Lies and boats, thats all the tories have left to offer the country, they've robbed the public blind. Sunak wont make the next GE and we'll end up with yet another unelected millionaire, probably oberleutant Braverman or Penny Morbid, and it isn't politics thats ruined this country anymore, it's Britain itself, like the Tory party its eating itself from the inside, so sad.

Only problem is that multiple studies have shown that companies almost never invest in new research/products, wages or hiring. All they ever do with the extra cash is share buy backs, executive bonuses and increased shareholder dividends. It's a garbage theory like trickle down which have repeatedly shown to not work no matter how many times they try the same thing. Public services like the NHS and education are already massively underfunded and they will use these tax cuts as an excuse to cut programs and funding because they can no longer afford to pay them. Pure and utter garbage.

Capital investment! That's just slang for making the wealthy wealthier... it's a tax break designed for businesses to invest in training staff, employing more staff, investing in equipment, etc, but most of it will end up in the pockets of extremely wealthy. I doubt we'll see any worthwhile growth in employment or up-skills of workers, but I guarantee we will see CEO's salaries rise and investors dividends rise.

No increase in Personal allowance this affect the most vulnerable the most with increase in pension then government clawing back much of that increase by pushing lots more pensioners to pay tax

Over £500 a year in your pocket from reducing NI is about £9.60 a week, peanuts. And I’m sure that will soon be swallowed up by other things rising. Energy bills are going up again in January for instance.

I am 80 years old . I worked 60 to 70 hours aweek before retirement .I paid a lot of money into company pension . Paid into serps . Paid into private pension when made redundant
My total pensions State pension private pension is less than the minimum wage ..up to now I am paying 20 tax on all my pension s and serps
When we get a raise nex year I will be paying tax on the state pension if threshold for tax stays as it is .
How can that be fair when the min wage is
More than my income the
I have never claim any money of the state
But those save and work hard for there retirement get penalised
Those who don't work
Hard get made out for
How can that be fare

@ThePirateParrot
@ThePirateParrot - 27.11.2023 16:09

Ok so quick break down. That 2% in national insurance is irrelevant because they froze increases in the income tax threshold so by next year it will be wiped out by inflation. Meaning taxes are still going up on everyone. All the 'investment' is in the form of tax breaks for private companies. Meaning the majority will go in investments that would have happened anyways. No one is gonna splurge at the moment because there just isnt the spare private capital. The things that really need reform such as business rates and council tax (which hit small bussiness and low income households the hardest) are being left alone. The tax traps on high earners are being left alone. This budget basically cuts taxs on institutions and the capital rich at the expense of professionals small business and the poor.

Tory billionaires and millionaires have and use private health... they don't need or use the NHS. The reason why the NHS is in decline is because the decision makers don't benefit and therefore not concerned about the majority of the population who do rely on the NHS.
