My xbox has been sitting around for a very long time. Just changed the capicitors so xbox will power up. Manage to sort that problem out! Now my eject button does not work at all. Could i do this method for the eject button also? Thanks. Btw awesome vid :)
ОтветитьWhat are the tools I need again?
ОтветитьExactly what are the steps?
ОтветитьMy power button was dead, and xbox shut off each 5 min. Trace E there was No connection testet with multimeter. The 3 other traces where fine. So i soldered a wire between the 2 points.and now problem is fixed 😊
ОтветитьDoes this fix also apply to a non-modded F.R.A.G issue?
ОтветитьThank man is work fine make my xbox great again
ОтветитьWhat kind of tape is that you're using to hold down the wires?
ОтветитьA bit late.... but if i only got the power button not working i only do the Power button line ?
The eject button work great and like normal ( he dont shut off the xbox)
I've check the traces but there intact. i just twisted off the clock cap beacuse my xbox has the same issue. but it did not leak a lot, the cap looked great but there was lil bit of acid there. Are there any other things that can cause these issues. Is it okay to use cleaning alcohol to get rid of the corrosion. there is a little bit on the smaller cap below the clock cap at one oth the two contact points. Everything else is were its supossed to be. Its a 1.2-1.5
ОтветитьWorked for me! Only had to do 1 cable. Thanks!!
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this video! I just repaired my green limited edition Xbox. ❤️
ОтветитьDoes anyone know someone who can fix an original Xbox that won't turn on? I can find tons of tutorials online to fix the likely issue, but I don't have any experience or tools like a soldering iron. I've looked local and online and so far no luck.
ОтветитьThank you bro, Xbox fixed <3
ОтветитьMine powers up when plugged in and the power button doesn't work but the eject button does. I have zero soldering skills. I would be terrified of screwing it up. I guess I should check though. The last time I opened it was to remove the clock capacitor but I saw no signs then. It looked okay. It's also started to give Error 7 messages.
ОтветитьMuch thanks for this video which explains the issue and fix very well. had the same issue on my 18 year old Xbox and last night we fixed the problem. We had the two outher lines that had the corrosion issue. We managed to resolve this by your video. many thanks, power en eject button working again :)
ОтветитьHopefully someone is still watching this post and can give me a pointer as to wheat to check. XBOX Original was working fine NO problems. I packed things up moved and it was not used for about a year. Got it out, set it up, plugged in in. pressed the Power button... NOTHING.. Checked it out by opening it, Could not see or find anything wrong inside, ALL looked good, NO LIGHTS at all come on when pressing the button again.. I CAN HEAR the Disk spin when I hold the Power button or disk eject button but NO LIGHTS come on and it does not start, Any ideas as to what my be the problem? The disk spins as long as I hold the Power or eject button bt stops as soon as I release either of them. IT is not making excess noise and actually can barely be heard unless you put your ear really close to it.
I really miss my saved games after years of playing with them. I am not getting and ring lights at all.. nothing there..

I dont wanna damage it so :(
at least it was £5
Dude.... you are a FREAKING genius!!! Thank you so much!!!! I would have NEVER guessed to look at those tiny traces. Found two very small gaps the size of a grain of sand. Ran a jumper to the one you labeled “E” and it works like a charm!!! The thing was powering off by itself, shutting down and beeping, auto turning on... this fixed all of it!!!! Thank YOU!!!!
ОтветитьYoooooo! Thank you so much for this. My old xbox has been having this problem for years. I'm gonna try this and hopefully it'll go back to normal.
ОтветитьYeah good solution. I found a fix by myself before find this video. The reason is super capacitor 1uF 2.5V leak - sorry if I repeat if you told that in video.
ОтветитьI had a stuck power issue, used this guide to fix, thank you very much. The motherboard was a version 1.0 the traces were very similar. Only 1 trace was broken although I couldn't find it, I connected all the points anyway as a safe measure. Again thanks!!
ОтветитьWould anyone know what causes an Xbox DVD automatically ejecting..?
ОтветитьVery good tip! Thanks for narrowing it down, saved me a lot of time!!
ОтветитьI am wondering if the points are more or less the same on all mb versions of the Xbox or if some versions are more prone to trace issues
or if its more about who spilled some soda on the xbox 15 years ago.
Parabéns... Estou com um xbox classic (v1.0) com o mesmo problema... agora esta normal apos fazer os reparos deste tutorial... obrigado por compartilhar...
Ответитьthe xbox im working on was working fine a week ago but when i went it turn it on today no power at all. since i have a couple of xboxs i switched out the internal power supply but no luck. all the traces and capacitors look fine its a version 1.6 xbox with a mod chip.
Ответить@segaholics can I pay you to repair my original Xbox power button issue?
ОтветитьExactly what I needed :D gonna fix my friends xbox.
ОтветитьWhat type of wire was used?
ОтветитьThis is GREAT!!! Thanks a ton!!! Bought an Xbox off eBay that said the power button didn’t work, and this did the trick!!!
ОтветитьAwesome fix, my man! Thanks!
ОтветитьWhat type of wire? 30 gauge what??
ОтветитьYour video was great, repairing an old Xbox that was having power and eject button issues and found the problem immediately after watching your video. I removed the clock capacitor and cleaned what corrosion I could find, but didn't see the small damage it did to the K and P traces.
Thank you for the help. That Xbox is back to full working order now.
Sorry to necro but does the board revision matter or is it the same for them all.
ОтветитьWhat state you in? You do repairs as a service?? 💰
ОтветитьCheers! Been picking up old xboxes to fix and re-sell, got a problem with 2 of the xboxes. Might be able to fix them now!
ОтветитьThe buttons was just like yours, but when i had to open the disc drive, i just had to hit it on the front and then it would open
ОтветитьSo glad I found this video. Lucky for me it was only the very bottom trace (E). I went directly from the resistor connected to the start of the trace, to the final pad that you show. It worked! :)
ОтветитьI got an xbox recently that has all these same issues and also when I play games there are wavy lines making it practically unplayable, would fixing the trace rot solve the wavy lines and video signal ?
ОтветитьWill a broken trace cause it to random turn off in play as well as issue of not saying off unless it unplugged my will not say off and ejeck won't work till you hit off botton and will not say off and once you get disc in it will turn it on and off after hour or two of play
ОтветитьAloha my brother nice video. 👍🏼👍🏼
ОтветитьCan you tell me the used wire specs?
ОтветитьI can’t believe it, I’m having the EXACT same problem.
ОтветитьHow were you able to solder those microscopic wires? What kind of solderin iron did you use?
ОтветитьHe holding his hand in front of the tray of course it’s not going to open
ОтветитьI’m too slow to fix 😢
Ответитьat least that console turns on and STAYS one... mine turns on for 1 second and turns off, but if i try again in a few minutes it works... but if i restart the console after that i'm fucked again and have to wait 5 minutes again
I suspect the capacitors, they've never EVER been changed, surprisingly not bulging but the clock cap had already leaked when i opened it up for the first time ffs im gonna have to spend so much money on it i dont have a soldering iron, the knowledge on how to use one or spare capacitors let alone the correct rating and i'm guessing paying someone to do this is not gonna be cheap at all
Any link to a tutorial? The one in the description is dead.
