Im not able to take the metal cover off there are plastic pieces that keep it down

For some of the newer ps4 slim models, you will find that the some of the screws are a sort-of melted plastic screw. It was like they poured plastic inside and let it solidify to prevent you from opening it. If your console has this, be extremely careful.

I used a VERY small flat-head tip and carefully chisseled underneath them until the screw driver "beheaded" the top of them. Only then could I open it enough to blow out the heat sync and fan.

I'm guessing this is a way to void your warranty.

your videos are the best but my large metal plate has plastic rivets on it not screws so unble to remove and clean any advise please

The part to take off that metal cover for the fan, most of the screws are blocked by what it seems as plastic melted on top of the screws which stops me from taking off the metal cover, if theres something i can do that can take the plastic off pls tell me.

do you need both t8 and t9 or just one of them

I'm guessing Sony decided that they didnt want us doing this ourselves, since they've now melted the black pegs that protrude throught the metal plate, so that they're smooshed over the holes (lots of ppl in the comments calling them rivets). Great for holding the plate in place and stopping any vibration. Not so good for those of us watching you just lift it off whereas in our newer model Slims we risk bending the metal plate.

Thank you for the video. My first time cleaning since 2014 and it wasn't that dusty. I was really hoping this would fix my issue with the frame rate dropping to 1fps on rare occasions. . . I don't know what else to try

I got all the screws but metal plate won't come off. There are black dots that look like screws but are not.

I’m having issues with my ps4 now in which I cleaned it but the fan doesn’t spin anymore and so I take my finger and spin it which starts it back up but only spins for an hour at most and then it eventually overheats and turns off so even tho I know this is old any tips would be appreciated I have a slim btw

Hey Tronics fix! I followed your video to clean my fan. However I dont have screws to take off the metal plate to access the fan. In place of these screws are these little platic pugs and I can't take them off without breaking them. Do you have any suggestions?
