Could you please find the time to describe how your boat is equipped. I’m looking at getting another siren 17 and would like to improve it a bit

Even when i owend an t.c. i still had an inflateable as i could ancouher off the beech as hear in Australia there are dropoffs on the outgoing tide and there are worning notes on the chats. Idealy an inflateable can allso be used as an raft if needed.

Hello from South West UK... I've watched hundreds of Sailing-Videos, but this is the most relaxing, interesting, well-narrated and thoroughly-enjoyable video I have ever watched! Well done to both of you. Naturally, I have subscribed - and would love to see many more similar videos from you my new friends :)

I am curious where you launched from, and where you parked your vehicle and trailer for your adventure? We are planning a similar trip and could use any tips. Thank you.

My new boat, is an Pacific 747 24 footer pocket cruiser
sailing boat with shoul draft of 700 mmeters witch is still trailerble and capable of going into very shallow water and up to the beach. I just have to be careful of the out going tide. will do an intro vlog on my new boat.

On your next trip, buy an easy yo yogut maker and take some powdered yogut culture and you can make yogut overnight and enjoy fresh berries and yogut for brekkie.

I would like to know your name so I could address you personally. Your videos have inspired me to begin work on a 1973 Siren purchased at a boat auction fundraiser for North House Folk School in Grand Marais Minnesota. I'm doing the most important safety work first and then will move on to aesthetic issues. You mention Dwyer Mast company as a resource for your gooseneck but in looking at the offerings they have on line i'm not seeing your particular piece of hardware. Do you have a product number you could share? Or has anyone out there found a suitable replacement? Currently my gooseneck is a door hinge in the mast slide bolted to the bent bolt attached to the boom.
I'm tom from Lutsen MN

I sail solo most of the time with the odd occational buddy boat witch i like rather having crew on board. I allso have an disability and having owend a few different boats over the years,
I have concluded that for myselfe an 24 footer with.shallow draft has all the requirements i need and keeping the intrerest in my budget is allso inportant handling on my owen.
I spend a lot of time on my boat and therefore i keep my boat in marinas. Theres an lot of advantages crusing like that.

Trailer sailers are wonderful, aren’t they? This Siren 17 looks perfect for trips like this. Most Canadians prefer a larger sailboat because half of all Canadians live around the Great Lakes within 100 miles of the US border, and keep their boats at a marina for the season. I find that not using a marina keeps the cost of sailing much lower because I can maintain my boat at home, and store it in my back yard for free. I got my little sailboat for $500 on eBay, and it’s wonderful. It has a small fixed keel, but it’s still trailerable. I would prefer a swing keel, like the one on your Siren, but there were none available. I would advise people to shop for the keel they want, then narrow their search from there. I wish I had waited until I found a little boat with the swing keel.

🤔 hmm 🤔 Curious about your see thru sails. What material are they ? Not seen those before .. Great share .. Papa J

If you don't mind me asking I noticed you have a DL brake winch. Did you cut your keel winch board more narrow? I bought the dl350 and touched and bent the handle as much as I feel comfortable and still need a half inch clearance.

As a Wisconsin native, previous windsurfer and wishful sailer I must admit this looks like fun.
That size boat, with updated sails like you have, would be perfect for some small lakes in Wisconsin.
I love camping and exploring along our Great Lakes but always thought it would be too dangerous to explore by water in a smaller craft.
This is intriguing-especially when campgrounds and parks are so full these days.
I also found it interesting that you found sandy coves to beach on.
Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful video and adventure on your Siren 17. I used to own one of them. You got more guts than I sailing it on Superior, even in fairly protected waters. Not really any ballast on them to speak of, but perfect for trailering long distances. I trailered mine behind a VW Jetta Turbo Diesel. Worked great! They are very popular in Canada where they were made by Van De Stadt. I live in MN and your video just may inspire me to take my Precision 23 up to the Apostles for an extended cruise.
