Great and informative video, thank You! :)
Ответитьhow long should they be made
ОтветитьVery neat, thanks for sharing
ОтветитьYou showed us how to make the steel......
But you never mentioned the flint what kind ,size, and so on wish you had I knew how to make a steel but don't know about the flint 😕😞
As always……nice watchin’ you makin’🔥………which reminds me I need to make some more char cloth!
ОтветитьYou did good power tools are always dangerous. Iam 63 you learn over time or not to have common sense. I still have my body parts just don’t go crazy with tools. Be careful
ОтветитьDavid is trying to teach a primate way of making fire give him a break. If you got your kids doing it. Safety glasses and hearing protection fire extinguisher all the normal precautions
ОтветитьWhat material, rocks, or crystal can you use as a flint? Love these videos. Thanks
ОтветитьNice one 👍 Dave great tekneek good video thanks
ОтветитьI know this is an older video, but just a comment on your lanyard or fob. If you make it a little longer you have a cord for a bow for starting fire that way just in case.
ОтветитьThanks David!
ОтветитьI reccomend that you don't do what I'm about to"
Thanks, goodbye.
I don't have a cut-off wheel so, I annealed my file and cut it with a hacksaw.
I can't get a spark off of it. I tried chert, agate, and dacite. What am I doing wrong?
He has never had one explode, but he failed to add that one important word, YET, because eventually one will and if he's lucky he will be ok.
ОтветитьSaturate the ends of paracord with WHITE GLUE and let 'em dry overnight. They won't unravel and will be easy to poke through holes like shoelaces.
ОтветитьAny file will work as a fire steel?
ОтветитьIs there anything other than rocks that I can use to strike against the steel to see if it will spark?
ОтветитьGreat results!!
ОтветитьThx! ^^
Ответитьblade explodes cause not made for alot pressure from pushing: let it cut on its own/ tool do the job/not force it! And dont get it in a thin- tight gap and pinch it.. Booom!
ОтветитьLooks more like a Ferro rod striker than a flint and steel to me.
ОтветитьI was a welder fabricator for years and new had one explode they come apart with a chunk of they get bound up but never exploded on a normal grinder. Years I used them in fab demolition and construction. Also those file steels are throwing some of the best sparks I have seen!
ОтветитьAre those pine needles for the birds nests?
ОтветитьBrilliant stuff.
Ответитьhey david not sure if you check messages on old vods, Just was wanted to ask you why its better to round over the edge vs leaving it square and sharp? is it just to keep the flint from breaking to much? i was thinking after watching this i would leave one side rounded and one side shard square so i could use one side for flint and one side for fero rod.
ОтветитьNo protection for the lungs !!!
ОтветитьWhat kind of metal did you use?
ОтветитьOK I made two while I was at it but these files just will not throw a spark. None. can I heat them or beat them or just throw them away. Very disappointed in my craftsmanship project. can't believe I get NO spark.
ОтветитьEnjoy your videos Dave
ОтветитьMan I hate to see those old files get destroyed but I guess it’s better to have a new life than end up in the garbage dump.
ОтветитьLong sleeves to protect arms,,,, a GFCI to eliminate potential electrical shock or electrocution, a fire extinguisher because of the potential for a fire, face shield to protect face , not just eyes, paid up health insurance just because, and paid up life insurance because you just never know.
Ответитьhi david. i'm a retired boilermaker welder and you are correct on those disks. seem like when we started using them the younger hands never learned the art of the torch.
ОтветитьThat’s really cool!! I never thought about using a file or rasp for flint and steel. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьHi.
What kind of Stone do you use?
That is awesome ❤ great video
Ответить6 years after the fact, and now I'll be scouring NW Montana for that big chunk of Pyrite!
Thanks for the video!
Saya banyak belajar dari anda trimakasih telah membuat vidio edukasi ini...
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьSo darn cool
ОтветитьI had a disc explode on me and it took out my garage. Or was it the empty gas can I was cutting up?
ОтветитьPeople must learn with power tools they are a violent little machines The grinder is a very valuable tool . I have had them discs blow apart . People must have good gear . . love your fire steels
ОтветитьWitf are processed and unprocessed pine needles.
ОтветитьIt was funny as hell when you mentioned putting your handle back in I just started laughing like hell yeah the man come around and caught me I didn't have to handle in ,
so stupid lol :"
Oh by the way I forgot to mention face shield while grinding lol;'"
And on top of that safety glasses goggles and face shield
HOW RIDICULOUS,
I used to work nuclear shutdowns , anyone knows nuclear shut down knows what I'm talking about.
Have a great one.
🤔😏🥱👉🙄👈👉😳
ОтветитьFirst time seeing this, very educational video! Thanks for sharing! Awesome
ОтветитьSubbed
ОтветитьThanks 😊
ОтветитьI made a nice knife out of one for $2
ОтветитьLooks great to me. I wouldn't change a thing. Wow that was quick.
ОтветитьToday is 3-20-19 and I just watched this video again. I noticed that my hands were shaking a lot in this one. Back then, as it turned out, my Synthroid medication was too high and it caused some pretty bad "shakes". It's kind of distracting now that I watch it back again. Yes, I still have a slight tremor which often comes with aging but nothing like what was going on here. LOL! It makes me want to do another Steel Build Video. We'll see!
