Coming after a year - glad everything has become much cheaper and prices are established. Certainly I understand the price increase over AM4 since LGA socket, pcie5, ddr5 and TSMC price increase are playing their roles in that.

the only board that is really missing: Asus ROG Strix X670E-F GAMING WIFI.. That one has enough features over the X670E-E gaming wifi. And less expensive. TUF is Okayisch, PRIME got the wrong color sceme. Was nice if there was a black version also.

Save your Money$ AND PICK ANY OTHER Brand.... Asus has failed as a Tech Company, after 15yrs I've decided the X670 Family is worthless and Blew up the X670XE Asus motherboard (Using heavy Explosives to make sure it was unUSABLE {Editors notes, it Melts as Fast as Being turned on} and so i've optied for MSI or Gigabyte to use PCI 5.0 with some Stability... Sad day, but I needed a system that didn't Forget my PIN more then ONCE!!!!!!!!!! I rather Build a Linux system then use ASUS....and then attach Opiniheimer as a Support Agent... more Stable than ASUS in 2023

I have a question, as I am very confused by those Asus boards. For those boards with the Intel JHL8540 USB4, if I read all over the internet, the USB can also be used as a Thunderbolt, as they say it's work on the same protocol. . On the manual from Asus for the BIOS settings, there is a section mention the settings for the Thunderbolt. In de board manual however they don't speak about the Thunderbolt. So I emailed Asus about this and there they say if it's not mentioned in the manual there is no Thunderbolt, but it's hard to believe, that on the extreme, for the price, they have disabled the Thunderbolt and for the cheaper boards they have enabled.

Can you tell me if you have tested the extreme and checked the BIOS if there's the Thundebolt section mentioned?

Nice and good stream by a competently presenter! So let´s go to the stuff, I think in generally the prices of all AM5 mainboards are complety extrem overpriced, especially the boads from ASUS, they are more much more than just overpriced! I remember the a X570 AM4 mainboard costs beetween 200,- to 340,- $/€ and now we have to pay around 400,- $/€ for AM5 boards that´s catastrophic to much.
The normal user buy a Ryzen 5 or a Ryzen 7 7700 or 7700x which cpus cost by us in Germany beetween 230,- to 340,- $/€ and it´s clear disporportionate to pay more for an mainboard.
OK there´s the Ryzen 9 but only a few people buy such extreme cpus! So I think in the shadow of this extreme overprices around 90% of all sold Asus AM5 mainboards would have thre B650 chipset, 5% the B620 and only 5% an X670e chipset.

Does it make sense to choose a x670 over a B650 considering upgradability in the future?
I really have a tough time choosing a motherboard for my first pc build, oter specs I chose:

AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
Intel Arc A770 Graphics 16 GB GDDR6
Cooler Master MWE Gold 750 Full Modular V2 PSU
Kingston DDR5 FURY Beast 2x32GB 5600
DeepCool CC560 WH Midi Tower
DeepCool AK620 White
Samsung 980 PRO 1TB M.2 SSD

Using it for Game dev in particular, noticed with my current pc that I tend to run out of Vram and memory, so that's why I chose the a770 with the 16gb of vram for a reasonable price and I need a motherboard with 128gb of memory capability for future expansion

ASUS offers among the highest Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) phases for AMD motherboards, but the price is not cheap compared to other competitors like GIGABYTE, MSI, ASROCK. I think if you really want to test all the motherboards then first please states how many VRM phases that motherboard has, normally higher VRM phases offers better stability and performance. Installed the most power hungry graphic cards that you can think of to test it, and record the temperature for 24 hours test. Since the higher VRM phases motherboards are built for those who are working non-stop everyday. If less than 24 hours, then test it for at least 16 hours since Bill Gates said he is working at least 16 hours everyday including holiday. Japanese-Taiwanese ICT industry people said they are working at least 19 hours everyday but has holiday. So I think you can test at least 2 set of motherboard system, those who are following the working style of American Bill Gates 16 hours per day running 7 times per week. Another system of motherboards are using Japanese-Taiwanese working hours style 19 hours per day 5 times per week. Plus another system of motherboards are using Israeli super hardworking but also super lazy style of working.. Israeli people are working 24 hours non-stop but they only do it once or twice per day, other than that is just sleeping, eating, drinking, laughing.. So max 2 days, 48 hours non-stop working motherboards but only 2 times per week.. American-Bill Gates style of working is at least 16 x 7 = 118 hours per week, Japanese-Taiwanese style of working is at least 19 x 5 = 95 hours per week, Israeli style of working is maximum only 48 hours per week. 🤔
