ОтветитьI am the resident of this town. It is quite a time capsule in some ways. It is indeed pretty peaceful and nice town to live in. Love the nature and the cleanliness of the streets. Though it can get pretty boring and depressing during the winter season. There's a new European style housing being built in the new section of the city which look pretty stark to the old Soviet buildings. It's really sad that I had to leave couse of the war.
Also I feel like most people would prefer it to stay closed. They don't really want to have influx of people from the rest of russia, even though it would help the economy.
Why should they bother with the problems of others?! Their ancestors fought for the future and they're doing the same.
ОтветитьMy family is from Zhelenzogorsk
ОтветитьNewflash: the US has closed cities too.

ОтветитьI am actually from Sarov, well my dad is and we used to go there every summer, in fact, all nuclear testing grounds or factories are all hidden away even from the population.
Life there is fantastic, but a bit boring. The population is decreasing I would say due to the fact that there are hardly jobs there, all young people want to move to Moscow to at least have a chance. In Sarov, they have recently built some very modern buildings and look lovely as if they were trying to get more people into the city. Thing is, life is OK there, but it just gets boring, especially as a kid.
