Joseph gordon-levitt started acting when he was 6 years old. its actually a quite small group of people who get superstar famous at a very young age. just like macauley culkin from home alone. he even said that it can be very weird as a kid having that kind of life at such a younge age. its kinda interesting. and definitely unique in some way cause most kids at that age were outside catching bugs, building sandcastles or whatever. but joseph is an awesome guy and have made some amazing films in my opinion :-D thanks for the video!

He was all over with this speech, he says 'paying attention' to your task is a better 'flow' result than 'getting attention' from others; I agree with this. He then says a better solution to all that is to 'give attention' to others, to collaberate with others; which sounds nice but isn't going to create a better 'flow' than 'paying attention' in regards to your task. Also 'giving attention' will create more of a desire for social media attention.
I have a better resolution from this; work on the 'paying attention' part. That'll build focus and the ability to get rid of distractions, which will create that creative flow in your work. Paying attention will as well help you disregard the social media addictions. There you go, take it or not.

Teens watch all this...I work with them. They are seeing a winner and loser...not 2 different artists expressing themselves. Now Beyonce is making country music?? I think that while his theory can remain true in circumstances like social media or being an actor, it’s not necessarily true. As a musician or comedian, with a desire to draw attention, you have the creative endeavor to achieve that in the joke you wrote, song you wrote, etc. If the material was never made to draw attention, it’s boring. And if it’s boring, it’s not great art. Great art compels the viewer, and as an artist you would want to seek to reach a larger audience, for more to witness the creativity you have to provide. We are social creatures, the truth is that we don’t make art just for ourselves, it’s for others to witness. And the more creative, the more attention is drawn, so with that being the goal post, creativity should flourish. I write jokes, I have never been motivated to write a joke to zero audience or recognition. An infinite amount of jokes that just make me laugh are worthless in the grand picture. They need to be shared.

When one kid or actors get lotd of attention versus kids who im ignoring at home.. because my brain craves conversation..

When a child doesnt get attention .. they crave it like a child without hugs or security…. I sought out wrong attention because i didnt know what right attention looked like. AOL came out when i was 13 and my dad was lost because of war mind set. So i got to pay attention to my siblings and mommy since i was 13….

Now im the parent on the net not paying attention cuz it feels better then mundane cooking, cleaning or Talking about Things the 8 year old is interested in.. thats exhausting..

Or is it? Compared to the 30 second dopamine dumpe of the net…. Or the feeling of releasing tension to help others see differently.. not holding all i see and know .. feels like release.. and i dont know if that re-lease of my insite…. Will get me attention or not.. a’tension sometimes .. i feel bad for not osying attention to my son.. but my 1st world problems seem like being a voice for 3rd worlds who are in war zones or in slavary .. seems like my family could take a hit so their families take less hits.. and maybe people pay attention to how our actions and Views and “likes” cost others their peace of mind.. what we put attention in or who we pay attension to that is crying for attention to be heard.. my kid safe at a park playing with other kids.. or kids needing attention by someone who directs others attension to kids with even less attention starving in their worlds..

Two shape the world view from one world to the 3rd world that all live in one planet.. but the gravity of war and slavary thats not rounded ….

How to make a flat view of one world from rounds ands’fear(sphere) if sacrifices of those safely in 1st world throwing curves of whirled at 3rd arent maid …

Focusing and paying attention is also difficult when there are gaps in your knowledge.

I think he’s describing flow state.

I love that he sets out to absolutely live this idea of 'paying attention'. There's the age old adage of the actor, which is that acting is 're-acting' and that the very backbone of good acting is listening. Nothing of worth can come through a performance if it's simply about 'my turn to talk/here are my awesome lines'....'this will get people's attention.' I say this having worked in theatre and film for 25 years. I just love how humbly he speaks of being as susceptible to seeking attention as anyone else. But his focus on the creative moment of collaboration is what motivates him. This is a great talk by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and absolutely runs in line with the actor I hoped he was (is). So inspiring.

I want to make the argument that being LESS creative leads to contentment.

We should learn to accept that our ideas, hopes, and dreams are being stolen from us in order to train LLMs and AI. We receive no compensation or recognition for our creative works.

Stop feeding the internet. Stop dreaming. Stop creating. Stop posting. Your hard earned creativity will only be used against you and others.

Large Language Models and Artificial Intelligence will steal your creativity and implement more creative was to make you even more miserable. Enslave us even more. Make us even more subjugated.
