Meanwhile the football war goes on, because of this:

The English Football Organisation Plan
Following the breakaway attempt by 12 leading European clubs, the Premier League and the Champions League and the Europa League no longer have a mandate to be, nor any long-term credibility for any kind of investment sustainability because the actual game of football and its interest as both a participating and spectator sport is not the current remit for marketing football as an entertainment and instead, tertiary interests about the sport rather than the sport itself, are now the market product and with naturally disastrous results.
It is an entertainment product-marketing attempt to sell the Emperors New Clothes of the sport whilst taking the actual sport away and leaving just the marketing itself instead of the product and sooner or later that slash and burn cultural leach strategy is going to fail and it is now in the process of that farce, as witnessed by an attempted breakaway for a European League of total folly now hands slapped at fifty paces.
The attempt to reduce the game further with VAR in order to make it a who-done-it trick-or-treat affair for real-time in and out of play betting, evidences malignant parasites intending to fleece the game of its status whilst milking football dry to international destruction and not least for a quick real-estate sell, as football suffers for housing.
The asset stripping and the spiral of debt and the financial greed are totally eclipsing the sport.
The English F.A. and international others must radically re-think their very reason for being and whether to go down with the ship or mutiny or abandon ship.
This must be done with respect to being carbon footprint savvy and with respect to a post-Covid awareness of real geography.
The New European and National League Plan
1. Ditch the Champions League and instead replace it with The European National Winners Leagues 1 and 2 with each league comprising of 20 teams comprising of the national league champions of each European country, who go into either the first or the second European National Winners League for one season only and return to their national league at the end of that season, whatever the finish and are replaced by the new national league winners of their represented country.
2. The club that finishes bottom of ENWL1 relegates their national place to the second league e.g. if Ajax finish bottom of the 1st league for example, the next Dutch champions go into the 2nd league the year after and the national place of the top team of ENWL 2 gets promoted.
3. This means no conflict of interest league-wise and an end to single football club monopoly and it also means fresh European national winner leagues every season, so there is a lively product that has actual sense and meaning to it, thus it has sustainability and market value as that.
4. As part of a streamlining of competition formats post-Covid and also with respect
to being carbon footprint friendly, all Eurasian countries and the Levant are excluded.
5. The countries of those regions have to accept responsibility for their geographic location and form a Eurasian Football Federation and a Levant Football Federation with their own competitions etc.
6. This means Ukraine in and Russia and Turkey and the rest of those regional teams excluded.
7. UEFA originally had 35 members this cuts it down to 48 (provisionally including Cyprus) so the bottom 16 minnow national league winners play qualifying rounds first to make up two European national winner leagues of 20 teams for the genuine champions of the geographic European national leagues.
8. If those nations excluded protest and UEFA attempts to block the plan then the nations of the European geographic region have the option of leaving UEFA and forming their own European Football Federation, thus taking full control of the European National Winners League as well as a new international competition for the national cup winners.
9. With respect to Konigsberg/Kaliningrad, England does not play in the South American championships because of the Falkland Islands, so Russia as a Eurasian country can't get in via that wannabe route.
10. Israel is excluded as part of the Levant and The New European and National League Plan must not be compromised in any way by countries outside of the geographical area.
11. Football has suffered enough at the hands of politics and each country must take responsibility for its political affairs and not use football to claim European status when they have no geographical status as that.
12. The status of Cyprus cannot compromise the competition and if no agreement can be reached between any conflicting football interested parties then they are excluded from international European football competition until any agreement is confirmed.
13. In the case of any legal dispute arising from this ruling if Cyprus were excluded on the grounds of a legal challenge temporally interfering with Rule 12 then that legal dispute shall not interfere in any agreement that would compromise any inclusion of Cyprus in international European football nor in any way interfere with the temporal enactment of the competitions.
14. The New European and National League Plan reserves the right to make the final decision as to who can be included and who not, as an entertainment first and independent commercial enterprise.
15. This judgment respects the national and international governments and their political status regarding the geographical boundaries set by state.

The New World Cup and European Championships Plan
1. The World Cup and European Championships to be played locally on a knockout cup basis, with no regional qualifying.
2. No home and away fixtures or replays e.g. Guinea v. Germany round one etc.
3. The F.A. Cup has over 1500 entrants and yet its format fits an annual calendar so there should be no diary problems with respect to this.
4. The European Football Championships also to exclude the Eurasian countries and the Levant according to geographic location.
5.WC and EC to be played alternate years.
6. This eliminates qualifying groups and gets straight to the action, in order to create exciting international football and good live TV all year round and every year and with market sustainability as that, for having a genuine sporting reason to its format.
The National Cup Winners Cup
1. The National Cup Winners Cup shall be an F.A. Cup-type European geographic area football knockout competition and it shall be invitation only to the cup winners of the European geographic nations as designated.
2. Each domestic cup winner goes into the National Cup Winners Cup but forfeits their domestic cup for that season and then returns to domestic cup competition the season after.
3 .The teams playing in the European National Winners League can also play in this competition if they do the domestic double.
4. The ‘F.A. Cup’ of each geographic country shall be the only football cup competition of that country to gain entry to The National Cup Winners Cup.
5. This competition replaces the Europa League and has lasting value for its sporting remit, in contrast to the Europa League, which has no actual sporting remit for its existence.
World Club Championship
To be played on an inter-federation basis, one club per federation per year with format designed with respect to the clubs and its media status as of leading world media interest.

One-off Grudge Matches Each team of whatever league in the cohort of leagues participating in The English Football Organisation Plan are allowed four additional Grudge Matches to be played during the season at an agreed venue with any other team in the world however they must forfeit their place in any other tournaments to The English Football Organisation Plan.
‘The Grand’
‘The Grand’ is a Champion Shield awarded to any feats of football show-jumping whereby winning the domestic competition is the ‘flat’ and the European competition the ‘hurdle’ and then the ‘flat’ again, as a carrot for the ‘Always the winners’ clubs.
Financial Implications
Tiddlywinks is tiddlywinks and football is football so if that's the plan and the only plan then clubs plan to the plan and that's it, even if it means the minimum wage for players as a result of the financial re-structuring of the sport, for there will be no shortage of willing talent willing to play for nothing even and always. Refereeing the competitions
All matches must be played according to English Football Association Rules including goal line technology but not VAR.
Betting Rules
1. No bets taken once the match has kicked off and any after-kick-off betting on the new football competitions to be made illegal in all countries as a condition of reception of broadcast product.
2. This reduces carbon footprint and betting addiction and puts football in a clean light, so good marketing strategy worldwide as it also takes out of the equation any suggestion of betting complicity in any in-play and out-of-play refereeing during the course of the match by whatever means of adjudication.
Football’s honour restored The English Football Organisation Plan puts football first as the economic nucleus of the business plan for the sport’s long-term security and evident reason-to-be, as that.

Yet another episode which is both entertaining and informative. I do love listening and watching Waldemar with his quite quirky style especially talking to camera over his shoulder. However I need to be picky and when he talks about the cabinet scraper at 39 minutes in and holds one and pushes it as if to show how it’s used but of course it’s pulled towards you not pushed. And the edge is not so much sharpened as turned over with a burr which produces a very effective tool to scrape surfaces smooth and remove surface layers or to smooth the wood down.

Poor Berthe Morisot - yet another situation she had to bear was that her husband (Eugene) was the brother of Edouard Manet. All 3 were painters, as you know. But Edouard would come over and take it upon himself to fiddle with Berthe's paintings, "improving them" as he thought he had a right to! What a pissant.
