Satsuki Azaleas

How is it that you would regrow an apex on an azalea ? Would you cut the top of the trunk by the old apex and wire a branch near the top to become the new apex ? Or will the trunk sprout a new branch near the top ? What is your preferred approach ??? By the way, very beautiful trees.

Satsuki Azaleas are so charming. I need to do some research on the local climate, but I hope to get an outdoors tree like this for my balcony when I move.

I really enjoy your videos, I'm from Canada and was wondering how to get seeds from a satsuki azaleas. I can't find them where I am. I have 27 different bonsai.

Beautiful video Peter, thank you for sharing this. I really love azaleas, but I'm having some issues with water. What kind of water do you use for your azaleas? Some told me not to use tap water, that is better to use treated water (reverse osmosis) like in hydroponics

i remember the story of mr. fujikawa's nursery in osaka that started about 1960. back then normal azaleas were about 10-50 yen and satsuki azaleas were like 3000-7000 yen (which is a huge amount of money back in the day). so he bought the best one for 7000 yen and sold it for 24000 yen. and that's how one of the best bonsai nurseries in japan started :)

All of them are so unique and have such beautiful colors. Those flowers are so beautiful, you should get a little bee hive for yourself. Honey is so good. We have a giant 40 year old Plum tree on our farm and next spring we are going to put a beehive out there.

Im waiting on a satzuki azalea to come in the mail today. Its just a cheap little 30 dollar one in a bonsai pot from Amazon. I think I might get another one.

Peter, I’m curious, how do you get satsukis to grow upwardly instead of the typical inverse triangle shaped shrub that one buys usually as a commercial satsuki from a nursery? Is this all just selective pruning? Thanks!
