Is this software good for beginner animators?

Would these programs work on a Macbook Air? or would i need to use a computer with a CD/DVD drive?

Well I was almost swayed because of your videos, but I get it now. I have to already know how to use the program in order to learn the program. There is no starting with the characters in the library already and learning from there. No. All anyone wants to talk about is character creation (which I can handle AFTER I learn other stuff thank you!!!!!), and I simply have no time for this. Hours and hours of searching and all I wanted... ALL I WANTED... was to load one of the characters in the library (that I guess are only there to look at like knick-knacks) and get started on a simple learner project. But I have no idea if I should load only one side, or all of the sides and then be forced to assemble or what!!!! I guess I'll find an alternative to this program. I can't waste my money on a product I can't even find the information on to actually learn to use. It's back to 3D animation for me, which is ironically easier and apparently faster after all.
