It's a gross exaggeration to say that those who leave Chicago flee Illinois. I lived in Chicago prior to marriage and moved out of the city to the suburbs to raise a family, this is incredibly common, true of my entire friend group. It's the only logical thing to do, you can get a house for 50% off what it would cost in city limits (north side, anyway) and much better schools. Loved the first chicago video, loved Dilly's tour of Chicago, but I can't get through this video or the video with the cop, just gross exaggerations and viewers should certainly take their opinions with a grain of salt. Left Chicago for college (grew up in the suburbs) and while I loved visiting, the joke I had with fellow Chicagoland yearmates was that the mob never left the city, it just changed titles.

The destruction of Meigs was a federal crime. Daley should be in prison for the millions in tax-payer dollars that he destroyed. How that nefarious and illegal activity was swept under the rug is the perfect illustration of Chicago corruption, and the two legal systems in our country.

As a former Chicagoan who now does govt work in another major city, it's entirely possible to set up contracts with very restrictive terms on who qualifies to bid, so I hope Chicago wakes up on the parking kiosks and finds ways to only get local contractors for new contracts.

Chicago is the prime example of how this country has been run for decades. Politicians have been selling out this country bit by bit for short term gains thats always in their favor. Eventually getting employed buy the entity they have brokered with. Majority is foreign companies tied to foreign governments. We slaves have been sold.

chicago is basically at that crucial point where they could prevent disaster and turn things around but if they don't change course they'll end up like some of the other cities peter has shown us. crooked politicians get into these cities and trash the place for personal gain for 1-3 decades until it hits rock bottom then rich businessmen buy everything up at discount prices and fix everything up over another decade or so - and the cycle continues.

As corrupt as Chicago is I bet New Orleans would give it a run for it's money.

So basically the decision makers, decide on what puts the most money in their pockets and not what's best for the city. Got It.

Sounds strange but this video made me proud to be born and raised in Chicago. There is so much good that media misses and yes it definitely has problems. I will never denied that. But it seems like we could change it around quickly and get back on track.
