The Allman Brothers were the second concert I ever went to in 1993. I was 16 years old and Dickey Betts was still in the group.
ОтветитьDon't forget blackfoot
Ответитьgreat interview Rickey medlocke is a genuine person and a Great guitar player 🎸
Ответитьmy cousin moved from boston area to jacksonville and told me this is the place to live
ОтветитьAll of the original members of Molly Hatchett are gone. How the f*ck is there a bunch of posers out there touring? At least Skynyrd has Ricky and Gary, but that ain't counting for much. And while I'm at it, I'm not very happy about ZZ Top continuing, either.
ОтветитьThey played sock hop at my high school Forrest. I am also Westside, off Blanding Blvd.
Ответитьmusic history and yes my Indian brothers are in this .
ОтветитьWestside🌵《☆》🍺😁🍕🇺🇸
ОтветитьLove Skynyrd but the Allman Bros were head and shoulders above everybody else (in America.)
ОтветитьI do not remember seeing Medlock on any LS albums before the crash? am I wrong?
ОтветитьIve said many times the two greatest American rock bands of all time are The Lynyrd Skynyrd Group and LA's The Doors. Beach Boys #3.
ОтветитьBLACKFOOT was my first REAL ROCK SHOW
Ответить50 freaking years ago. Ronnie gone. Steve is gone. Artemis Gordon gone.
ОтветитьMy mother is from Belzoni Mississippi. The center of the Blues. Went there to bury my mother in 92. That’s my roots. And Duane taught me how to play the Blues.whipping Post. One Way out. Willie Dixson. And the rest. Was where I learned the blues. While my dad. Lived it.
ОтветитьLynyrd Skynyrd. Is Not Just A Rock Band . Its A Lifestyle That blew the doors to Creativity into is own Genre Emulated over & over. From the Many Documentaries & Tid Bits here & There , I've Watched On Skynyrd 2 things stick in my Head #1 If you want to Know what Ronnie was about Listen to 6 songs & you will know, ANY 6 songs. #2 Which Brings tears up Is Ronnie Had never been to Alabama until that fateful day. HE KNEW his time was short, Free Bird, Sweet Home , The Bands Dedication to Real world Happenings "That Smell & Things Going on" Still relevant today. IF!!! I ever get a Time Machine The Skynyrd band is one of the first jumps back , Spend some nights in that old shack in the Swamp, maybe get my ass kicked by Ronnie LOL.( Poison Whiskey)
SKYNYRD'S perseverance is A bright like on A Lonely Dark Journey throughout MY life. Eternally Grateful for this Group For the Joy & Lessons that Momma NEVER told me. Swamp Swamp SWAMP Music! PEACE Brothers & Sisters.
I ran into an A&R rep from Atlantic records years back at I club I did sound at. I asked if he had any good southern rock bands come to his attention.
He laughed and said "No, and if I did I'd toss their demo in the trash"
Well.. 2 weeks later the label cut him loose. Karma is a heck of a thing...
Blackfoot band was awesome
ОтветитьI have had the great fortune of attending Lynard Skynard, Molly Hatchett, Blackfoot, The Allman Brothers, and several non Jacksonville Southern rock concerts. All were great and I treasure the memories. I got to meet Molly Hatchett after a show in Sacramento and they were all very nice albeit exhausted. Sadly most of these bands original members have died and are now basically just tribute bands. The reporter mentioned Molly Hatchett at the end as playing in Scandinavia. Not a single original member is still alive, so is it really Molly Hatchett?
ОтветитьLynyrd skynyrd band died October 20 1977.
ОтветитьShout out to the Comic Book Club on Forsyth St. where I first saw the Allman Bros. in 1969.
I was told that Skynerd also played there but it was after I had moved on.
Their music is a good reminders of what happened the new generation more than 50 years ago, politically, religiously, who became moral decay, and Americans should know this, right?Godspeed🤙
ОтветитьWas stoked to see Mofro on the list!
ОтветитьSimple Man says it all. Blue collar rock. Same as a lot of Michigan rock where I'm from.
ОтветитьLike they say.... And the rest is history... Very good video..
ОтветитьFrom Jersey, my favorite band of all time Blackfoot!
ОтветитьDuuuuuuuuuuvaaaaaaal!
ОтветитьI would love to visit Jacksonville!!!
ОтветитьThis isn't Skynyrd. Medlocke is riding on the coattails of the original lineup.
ОтветитьNo mention of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers? WTH
ОтветитьJacksonville is like motown Detroit.
ОтветитьLeft out The Classics IV.
Pretty good group, lots of hits.
🎼BRING ALL MY’ MULES OUT HERE ..!! 👞👞👞 🎶
ОтветитьJVZ may not be traditional Skynyrd thru and thru but along with Ricky Medlock its as close as were ever gonna get... so enjoy it or don't listen but there's a few of us that realize time changes things. Good or bad you get what you get. There's still alot of rock and roll coming from the DNA of the legendary Skynyrd genes. Those days are gone forever along with the music and lyrics of the cats responsible. At least most of them. There's still our man Gary Rossington. And Ricky Medlock may not have the solidarity it's takes to be like Gary. Nevertheless I still see Ricky's part bigger than Blackfoots Ricky ever was. That's another story for someday. Let me say Thank You to all that graced the stages and honky tanks in the name Lynyrd Skynyrd. You'll never be forgotten.
ОтветитьGreat piece -- good work and thank you, Tom
ОтветитьMedlocke was a smokin' drummer. Love his drumming and singing on "First and Last."
ОтветитьIt's kin of mindblowing that these guys were so influenced by British bands emulating our mostly black American rock and blues pioneers. It all came full circle with Allman Bros and Skynyrd. We took that form back home and moved it forward.
ОтветитьBob Burns - "For what a free bird is here, ain't nothing going to compare to the free birds we're all going to be later on. All of us."
ОтветитьI'm 65 years old started listening to there music I was 17 years old and we play there music every time we play
ОтветитьI always wonder why nobody talks about Blackfoot! Why can’t we have Blackfoot out there touring! I know Blackfoot Original badass Guitar Player is still out there! Blackfoot to me was the heaviest sounding southern rock band there ever was!
ОтветитьJacksonville was a great town back then.
ОтветитьAnd wheres the MFn Florida guitar Army..The Outlaws...
ОтветитьThank you so much Rock In The 904 for uploading this great info video, I appreciate it!
ОтветитьMan I’m from oklahoma, lot a good pickers here and from here, to us to put food on the table you had to know how to play country, rock, blues , blue grass, a little funk, you needed to know how to play a little bit of everything to get gigs, so throw it in a blender and pow you kinda developed a style
ОтветитьI saw Skynyrd lots of times in 70s but L S died in the plane crash.
ОтветитьI lived on the Westside of Jax from 1972 to 1984. Southern Rock was exploding on to the National stage at the time!! STILL some of my fave music! I have to say I had never heard the fact(?) that the first documented Blues concert was in Jax!!
ОтветитьRicky you're not real skynard
ОтветитьYeah, I'm from the west side also, till '69 . Ronnie Leslie.
Ответить15 in 1975 Boston southern rock was our favorite, car doors open, stereos cranking while we drank and drugged, cops left us alone, great times.
