I personally believe that it’s all different timelines that stem from minor differences in the story. The original dual masters is the OG timeline. The GX timeline is the one where Yugi wins vs Yami. The five days time is one where Yami picks Kiba and Kiba wins. Linchpin for the time paradoxes is the final duel in DM.

Is it not that time travel works by changing a point in time and then everything in that timeline and afterwords shifts from what was the already predetermined outcome? And so both timelines still exist, but where the time travel stuff occurred there is a split to another time. But there are different time travel methods that lead to different timeline outcomes, such as in bbt when paradox causes the timeline to start to be erased when he kills pegasus

The person that head wrote most of 5Ds Season 2 where time travel was involved also handled Season 4 of GX…so time travel might have absolutely been the intended reason

It's the technology too (KaibaCorp's Momentum. I have no idea why Paradox didn't just assassinate Kaiba just to start with and THEN addressed the duel monsters) but fighting fire with fire not gonna work. Duel monsters is a grand scale weapon so there has to be a way to counteract it without using the weapon itself and if there's no other way by god don't have children play it why are children being sent to deal with these evil gods instead of the military being trained in card game warfare for the next generation of wars. Why not make ROBOTS fight these evil gods instead and give them perfect decks that way nobody has to risk their lives?? I mean just send a bunch of robots I’m sure the villain will eventually brick.

And for some reason we have kaiba in dsod saying card games are gonna end war when they're easily weaponizable and can create war on a grand scale. “The HISTORY of fighting is caused by foolish murderous wars! However, for you all… THE NEW FUTURE”

I mean the time travel failing for 3000 years makes sense considering that time travel naturally avoids grandfather paradoxes (hard paradoxes) that irrevocably change their timeline. they probably aren't just time traveling but also traveling to parallel universes where the events are slightly different causing them to fail, at least in that universe. the canon timeline is likely just the main universe, left (hopefully) unmolested by time travelers

If I may clearify 1 thing... it doesn't make sense and shouldent make sense to us tecnically, don't you know why? Yugioh Universes works on a completely different plane of existence than are universe bracket they both exist Simultaneously But if 1 set is destroyed it doesn't affect the rest from other branches just that bracket it originally originates from Thereby time laws and effects would also differ So the things that wouldn't make sense to us would make sense logically for them I know,😂😂 A boat load of scrambled eggs😅😅 but that's how universes would be, if are basic understandings of/with cause and effects in relation May not be relevant whatsoever to the Yugioh timeliness and if it is it surely couldent be an exact same basis because then the double Yugi not appearing before his grampa died (time reversed moment) then starts to make sense logically ( along w the melenium item being a possible alteration sense the pharaoh is over 3k years old already and is trapped in a loop needing Yugi Moto to complete his journey & also free himself)🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 p.s. dont hesitate to comment i need as much battle back on the topic 😅curious of responses 🎉

Not a fan of the logical paradox. Since it is using logic to explain something we do not understand. I personally like the idea that any actions of time travel are predestined by a god. So the actions of your timetravel into the past can already be seen. You personally just have not experienced that time travel. Also, you will only think you have free will. When in reality everything you did was under the control of a god.

So, bc of Paradox their are now 2 Yugi in 1 timeline as a result of this it make sense that one Pharoah get put to rest. So the Yugi in we that give Jaden his Wing Korribo is probably the 2nd Yugi and it would make sense later that it the 2nd Yugi that still has the Pharoah can send Jaden to the original Yugi or that whole Yugi vs Jaden could just be a modified shadow game

Wouldn’t the second Yugi just fade away, similar to Yusei’s timeline almost did? Yugi’s timeline doesn’t exist anymore since now Paradox never destroyed the city.

I THINK the idea of Paradox killing Pegasus after Battle City and the creation of Duel Monsters might have been him trying to kill him before Syncrho Monsters could be invented since they're the basis behind Momentum?

As for the Plothole of the Earthbound Immortals, I have to presume that maybe the cult and Dark Signers existed prior to their manipulations and were always gonna be Supernatural Terrorists, and then when Aporia went back in time he just sorta twisted things in a direction that would help his goal? Cause if they were responsible for all of it then that would mean the Signer stuff is magic bullshit they invented with future Science instead of just you know...typical Yugioh magic stuff. Which would be weird.

Jaden dueliny Yugi is basically their version of the main character of the Pokemon Gold/Silver battling the main character of Pokemon Red/Blue.

Bond Beyond Time could of had a bit longer to tie things up with the time travels, The movie to my recall wasn't a film in actual. More of a longer Yu Ie Oh episode.

The whole “why at that point did paradox attack Pegasus” I can clear up for ya. It was because of the millennium items stopping anything from “altering fate” it wasn’t until all the items were sealed(for the 2nd time) that paradox could return. That’s also why the fist guy was able to go back 3k years was because that’s when the items were first sealed

To be fair, some of the events they could’ve stopped to prevent the end of the world, they probably don’t know about like the millennium items in the tomb of the pharaoh.

there's a bit of time travel stuff in Arc-V as well. The timeline there gets re-written when Ray splits herself and Zarc in four along with their dimension, and then gets re-written AGAIN when Ray/Riley defeats Zarc/Yuya in season 3. Zexal also re-writes its own timeline at the end of the series with Astral using the Numeron Code to undo everyone's "deaths".

I think it's a cell paradox. When someone went back in time, they changed various outcomes. Doing so makes changes down the road. In an almost never-ending spiral. They question becomes who did what first.

The best way to understand time travel in any franchise is to not question it just think "it works" and enjoy the show.

I think maybe Illiaster was trying to balance changing the future vs ensuring it would go on. As Duel Monsters managed to stop a lot of bad shit and apocalypses from happening like Satan appearing and the Light of Destruction. Whos to say humanity would have survived if the medium to fight of evil was Hearthstone instead of Duel Monstets after all?

A lot of Japanese time travel stuff tends to be very timey wimey and vibes based, focusing on characters' feelings and motivations as some sort of higher power that transcends normal cause and effect.

Kamen Rider Den-O is my favorite example of this. It's time travel rules can barely be called rules. A monster will destroy a bridge in the past, so in the present the bridge will just suddenly disappear and everyone standing on it will suddenly be standing in midair and fall down. Having everyone forget you can cause you to cease to exist, but the power that's causing people to forget you can fail to work if one of those people really really likes you. The owner of the time train repeatedly warns that tampering with time can have disastrous consequences and then they tamper with time every two episodes and nothing happens. The main character is said to be a fixed point in time who cannot be altered by time travel until they alter his past to make him younger because his actor got too expensive. It's glorious madness.

Overthinking these kinds of shows can be fun, but at the end of the day the real answer is that they're just never going to be Primer and that's okay.
