Ответитьa year later and the Eiki/ Bell & Howell units are the expensive ones 🤣
ОтветитьIM NOT A HIPSTER IM NOT A HIPSTER... Ok maybe I'm a little hipster
ОтветитьSoo awesome..I NEED ONE NOW..LUV THIS STUFF
ОтветитьHA !! FUNNY I was just thinking of Simon and Garfunkel Bridge Over Troubled Water on reel to reel while looking through these and you say the movie Baby Driver too strange !
ОтветитьI imagine thin, double sided sticky tape would be ideal for sticking the VHS tape to your card stock. Super cool video! Those seem pretty perfect for LoFi
ОтветитьNobody in my elementary class used this tho besides me.
Also got me in trouble.
This thing got me in trouble in
Elementary.
I talked over all the cards saying
Dumb things.
The teacher was mad about it and
Had to redo all of the cards with
Her own voice.
Kid Koala's fave toy!
ОтветитьDoes anyone know where you can get the cards for this thing?? For less than $20 for 5……
ОтветитьDidn’t even get to the end of video before searching eBay!
ОтветитьOh God now I need one thank s🤦🏻
ОтветитьThis is so sick!
Great video.
Thanks mate. Now I need one. Hahaha! What a beautiful machine
ОтветитьYou would be EXCELLENT as a music composer for American Horror Story.
ОтветитьWe used to have one of those in primary school I'd sit there and record my voice and other people's. Please can you lo fi a drum loop???
ОтветитьI saw Autechre at The Reach in 1996, they used one of these with a loop.
Ответитьdo you think ironing the loop slightly would help to smooth out ridges? and would that distort the data?
ОтветитьWires. Just saying. You know I'm going to watch every video and I'm going to say Wires. So there.
Ответитьwhat does it sound like when you record something on one, then play it back and record it on another, then play it back and record it on the first one again and so on?
ОтветитьEnded up finding a 'parts only' Califone unit on Ebay for $30 shipped. Turned out it just needed some lubrication and a good cleaning. The volume pot also needed some tuner cleaner but it works almost as good as new now. I probably only put in about an hour of my time to it it all straightened out. Now I just need to cannibalize a VHS tape to make some cards. Thanks for the inspiration, Hainbach!
ОтветитьWhat is the name of the recorder
ОтветитьHach schön das die alte Magnetkartenkiste bei dir so ein gutes Zuhause gefunden hat. Die Karten damals zu finden war garnicht so einfach, aber ich hätte wohl keinen besseren Käufer dafür finden können als dich.

boards of canada
ОтветитьI remember using this machine
ОтветитьAny idea where you could find cards for these now? I have an old reader, but can't find inexpensive cards.
ОтветитьUgh 😖 i had that exact same casio, i still cant beileve i thought taking it apart to repair it was a good idea....r.i.p
ОтветитьScratchin' shenanigins... scri-scri-Scratchin' shenanigins. Top lo-fi stuff!
Ответитьyeh theses are not 25$ anymore hahaha
ОтветитьInsane! Beautiful,
ОтветитьThe device that got me and a friend in trouble in kindergarten. We recorded silly noises over some "official" cards. Seems there wasn't a very good write protection in the design.
ОтветитьHuge Boards Of Canada vibes ❤❤
ОтветитьAmazing!!!! I want one!
Ответитьplease release the song that you made in this video
ОтветитьI comment this video only in hope that Heinbach will like my comment. :)
Ответитьthere is technically no limit to how much analogue data that would fit on that tape. if songs was stored in gamma wavelenghts and then recorded on the tape you only have to slow it down enough and it chould sound like real sound for a long time. you would need a doppler converter to play it of.
ОтветитьSo cool
ОтветитьFor making loops you should try to give the cards a natural curve first by slowly bending them on something over a night or two. Maybe a tiny bit of heat to get it slightly softer. If you can get a close enough curve with the plastic you should be able to bend and splice them together cleaner.
ОтветитьYou need longer cards
ОтветитьThis is great! Though my first thought was this was going to show up in a horror movie hah
ОтветитьI just saw that they make a cheap version that only looks like it has a play head. I am thinking of picking up one of those, too. I am hoping to use it like an inline tape delay. Hope it works!!!
ОтветитьI really love the reverse effect of the card reader. Anyone know any tracks or genres that utilize this effect?
Ответитьthat drum beat was so whack hahaha. otherwise amazing stuff.
