What about service intervals and parts availability? If those are again similar, than we can always toss a coin 😅

For what I see, looking at the handlebar and the mirrors when you were riding them the BSA is smoother than the Royal...

Are the engine vibrations worse on the BSA, being a thumper?

RE for sound, BSA for looks

RE Interceptor is winner for me. Looks better sounds better and seemed to me rev quicker when blipping throttle so to me I would think the launch getting of expressway is better with RE. Also, the engine bits on the Goldstar are lack luster looking then that big cooler on front adds to the ugly. RE looks better in many areas. Normally I like the single piston sound the RE 350 and 500 sound great nice little thump but, didn't really get that from the BSA.

Test rode the Interceptor. Wasn't expecting massive performance obviously but it didn't have much character. Saw both side by side yesterday. Not much between them but the top of the range BSA tipped it on looks. Radiator was not an issue in the flesh If the single cylinder engine has more character then that's the one I'd go for.

I realized it's very therapeutic for me to watch these clips of you riding them from a driver's perspective on top of the bike.
For me personally this particular RE sounds better but like you said they are both good in their own way so it boils down to preference. Also if you change exhausts and stuff that can have a big impact on the sound of a bike doesn't it?
Thank you and cheers! 👍👏

BSA liquid cooled, Enfield has an oil cooler, very different animals. Enfield looks more authentic. 🏁🏁

One thing you didn't mention is seat height and for me at 5' 4" the Royal Enfield is a no go with its 805mm seat height and largely inaccessible side stand. The BSA is doable, although I would probably put lower Hagons on it and a lower seat if ever accessories start getting made for it.

I think they've missed the target with the BSA, calling it a Gold Star. The Goldie that we of a certain age (presumably the target audience) remember is the B34 Clubman's and this new iteration bears little if any resemblance, either visually (clip-on or low bars, swept back pipe?) or audibly (where is the whistle on the over-run?). It's more like a reborn B33, but that was a mule, not a sexy cafe racer. No doubt a decent machine with its Rotax engine, but aesthetically????????

Hi I have a Interceptor three years now I love it just like a 60s/70s Triumphs with out the leaks (I do love the 60s Triumphs though) it even has adjustable valves lock nut type. Very clever Enfield.
BSA has shims what a nightmare when you are miles from a dealer and a pain to adjust. put a TEC stinger on the interceptor instant improvement.

Indian icons the Brits gave up on bikes years ago even Triumph went to Thailand and Harley just signed a deal in China. The west is a minor market now, the liquid cooled BSA seems bunk and over exagerated a vintage GB500 or even SRX 600 will perform as well or better. Hats off to India for making them affordable.

Interceptor is way better in finish, build and finish .
The huge oil cooler silver paint finish on the crankcasing is cheap and nasty both spoiling the retro look .
The classic interceptor looks way better .
Chome and alloy casings are real retro touches but its just a better bike for the money.

Agree with your comments about the gold anodised rear shocks. Seems a strange choice for a retro bike. Surely RE could order them in black?

Nice review...
I do think the BSA looks better apart from the large Radiator, but the RE seems to be the more adult bike..it sounds better too.
A plus are the Brembo s on the BSA.
I think I know how a merger of the 2 would come out like😂

Hello from New Hampshire.
I like the appearance of both, with a slight edge for the BSA at a distance. But, the INT650 can be customized more easily and thus gain points for style and performance, especially by shedding some unwanted weight.

On a side note, I feel it's interesting that each needs an oil-cooler while the Kawasaki W800 lives without one (albeit, the W800 produces less horsepower and torque with a larger internal displacement).

I remember the old classic Beezers from half a century ago, and absolutely loved them. Today, the motor looks good, but the radiator? Too darned modern. The Enfield looks better without one. I do like the sound of the Enfield and her looks, but the BSA would be anyone's fine addition to their house as well.
Sir, with all due respect...you spend way too much time talking about like, subscribe, and your bloody algorithms. You're good, and I'm glad you hit 700,000 and all, but...just have a fantastic week anyway, alright?

The closer one pays attention to the detail of each bike, the better the RE looks. And the BSA falls short in a few crucial areas for me. There is no comparison between the two major components of these bikes... the chassis and the engine. In both cases RE wins hands down. That Harris Performance Chassis is as perfect as it can get. The 650 twin looks real because it is real. It does not pretend to be something it is not. Look at both engines... to me the differences are glaringly obvious. RE put a lot into that engine design and built an authentic machine that takes me back to what these bikes are based... from a distance the BSA looks great and the appearance is very close to the look of the original BSA... but, as you move in closely to examine details. The BSA falls short of the Interceptor in nearly every detail. The BSA chassis appears to be borrowed from the Jawa 42, as well as the tank and side panels... the Jawa is a 300cc bike... again, short cuts to get the bike to market and keep it cheap... I am still amazed at the quality and value of the Interceptor. Just do not see the same value in the BSA. I assume the BSA will not fair as well as the RE in the long term... that chassis and other cheap items look like they will have a short life.

I don’t think the exposed seam on the gas tanks is very attractive the original bikes they are repressing did not have that and Triumph did the same thing the only ones who had exposed seams in the old days was cheap Japanese bums and it looks cheap

The Beezer is better looking. The engine still looks British made. I'm sorry they did not fit a lightning engine, twin disc front on inverted fork. Maybe some high performance rear shocks would be welcome but aftermarket is the other way of getting those. RE I've always had the soft spot for but they've become asian in appearance and the engine looks like a Kawasaki or Honda now. So for me BSA almost takes the win. Except Triumph is here with a Bonneville. See ya.
