So from now on my players are all going to roll for attack at the same time, meanwhile I'm going to roll my 12 d20's for my monsters and like 4 underneath the table for my hidden monsters, chaos is fun.
ОтветитьI like action RPG more than turn-based RPG, too.
Ответитьa normal dnd turn takes about 6 sec...
ОтветитьYou just gotta think of it like a shonen anime fight, every round happens in six seconds, but we only focus on what one character is doing during the six seconds
ОтветитьThank you for this video! 😀💐
Ответить..... very funny, but its meant to simulate everything happening at the same, in 6 seconds.. each round.
Ответитьhaste is based
ОтветитьThis is exactly why I often try to tie actions from different turns together both as a DM and player 😂 To really drive home that this is all happening really fast in 6 seconds, some people are just slightly quicker to react than the others
ОтветитьIt is hilarious, but batting is chaos and so in an RPG Setting, time is slowed down . So after an hour or so of play, only like 5 minutes happened in the battle.
ОтветитьMaybe try an Infinty cpmbat based approch. Every player can play in unison. 1 team starts first, and anyone who can act, does so and ARI (Area Reaction Initiative, or something).
Example.
Both team rolls initiative, one with the highest wis roll in each team goes first. Lets say enemy goes first, all that can see the enemy, moving or still, can take a reaction. Attack, dodge, hide, etc. When attacking on an ARI you only make a single attack and cant take another action until the end of that round. So everyone moves together, making 1 roll or 1 move in that round, and when the players play, they have more options lioe theyd normally have and the enemies have 1 action or 1 move. Can make combat more chaotic and messy and dangerous and force players and enemies to play more strategically and more organized to make rounds efficient and flow. So the DM can roleplay certain enemy types and the way they'd fight and the team will fight more strategically and more efficiently overall. Speed of combat will improve and may lead to more fun gameplay, at least for me it has.
About the only way you could turn the combat into a realistic situation is to either have a computer interface or a person who can hear and comprehend multiple actions and dice rolls all at once and efficiently respond to them and correct mistakes. Basically your DM would sound like one of the old micromachines commercials responding to a complete chaos of information being shouted at them.
Ответитьbe careful what you wish for. the rules are not to keep the players in check. they are for the dungeon master, or else he would be too powerful
ОтветитьSo real time battles would look like game of diplomacy (between players) it would be interesting as they could choose to meta game or not based on the table with the dm having a preset structure for the enemy combatants to fight as. And combat would be a lot faster in larger scale battles/ encounters.
ОтветитьUhh a round is 6 seconds no? Faster please.
ОтветитьThe variant initiative Speed Factor probably feels a little more real-time. I've been very curious to try it.
ОтветитьWell, you just broke the world of D and D…. Someone just pissed off the DM..
ОтветитьI mean it's a great skit, but a whole ass round takes 6 seconds... Which is kinda funny when you think combat in D&D really lasts for a few moments seeing it from afar...
ОтветитьLol love it
ОтветитьDo like a war system DM and players roll d20 at the same time highest number deals damage
Ответить🤣🤣🤣🤣.....if you had every combatant rolling dice at the same time and shouting out the results it would be pure chaos!
It just wouldn't work!😵😖😣🤬
I’m an action movie when there is a large battle, the camera will focus on 2 or 3 people engarces in a fight then cut away to the next fight, that helps us see what’s actually happening rather than just zooming out and showing all the characters from far away simultaneously fighting. In the same way D&D combat is occurring all at once but the turn order is the easiest and fairest way to ORGANIZE each participant’s actions.
ОтветитьWell good thing in D&D each turn takes 6 seconds of combat
ОтветитьI love how the barbarian has the highest intelligence
ОтветитьDM: Your party spots an ogre, facing and standing at the edge of a cliff. He hasn't noticed your approach.
Thief: ROLL TO PUSH HIM OFF THE CLIFF!
rolls 1
Thief: ...
DM: you.. caress the ogre's back.. The ogre is uncomfortable.
The true essence of D&D is rolling dice for every action. 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьYou arent waiting. You are either updating the map you are drawing, updating your inventory for the broken swords due to the 1 you just rolled or arrow you fired, writing in the journal and tracking the story of the adventure so you have the notes you need to get back out of the dungeon or answer the riddle. Its not the DMs job to do these things and by the time you are done its your turn and youll wish you had more time. Yes, its all happening at the same time and its an interesting conceptual question to describe how turns relate to reality but there is no waiting, everyone is working or should be. That and the questions and talk happening between turns and rounds probably should be limited as well since in reality you wouldnt have that time to strategize. But to be honest, thats the part I enjoy.
Ответитьergh I hate turned based games, I've missed out on a lot of cool looking games because of it
ОтветитьPerfect example of why multiplayer turn based combat is the dumbest idea ever implemented in video games.
ОтветитьThe logic is that everyone is fighting at the same time, but we take turns so that we do the fighting strategically.
ОтветитьA full round suppose to be in 6 seconds because every turn is happening at the same time.
ОтветитьMore like waiting to get an imagination...... This should not be a problem...... With a bit of imagination it's all real time
ОтветитьThe girl(Phoenix Cross) is pretty nice too :)
ОтветитьCould someone list RPGs where there's turnless combat, please?
ОтветитьGood soldiers follow the order
ОтветитьHow did he do that, they were all fighting, then the barbarian starting moving in an unatural way as if he was unbound with the laws of reality? How did he manage to do that?
ОтветитьWHEN DID AXL JOHNSON START PLAYING DND?!
ОтветитьCommon people how is the dungeon master supposed to keep track of 3-8 people if they go at once? Plus what about xp...how is it spread out if one ogremage wipes out every npc to fast? Rules friends are there for a reason
ОтветитьEveryone is so meta in the comments section 🤔
ОтветитьI love it turn based ✌️
ОтветитьPeople are forgetting a turn takes place in 6 seconds game time :D
ОтветитьHe's definitely not handling it nearly the way he should. He's more concerned about your video than he is with Peter Pedo working for him
ОтветитьOh I know, maybe everyone should just yell at the DM what they are doing at the same time describing it in detail until the for is over
ОтветитьHilarious. it would be fun to see the wizard taking a half hour to justify to his friends why hes chosing a particular spell and then changing his mind 5 times based in what he just remembered about the immunity a particular enemy may have
ОтветитьSo he used action surge at the end .
ОтветитьNeverwinter Nights and the later games as well as Pathfinder games kinda sped it up.
Ответить"Okay, I'll get up in a minute" Was the best line in this video
ОтветитьSo cool to see Emmett Skilton working with the League. Loved the Almighty Johnsons enough to watch the series 3 times so far... and now I get to watch all of these a hundred times each. Keep it coming guys!
ОтветитьPeople who complain about turn based combat never fought in real life.
ОтветитьFelipe the ork guy did in the end was cool
ОтветитьI haven’t really noticed if it’s in rotation, but I appreciate on the Legend of Vox Machina how they tend to show the characters individually during combat and pivot between what each is doing, as it gives the same vibe without seeming so drawn out it’s painful.
