If this region becomes Demilitarized zone and becomes a tourst spot or some kind of free zone area, then we may see 2 civilisational powers will finally settle down. China, being the larger power must show bigger heart. India needs chinese investments while China needs a huge market for their goods. India has a lot of issues such as unemployment, rapidly growing population etc. China, being a much more developed nation must in fact engage with India for mutual benefit becz a stable and prosperous India is in the interest of Chinese. Hope good sense prevails.

..........Why Nehru expanded Northern Borders with China during 1947-1962???
These are main reasons...
1) Britain left India hurriedly so Nehru annexed/ merged Hyderabad, Manipur and Kashmir etc small nations or Princely States in 1948..
2) Nehru invaded Goa twice and merged with India in 1961...
3) After annexation of Goa in 1961, Nehru and Indian Army morale increased strongly so Nehru tried to merge " Aksai Chin" from 1950 to 1962 so India- China War happened ( Aksai Chin was a vast barren lands so British- India government never showed it in any Indian maps). Aksai Chin was always under Tibetans control and Aksai Chin belongs to Tibet forever....
4) Indira Gandhi annexed Sikkim in 1975 by using Indian Military forces. India tried to annex Nepal and Bhutan failed because America, UN and China protected Nepal and Bhutan from Indian expansionism during 1950-1975...........

SG, you missed 3 imp reasons: A. Massive infra, tech & equip upgrade by india in last 5yrs. B.Moving tanks 'first' on tops overlooking the chinese side. C.Modi elected as Pm 3rd term so no chance to deal with congress or weak opposition.

In wikimedia commons map of indo china border in 1963 post the sino pak border treaty, we can see that india claims the borders set by the same treaty except sakshgam valley unlike the west. Why so?

SG not sure you read this right. Himalayan heights are not very conducive for Chinese soldiers. So having secured Bangla for radiating heat outwards and Pakistan already on board there is no need to keep sitting at the great heights.

CHINESE are liars and how can we be sure, they will honor their agreements? Things to ponder. In any case, INDIA must remain in strength at the LAC, 365 days of the year forever. I personally feel they will still start some mischief at their timing. Personally, I feel CCP must collapse, & India must make it happen, ROC take over CHINA and we should get back all of Aksai Chin. Under CCP ruling it will never be possible.

China is not doing any favours to us by withdrawing their forces, they are doing it for themselves. They are facing serious financial crisis and wish to focus for now more on overcoming it. They are never to be trusted. India shouls continue to stay alert and continue to build up it's defences and border infrastructure.

This video was not of the standard of a journalist who is a veteran and generally less biased. But this video appeared to be from a jumping jack andh bhakt, who is more keen to suggest that status quo ante has been arrived at. Whereas the Chief of the Army Staff and FM themselves have categorically stated that it's just a step ahead towards a long drawn process which may or may not happen in the near future. Why is he in such a hurry. With China, he should know it well, one is never sure, they say something and do the opposite at will. SG relax. Maybe Maharashtra elections exuberance is on display to project the vishwaguru, oh no now it's Vishwamitra. See the goal post changed. Modi ji seemed most apprehensive about the future of BRICS in the light of display of positivity by Putin. Standing on two boats is never easy. SG understands that well. So many tactical details in the video were to attract the audience and sound impressive, but we're not really required.

Army and air force deployment is massive. Many new roads are being built to improve connectivity. One su h is between Demchok to Manali which will pass through record altitude of over 18000ft.

Also, Guptaji you are too senior and accomplished a journalist to attempt to show off.

When Henry kissinger made secret trip to China in 1971 to make groundwork for nixon-mao encounter, he found several slogans against amerika on road & also board in his room written in English " world should unite 2 throw American imperialism & their running dogs ". When it was reported to Mao, he dismissed them as empty words. Same way In 1954, Nehru was given huge applause to his hindi speech . All while PLA constructing roads into Indian territory. It took 8years for nehru 2 realise that Chinese grand welcome doesn't always mean friendship.Chinese say one thing, mean one thing & do all together another. Deception is natural 2 them
