Kramer Baretta Special - A SUPER Affordable 80's Icon - Dagan's Favourite Budget Guitar!

I like single pickup guitars for the fact I spend more time playing, less time trying to figure out every little sound I can get out of it. Most single pickup guitars come in either a Les Paul Jr or a super Strat style guitar. As a country music fan I enjoy the sound of the Les Paul Jr over a super Strat style guitar, but the super Strat's are by far more comfortable to play. I like the fact it's a hard tail and not a Floyd Rose. I've figured out with a stiff pick, and you dig into it hard by the bridge you can make a humbucker sound pretty bright. I've learned how to play on an ibenez with a single humbucker sherd guitar, I enjoy playing country music it is possible to make it work. Kramer is my ultimate dream guitar, I want one, but I'm not interested in the Floyd Rose setup, it takes away from the simplicity I've come to love. I just want the most simple guitar I can find and I believe this is it.

Well I never played a Kramer guitar I do have a Jackson js32x what a always done was I would just the the 5 way selector switch at the bottom when played through a line six spider 4 it sounds almost like old school hair metal

Hi! Great review buy I have a question. Which is better, buy a Baretta Special and update the pickup and tremolo, maybe even the tuners or buy a Baretta? Or an 84?

I played this guitar and was impressed! Nice tone, great action and playability, killer colors and all for $199. It had better build quality and played better than the Kramer Pacer Classic! Rock On!

When you see someone with skills playing a modest instrument and making it sound pro, it really shows how more guitarist should spend more time practicing than buying the fancy gear lol

Your video convinced me to try one out. I got a purple one and I really enjoy this guitar a lot! Hammer on for days! The ONLY issue I have is the constant string binding on the nut. I've carefully filed it out, replaced strings, etc.... using the tremolo yeilds constant tunage. Either way, I dont care, its a blast to play. Got myself the Dange Zone Kramer and it is a joy to play as well. Thanks for these videos. Keep rockin!

I picked up a blue Kramer barretta today and it was 200 flat. I got home and plugged it in almsot immediately and it sounds so badass. I just went in for strings and I saw this candy blue Kramer and I just could not put it down. I ended up leaving with Ernie ball super slinky’s and the kramer. For the price it’s amazing and I’m so glad I saw and bought it

Is this a rosewood fretboard?

Wonder who set it up for him before he started diving on it. They must have stretched in the strings and lubed the hell out of the nut. I'm gonna give one of these a go, this particular model looks the best. If it has tuning issues, I might throw a set of locking tuners on it and an old school reissue FR without fine tuners.

I'm a minimalist with my guitars; too many sparky-farkles that I don't use. My white "special" is by-far my favorite in my line-up. Sounds great and was perfect out of the box from the first day. Great review-

That guitar looks really cute and has a style of its own.
Also I'm pretty sure the guy playing it could get a similarly rocking sound out of a Telecaster. I'm afraid it would sound very different in my hands.

I'm a little late to the party, but I just bought a purple one today. Trades off my old epiphone les paul deluxe. Basically paid nothing for it. This thing is awesome.

Anything out of the 80s man had a killer tone that I love and miss! Especially the Kramers, ICONIC and LEGENDARY!

Got one of these so I can fit a Squier Atomic humbucker into it. The canted pickup allows me to recreate the At The Drive-in guitar tone which was created by Omar using an upside-down Squier Super-Sonic, which has the bridge pickup canted the other way around when held the right way up. The Baretta gives me that upside-down Super-Sonic angle though!

Love that it's such an affordable option. Once I stick that Atomic pickup into it, it's gonna be a monstrous guitar, and for a grand total of £150.00. Insane!

EDIT: I have it all sorted now. And yes, it sounds badass.

The biggest selling point of this guitar (disregarding it's insanely low price), is the canted pickup. It's rare to see canted humbuckers, and even rarer to see ones which gravitate towards the high strings at the bridge! These are a true rarity for that reason. Thankfully almost nobody is asking ;)

You can get some crazy unique sounds by putting different humbuckers into this guitar, and it has the simplest wiring I've ever seen.

I stuck a Squier Atomic humbucker into one and it's brutal!

Eddie didnt have a floyd for all the divebombs on VH1, so youll be okay, i have this guitar swapped the stock pickup for a JB, put a graphtech nut on and got it set up professionally (oh n i put a Mxr style knob as a evh homage lol) and man it plays like a 1000$ guitar! i wanna put grovers on it but i mean these tuners work really well only need micro adjustments even when using the trem! which is Absoulutely Crackas!!!! (like dagan would say)
PS: Before you do ANYTHING make sure to snip that "treble bleed" it is the worst idea ive seen and i havnt seen one person who bought this guitar that likes it, when u snip it you can actually do volume swells with it on its pretty much a on/off switch

Been playing for years and I have to say these things really pop for such a budget guitar. I was immediately drawn to a purple one in guitar center. They're so clean!

It's got one of those sucky trem bars that doesn't lock that sucks because it does sound good, too bad it not got the Floyd. Does it stay in tune well? or what with the pieces of shit trem?

Just bought a purple one on clearance today for 159.i love it!

I ended up with a pink one. Haven't played it very much maybe because its pink. Started playing it, it sounds amazing! It may be the best sounding guitar i have. I have esps bc rich dean markley jackson and others. Do other Kramer's sound just as good?

I just got me one of these and the strings are insanely easy to bend I’m use to .46 gauge what string could I use on this? To have a stiffer feel
