Pretty sure it's because of the Quantum Dot filter.
I actually have an XV272UX from Acer ( 1440p 270hz IPS ) and i get headache and eyestrain everyday, even if i put sRGB mode or if I lower the color saturation, even the white point (blank page) tears my eyes out, yet I am at 10% brightness
I always wait for acer predator monitors, they are always perfect. Once i bought new alienware 240hz on premiere some years ago and it had so many minuses.
ОтветитьDon’t mind me. Doing the thing where I buy a very expensive monitor and then validate my purchase by watching reviews while it ships out.
ОтветитьI returned mine the day I got it, tested it with series x in console mode. Sadly no 4k120 hz only up to 60. So I returned it. I'm sticking with LG. Msi looks interesting but idk when the 27 qd oled is releasing in February
ОтветитьIm a little confused, I just got mine and 240hz with dp 1.4 cable is showing up as the highest setting in the control panel….
ОтветитьWhat about Text quality....like character names....and for daily use stuff like Word or etc?
ОтветитьIf I understand correctly, the OLED panels aren’t bright enough??
ОтветитьWake up, you're comparing a gas engine to an electric
ОтветитьThat's one the problems of OLED they flicker much more. Some brands may use a PWM with a higher frquency to overcome but maybe others don't. Another important thing is about brightness and its relation with flickering. The less bright a screen is the more it flickers because when you lower down the brightness, you are not really lowering it, they use a trick of turning off and on the screen in order to simulate a low brightness. Fresh you can always check how low the brightness on this monitor is and try increase it but keep it always in an acceptable value for your eyes of course and see if you feel better. Do not confuse PWM flickering with how many times a monitor refreshes.
ОтветитьWhat aspect of the panel do you think was causing the eye strain? Is there a flickering issue or power management issue unique to these panels?
ОтветитьTime to buy glasses mate? That's what it sounds like to me. I've only had eyestrain once and it was from reading my phone too much when Covid started. Sounds like you are over worked and it has absolutely nothing to do with the monitor itself.
ОтветитьUpsetting to hear. I have the PG27AQN and I love it, but I also have an LG 42" C2 in my living room that I watch movies on and play the occasional Forza sesh on (or any other game I like better with a controller). I wanted to combine the two, and was really excited for this. However, I just dont think OLED technology is there for monitors yet. QC issues are really apparent with these Samsung QD-OLED panels and W-OLED panels do not get bright enough. Then theres text fringing on desktop use, as well as the constant threat of burn in. Even though IPS isn't as good in terms of sheer quality; especially after this video, I still choose IPS over OLED.
ОтветитьWhy im returning this monitor - because im done reviewing it
ОтветитьSo you will keep your Asus Ips for main gaming monitor
? Is good monitor ? Bcs I saw good comments generally.
I got mine 4 days ago and Ilove it! I upgraded from a 1080p 144hz so its a big upgrade. Stangely Ive sat in front of it for hours and havent had an issue with eye straining. I also changed the option to FPS which made it a bit brighter.
ОтветитьOne question now they will come the new oled with 2.1 displayport (the Hp and Aorus are first already ) but the thing is that i want to buy 4090 but it afford 1.4 dp.
The 7900xtx supports 2.1 but is not powerful like 4090.
So after all what do you recommend ?Go for monitor ips or oled ? Or 4k or 1440p ?
i play in old monitor xl2546 not K and i want to build a 4090 with 7800x3d Pc.... But the display Port is so important? We see the difference? Thanks
Would love if you test HP transcends qd-oled .it exactly the same size as alienware but with extra features like 140watt charger and the new display port 2.1 .
ОтветитьI had a C3 42" and returned it due to eye strain compared to my ips regardless of brightness. High contrast screens are harder on the eyes than lower contrast . Some may notice more than others. The monitor you mention might have a secondary issue as well
ОтветитьI received mine yesterday with no issues. I played for about 8 hours and it performed flawless. No eye strain or flickering.
Ответитьjust wait oled to be more affordable than no one would buy ips anymore
ОтветитьI just got my Alienware 2725df. I experienced the same eye strain and headache. Rgb on the 27 on the back was flickering and then there was a bubble between the antiglare coating and the screen. Loved it though until the eye strain started. Next level monitor though.
Ответитьthat comfortview plus looks it has a yellowish filter always on....Does it messes with color in your opinion??
ОтветитьHahaha talking about colors being pretty close at the beginning while showing the same screen on each monitor, the IPS looks completely washed out, black looks horrible and the red looks amazing on the Alienware. I understand you might have issues but colors are a huge difference
ОтветитьIf there is no flickering (which this panel should not have, unless caused by electronic damage) - getting eyestrain must be impossible.
