Darth Vader: And the Force? Well that's just microscopic bacteria in your bloodstream called midichlorians
Luke: Look, if you're not going to take this seriously, I'm out

Luke has an inherent flaw in his thinking. If the midoclorians are supposed to help with the connection to the force that inherently means with effort that force sensitive on average will be more powerful. Thus making midoclorians a fundamental measurement of a potential jedi.

Also probing another mind is very sith and wrong. So the jedi had it right with consensual blood testing..

I've always wondered how often if at all The Jedi retested for midichlorian count. My thought is that perhaps one's midichlorian count acted like the muscles of the body. Some might be naturally born with more or less potential than anybody else, but working them makes them grow and neglecting them causes them to atrophy.
My thought is that basically, as a person uses and taps into The Force more, their midichlorians multiply in response. If the person never uses The Force, or cuts themselves off from it like Jake Skywalker did, then their midichlorians stagnate and their ability reduces. By this same theory, The Dark Side could be compared to heavy steroid use for muscle gain. Quick and easy gains, but brutal on the body in the long run.

Great discovery by Luke. However I would still use both. One to measure potential and the other to measure aptitude and effort.

I find it odd that Luke called himself a jedi , but apparently he hated or disagreed with everything about them.
He allowed attachments
He used the dark side ( there's nothing wrong with that. )
He sought revenge.
He had no age requirement.
He hated the midis.
He didn't " find " children.
In the new canon , he willingly allowed darkness and evil to run rampant for decades.
He decided to murder his nephew on a whim .
And those are just a few examples.
Even a complete sociopath like Mundi was a far better jedi than Luke.
Anyone who praises this fraud as a hero really needs to take a deep look at themselves and reevaluate their their principles.

One's potential in the force shows that all the midichlorians/the force potential in one's body can be shown as a rounded game ui bar.

I have a way that a popular game called "SUPER KIRBY CLASH"(on Nintendo switch) has a idea that can help with the idea of "Force potential". Within the game, Kirby can buy and use the higher level weapon and armor have longer bars until you gradually and eventually reach the highest one, the level or your Kirby(puffball) character will depict the potency or vitality of the potential, yet if you see the gameplay or images of Super Kirbyclash game it's on your descretion.

So, I don't want to say this should have already been obvious, but even in A New Hope, Leia was able to rebuff not only a torturous interrogation droid, but Vader, and I doubt he was just standing in the room like a second droid, so unless any living noble can train themselves to resist mind control, which Luke did sort of used to have a line about, before Lucas cut it, I think people already knew about the push out effect, and yet Vader didn't assume she wad Force sensitive.

Still, I do like them having another means that wasn't blood-dependent, like how Sith Lords found apprentices for 1000 years, and as an EU fan, I appreciate that, like wirh Hethrir, his wife Rillao, and their son, you can easily have two powerful Force-users breed, and their child has no ability actually use the Force, like a Jedi would.

The problem probably is that probably that people felt midichlorians represent one's power level, rather than one's untrained natural ability to connect to the Force. It should have been made clearer that it's not like the power levels of Dragonball Z. The Force flows through everyone. And these days, it seems more clear that anyone dedicated can be trained. I do wonder if increasing one's attunement to the force, also enables your body to sustain more midichlorians, increasing your M-Count? Anyone know?

Agree with Luke. Obi-Wan was an outstanding example of someone who's M count wasn't high, yet he honed his contact with the Force, so much so that Vader on Mustafar who defeated Dooku, couldn't beat Obi-Wan. It's more than beating someone - it's about using the Force.. opening your consciousness to the Force.

This is good video. I agree. Midichlorians mean nothing if you don't train if you don't have discipline. Like if you amazing skill in football or basketball if you don't train it doesn't mean anything. You need to honor your lightsabers skills, powers. Train, put your heart into it. That's the most important. May the Force be with you too😊

Dude this is a cool insight. I think we have been lead to believe that midichlorian count was the end all be all to determine if a sentient being was ‘force sensitive’. This idea implies that it is not just a beings biology that makes them suitable for Jedi Training but moreso their temperament. The part of them that is outside of their own biology; perhaps even the part of them that transcends it. I will say Luke is incomplete in his wisdom here though. I believe it would still be prudent to collect the blood samples of all Jedi (even perhaps on a semi regular time interval so that the Order would have the understanding of the interaction between the two metrics for force sensitivity. If Luke is correct, which I believe the implication is that he is, it is a truly groundbreaking discovery for the Jedi Order as a whole.

I thought midiclorians were just simple orgasms that lived everywhere and fed off the force energy of force sensitives, like a underwater volcano has muscles and stuff around it. So the midiclorians are more decently packed in powerful force users compared to the average person.
And also explains why blood transmission dosent make a force wielder out of a average person, because that person can't naturally produce enough force energy to feed to influx of new midiclorians. Can't feed the population if the body can't produce the required amount I'm the first place.

Another similar point everyone learns at a different pace. Some people can learn and understand things faster than others. This does not mean he can not learn it. It just means they need to use a different method of learning and to be able to see through to the end.

What's interesting is qui gon measured anakin but beyond that midiclorians weren't mentioned again. So to ask that is interesting because in one way yeah it's good to know the midichlorian count in retrospect its still part of the force so to ignore them is in one way narrowing overall view of the force. At the same time, yeah you never want to look for students purely base on midichlorian count as either jedi or sith because while power us one thing determination and morality are another thing entirely. Meaning while power is good its not everything where some one lacks in power they make up for it in other ways.

Fans who got into a tizzy about midichlorians weren't paying enough attention in the original trilogy. That the Force was strong in the Skywalker family implies there's a physical component to Force aptitude that is genetic. It didn't help that the biggest detractors loved to trot out the scare crow fallacy in saying that it meant that the Force was midichlorians.

I think I would end up using both methods. However I would only take a midichlorian on those who passed the mental probe and began Jedi training. The reason being that if a high count is a measure of potential, or how easily one can grasp the concept of the force, then it could also be a red flag for those who risk turning to the Dark Side. For someone who is already capable of intuitively grasping and acting in the Force, the Dark Side - which Yoda himself described as quicker, easier, more seductive - could prove an almost irresistible double whammy with a high count.
