I like watching reaction videos, it is truly fun seeing others reaction to songs i really love.
Your video was in suggestions to watch, and I am glad I did.
It is very obvious that you truly enjoy the music.
I think we are alike in that aspect.
I don't want to just hear music. I love when it grabs my very soul and takes it on a journey.

The windmill is a general heavy metal headbang move, but Floor is famous for it. Her windmills are practically legendary XD

The more I think about it, the more I believe either Tuomas was in love with Tarja or saw her as his own muse, and somehow things changed after she got married. Obviously it took time, as she got married in 2002 and fired in 2005, but I guess this 3-minute reference is a metaphor for the 3-year gap between 2002 and 2005. Although I can't tell, my guess is that this was the main reason for firing her, even if she was actually becoming more and more distant from the band as they stated in the open letter.

This is also compatible with the fact that he started a relationship with Johanna Kurkela years later, in 2009.

There are multiple references to Tarja in the album this song belongs to (Dark Passion Play). In this song the part related to the child (Tuomas) who's being raped again and again may have to do with him being suffering all this time. Eventually the old naive Tuomas died and a new version of him was born, nor better neither worse, just different. And by naive I mean "perhaps he still believed she might come back at some point during these 3 years" (with all my respects to Tuomas, of course).

I'd like to suggest some Ne Obliviscaris from Australia. They're one of those "musician's" bands, and their song "And plague flowers the kaleidoscope" is part of the curriculum at a university in Australia. Whether or not you make a reaction video, please check them out. The live performance of "And plague..." in Colorado 2016, is a great start. If you're into that, then I highly recommend "Painters of the tempest" pt 1,2,3. Cheers! You got a sub from me!

For everyone comparing him to mozart.. Dont.. T. feels sorry for himself in every song he makes, aka its mostly about him. MoZart wrote songs about every feeling in life, sadness, hapines, joy etc. that said. yes T is a good, even great songwriter but. nothing compared to mozart.. Have a good day everyoone!

Hey MTR, Loved your reaction. Would love to see you do a reaction of Phantom of the Opera featuring Tarja from the End Of An Era concert back in 2005. Very fitting, since this was the concert that Tarja was let go at the end of the concert, and as such began the journey of The Poet And The Pendulum. Liked and subscribed!!

Tarja didn't do that. Floor does the 'windmill' because she is Dutch.

It was great taking the Nightwish ride with you. What a band. Holopainen is the 21st century Jean Sibelius, or what Jean would be composing had he been around now. Sibelius, Tuomas, you been working on anything? Sure, J.S., there's this one. Sibelius, saying damned sweet, kid.

I thoroughly enjoyed your explanations and comments, I loved your feel for this amazing work of art, your respect for it and these incredible artists. None of our words can convey the extraordinary emotional experience of their performance's. I am 69 years old and have been going to concerts for 57 years, I'm a great grandfather of four, This music has allowed me to feel things in ways that were always there just out of reach of my mind (or my heart). I am more then a fan I am grateful, Its nice to meet a fellow traveler.

One of the best Poet and the Pendulum reactions I've seen. Most of the time, people encourage reactors to research the backstory behind this song before listening, and in a lot of cases, that does add a lot to the reaction, but sometimes, and this is definitely one of those cases, often when it's a reactor who has a lot to offer when it comes to feedback about the music, it is better to come at it fresh so that you can just focus on what an incredible piece of music this is, what an amazing composition, rather than spending all your energy focused on appreciating how Tuomas just ripped his ribcage open and gave you a good look at his heart and soul.
Don't worry about pausing, pause as much as you want (You do push it back most of the time, which is good). There are 2 main kinds of reactors. People who enjoy music and we like to watch them experience a piece of music we love for the first time along with them... those kinds of reactors, it's best if they don't pause too much.
People like you, who really know what you're talking about and can offer real, valuable, interesting feedback and analysis about what is going on, you guys should pause as much as you want. On this kind of reaction, yes, we want to see you experience the music with us, and your facial expressions are priceless when your doors are being blown off, but your insight is terrific and best given in the moment, not talking over the music.
Thanks for this one, I really enjoyed it.