ОтветитьHonestly...Alienware (Dell) makes fantastic monitors and have for a while. Def much better than their computers and laptops.
OLED is still scary to use for long gaming sessions because of burn in with HUDs. Luckily, they have pixel refresh and panel refresh maintenance options.
Man I remember when I was on ips monitor and had to sell I got VA panel cause it was on a discount and then I had eye strain just sitting in front of it browsing the web. It took a few days I'd say max a week for my eyes to get adjusted to it and I never had issues like that no more. I think its more individual and depends on the user but if you do have an eyes issue just let your eyes adjust and in 1 week max you wouldn't have any eye problems with it.
Ответитьhe is sponsored by asus guys remember that.
ОтветитьI have the pg27aqn and removed the matte coating. Think I will be sticking with this until next year or may pick up the 480hz asus monitor later this year. I also removed the matte coating on my neo g8 so no need to upgrade really.
ОтветитьInteresting, probably Samsung has oversaturated the images and they look too colorful and unnatural. They have talked that more contrast can be perceived as higher brightness and since OLEDs have low native brightness, increasing the saturation makes sense from marketing standpoint.
ОтветитьIs the monitor full glossy or semi? is semi just as good as fully glossy? I have the 27inch matte and i regret it. Also how are you displaiyng 1 game on both monitors like that? it would be great if i could do that to compare my OLED to my ips.
ОтветитьNice video but to be honest i would get the gigabyte 32 inch 4k dp 2.1 because it has a switch to go from 4k to 1080p so the image on your monitor becomes 24 inch or so i rather have best of boy worlds instead of just 1 of em but that's my opinion but keep up the good work:)
ОтветитьI never have eye strain with monitors the only bad experience I had was with the OLED 45inch LG I was feeling a little sick but then I got use to it
ОтветитьMaybe your eye strain was caused by the same issue that caused the monitor to completely blank
ОтветитьHey can you please tell me how are you stacking the monitor on top each other? I want to do the same but dont know how !
ОтветитьNow make a comparison in Call of Duty and Fortnite, and turn off your lights so we can see how bright the screen is
Ответитьabout eyestrain i have it as well even with my old crappy ips panel monitor. but i do fix it by using blue lights glasses for my gaming usage and it works like magic
ОтветитьEye strain? Did you adjust the blue light filter?
ОтветитьHDMI on site says only does 144hz, true?
ОтветитьI regret buying an IPS monitor and wish I had just spent the extra and got the LG OLED monitor(or something similar).
Having used OLED tv's for the last 8 years, the poor black levels/contrast on the IPS and the colours really ruins my enjoyment. But that's just me.
Solid points. Background noise made my adhd lose you a few times 😂
ОтветитьHey Freshreviews, thanks for this. Just one question, did you manage to compare the PG27AQN against the OLED with ULMB2 enabled? Could even out the playing field.
Thanks
Seems like we're in the same boat waiting for 480 Hz OLED, then.
I actually had a very similar issue with one of my older ZOWIE monitors - had to create a custom nvidia profile with a lower refresh rate just to be able to show an image, but since yours doesn't display anything at all, I'm sure it's a hardware issue. This really sucks.
Hey, thanks for your review! Does this monitor have a fan for cooling? If yes, is it noticeable/all time on?
ОтветитьOne thing I realized is that watching too many reviews makes one take on others opinions and preferences too much. In my personal opinion and from experience, LG is the OLED king. OLED is meant to be used on dark rooms so the complaint about brightness isn’t new but it’s also why LG hasn’t strayed too far from its purpose after so many years. For me they are prefect because I don’t want eye-searing brightness in my face for hours. Get some blackout curtains and some hue lights if you need and enjoy. The 360hz on the AW27 are tempting for sure but I snagged the LG 27 OLED for $749 at Best Buy. For the price the 360hz just won’t make that much of a difference and the games I play won’t get that much fps anyway and I have a 4090.
ОтветитьSounds like you're PWM sensitive like me. Welcome to the club it sucks I can't use any modern cell phone because they are all OLED. I am using an iPhone XR because it has an LCD display.
ОтветитьHope you review the new Benq 540hz monitor
ОтветитьLinus (ShortCircuit) reviewed this monitor and praised it to heaven. That's why I don't trust their reviews in the last 1-2 years. Text reading could be even more annoying for me as I have a vision defect (-2.25) so I have to wear glasses and my eyes are getting tired even faster probably. Thank you for your honest review and I'm gonna be more picky with text clarity if I would ever want to buy and OLED :)
