Nice review. I love listening to your reviews
ОтветитьIt's National Radio Today August 20, 2024
ОтветитьMan, that thing would be nice with a lighted dial! (All radios should have lighted dials IMO!). Many radios have red power-on LEDs that are always on (D-219, for instance). I wish manufacturers would simply change the red LED to a white or amber light and place it where it lights the dial up. It's there anyway--put it to use!
ОтветитьNothing spectacular for it's actual price 🤷. Hope you're fine my friend
ОтветитьLots of Chinese copies of the style and with the addition of SW and tf card mp3 player.
ОтветитьThis is only the GREATEST radio 📻 ever made. Reception is great and you NEVER hear crackle when adjusting volume. It is SUPER energy efficient. I listened 2/3 hours daily and batteries lasted years. Only bummer is no handle. But with the ergonomic design, so easy to carry with one hand. (Chinese knockoffs have handle). I bought it for $16 on Amazon in 2010. Bought it expressly for Dodger games and Rush Limbaugh
ОтветитьHow many radios do you have
ОтветитьBasic radio but still has beautiful sound for monaural. This would be a nice portable radio for a kitchen or garage.
ОтветитьTodderbert: it is the “Sony” name =big bucks for name recognition and a super heterodyne circuit instead of DSP that some people still crave just like vinyl records.
Have a great day! 73!
I really like the design of this one.
The basic aesthetics of the front face is proportionally pleasing. I think Sony is very good at this, combining nice design elements with good performance.
You almost can not go wrong purchasing products from Sony.
Hey that’s a cool radio but at that price it’s a tough sell with something like the sangean d-12 lurking around out there for a little less money. But if you’re a Sony fan I totally get it.
ОтветитьI'd like to see how it compares to its replacement, the ICF-19.
ОтветитьHej Todderbert, wow! The Sony ICF-F10 looks very nice. Too bad it's not very good at FM, as you mentioned. It's also a shame that Sweden has stopped its AM broadcasts. I can still get some AM stations, but the AM band is very quiet in Sweden. Take care, Todderbert, and have a pleasant day in Chicago.
ОтветитьI like Sony radios, but they charge A LOT for the brand name.
ОтветитьVery popular in Latin America, specially the ICF-18 which is about the same radio. Great sensitivity and selectivity on AM, fine on FM, batteries last very long. Very good audio quality. Cons: cheap plastics, knobs are flimsy as you noted, the volume control is just a trimmer not a real pot.
One more thing, if you drop it the antenna coil will break its connection to the PCB, AM disappears :-) have fixed many with that issue.
I have this radio, the battery consumption is very long, the speaker is a bit bassy... the downside is that the AM band has a small sound... I got it from my uncle, he bought it in 2014 for 20$. and can still be used today
ОтветитьQ. Why so expensive
A. Hipster tax
I like how you consistently use the same songs in every video. It gives us an actual comparison, instead of just an idea.
ОтветитьExcellent review as always. I bought one of these 10 or 15 years ago before they got ridiculously expensive for reasons I can't fathom. I had high hopes for the AM sensitivity but mine is virtually the same as that of my little Sony pocket radio of the same era, the ICF-S10MK2. Not too impressive for a more substantial radio. Assembly quality isn't that great either; mine also has the wobbly tuning knob, for instance. FM, as you said, isn't very selective. Good sound quality and great battery life. All in all I consider this a very average radio and certainly not worth what people are charging right now for them. For a radio in this size class that runs on D batteries and has good sound I would suggest the Panasonic RF-562D, which performs circles around this one and even includes shortwave.
ОтветитьTodderbert - I have the ICF-F10 radio. I love it! I’ve had it for a few years and it’s still working just fine. It’s a perfect addition for the severe weather kit - the 2 D-cell (LR-20) batteries last a long time - even longer because I always remove them before putting the radio back into the kit. Always enjoy your videos!
