My Get Home Gun Revisited - HK USP 9 Custom Combat

Took 5 guns to the range Sunday. H&K USP Full Size 9mm, H&K VP9, H&K P30, Beretta 92X and CZ Shadow2 Compact. Ever since I got the CZ I have less desire for my H&K's. Now would I take the USP in a War Time Scenario...SURE. It's a trustworthy tank. Am I in a wartime scenario...NO. The USP full size 9mm is my least favorite weapon.

Have loved the USP for many years nobody seems to remember it’s best part it’s reduced recoil by not having lands and groves in the barrel

Usp was my first handgun. i was just hyped after going to the range for the first time so I went gun shopping not knowing anything. Guy at the GS he kept looking at my hands and said I could handle a bigger gun but it should fit like a glove as he says that he hands me a usp and without looking at the price I said ill take it.

I'm considering a USP 45 Compact, but unsure if the LEM kit is the way to go, or what version to get. Any advice is appreciated 👍.

The reason I Purchased the HK USP SD Pistol because the oversized controls and where they are located makes it Pretty Wonderful when Operating ! The Best Features available and as Reliable as my G22 and THAT is Important!

The Beretta M9, the Sig P226 and the HK USP 9mm are the three best full size SA/DA pistols in existence.

My first in the HK USP series is a USP .40 that I was given as a birthday present in 1993, the year it came out. It's a perfect shooter and has been my go to gun since new. It shows. Everything you say here I'm in total agreement with. I still get people walking over at the range to see what I'm shooting. Never had a single problem with it since new. Absolutely nothing since new has been changed out. Nothing. Same recoil spring, nothing new. Since 1993. try that with another firearm on the market today. God knows how may rounds are through it. Just perfect.

I have that feeling, I'm on your frequency. My feelings are for the sig p226 Mk25 for my vehicle, and my M11A1 (p229) for my person. Although I love my HK P2000sk, my feelings for my sigs are like yours for your HK Handguns. Don't change for anyone.

I carry a USP .45 C (LEM). These guns are what I call the Toyota Landcruiser of handguns, a little expensive but overbuilt for total reliability and will last forever.

I bought a P30L some years ago, thinking it would scratch the USP itch... but it just didn't.
I must have a USP at some point.

You should buy the black jet funnel mags with the weighted baseplate; they’re a little more reliable IMO.

Amusingly I have basically the same gun but mine started as the base gun and I ordered the match kit, jet funnel magwell and extended magazines directly from Hk. I even have the same trijicon sights and they’re great.

I don’t think this gun is outclassed at all by more modern offerings. It’s a dream to shoot if you’re used to 1911s due to the grip and safety. Accuracy and reliability are amazing.

I don’t think $600-700 is unreasonable for such a well made gun. The only real concern is it’s a duty size gun so concealing it is probably not going to be easy but it’s surprisingly light.

Recoil impulse is unbelievably soft and it’ll shoot NATO spec 9mm all day long.

As someone who owns an HK and drove G63 (very slowly last week) I can relate to this video. Seriously, the doors on that G63 close with such reassurance, you wont want any other doors on your automobile

I fully understand this emotional connection to the USP. I've lusted after one ever since i shot my dad's USP9 compact maybe 25-30 years ago. After growing to gun owner age i saw them in the shops and was always drawn to them but never "pulled the trigger" so they say. For years the USP would pop into my mind and i would start researching them. Only to never find the one i was looking for in the shops or wanting to drop that kind of coin. That all changed after I got my C2 in December of last year. That gun ignited something in me. All of a sudden i was shooting 1-2 times per week. My skills improved dramatically. I even started shooting competition. Which i had no intention of doing before. And then i realized....life is short, you love shooting, go get that dream gun. So i ordered a USP9 tactical yesterday and i don't remember ever being this excited about a new gun. Its not a new design. The mags are expensive. Its not optic ready. Doesn't hold as many rounds as other guns in its size. But it is scratching an itch that no other gun could. Not even the C2.

HK USP IS A LITERAL TANK!!! As much as i love my Staccatos and everything else, theres something about my USP that will always make it to my top 5 handguns of all time.

Its not just nostalgic. The USPs recoil system is still better than most modern handguns.

If you like the DA/SA trigger for it's safety, maybe give Light LEM or LEM Hybrid a spin in the USP. It's my favorite trigger configuration in all my hammer fired HKs. It's great!

My "at home" gun is actually two guns. A GP100 6 inch barrel an a H&K full size USP 40 that I bought in 1994. Both are fine guns.

Hey Colion! I just picked up a USP Tactical in 9mm. It came with a jet funnel and 3 mags. I got it for a steal of $750 from Cabelas. Now that I own one I completely understand your feelings for the USP this thing is freaking awesome. I remember my first time seeing the USP in the OG Call of Duty Modern Warfare and instantly fell in love with how it looks.

HK USP are the most reliable semi auto handgun, period.

I have an early usp .45...........there is something about the mechanical feel of German engineering..
...but I dare anyone to find a more reliable handgun.

I recently bought a USP Expert 9, and it’s probably the best handgun I’ve ever owned. It’s built like a tank, and the accuracy is almost surreal. Now I just need an Expert 45!
