All i have to say is, no one can be like Princess Diana. Diana is very kindness person and have a good heart , she was more delicate in a real life while Kristen playing role in this movie looks like an unfriendly women, especially when i saw her face gesture, Kristen should go deeper to learn inch by inch about Diana life's biography..

I love listening to the two of you! I feel you always do the topic justice, whether you agree with the point or not. You’ve definitely given a fair review of the movie. Definitely not for everyone.

They stated Cleary that is is not a biopic more so of taping in to the reality of her emotions. It was actually interesting that Anne Boleyn kept appearing then I looked it up and they not only had similar life but they are related 0_0. it was clever actually made scene in a psyc. kind of way

100% agree with you. The scrip is a mess, and people will leave the theatre with a particular perspective of Diana and the whole royal family that might not be “accurate to reality”.

Also, shows that the writing team didn’t know “that much” of English history, context and idiosyncrasy.

Diana had a relative, Georgiana Spencer Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire. Both of them married very young and were thrown to situations they weren’t prepared for, both had eating disorders, both grew in Althorp, both fashion icons. I do not understand why Anne Boleyn? It doesn’t make any sense!

3/10. Agree. Although, it is an aesthetically pleasing film to watch.

haha, yes I am from Northern Europe and I thought that..."wow is that really soo warm in UK during december?" :D how silly ofcourse it isnt :D
I would say also that I am an history student and I love Britirh royal history and I actually think that compareson to Anne Boleyn is actually quite fair, many history tudors have compared Diana to Anne but in my opinion they focused wayyy tooo much on that and that scene where she "saves" her was very strange ,I thought that compareson o Anne is going to be just a little moment in the movie but they really focused on it soo much :D and I actually didnt see Prince Charles as a villain in this movie at all, and I likedd that because we have seen it already soo many times , it really was a movie that focused very much on what is happening in Dianas head but the movie overall was in my opinion beautifully shot just little boring and yeah...very artsy like you said.
but very interesting to hear the opinion of British people finally :)

i watched it today and honestly felt like i wasted 2 hours of my life; i almost fell asleep twice. And slowburn psychological horror films are my fave, so this film should be right up my alley.
I respect the hard work and artistry, but this film was a huge miss. The music was annoying, the script was kinda outta place and cringe, and while i adore her acting, Kristen's portrayal just felt so ... aggressive? I dunno it just didn't feel natural. I didn't feel empathy for her watching this film, but annoyance. My mom is a huge Princess Diana fan since she was a kid and she really dislikes this film😂😂

Spencer was underwhelming. Even the music was completely terrible. Kristen Stewart had to whisper Diana’s words all throughout because she could not “get her.” If you like movies without a plot, without look-alike characters portraying Charles and the boys, without anything of value: you may like this movie. It is about insanity; more specifically “Diana’s insanity.” It is a very bad portrayal of her, and of the royals. Nothing respectful about this movie’s portrayal of any of the royals. One of the kids got to play Harry only because his father portrayed Charles. The kid looked nothing like Harry. Like I said, it was insane. An awful movie and not worth seeing.

It was a completely crazy movie that portrayed Diana in a completely insane light. No logic in it at all —Even the scarecrow that Diana broke, ends up getting mysteriously “fixed” at the end of the movie.

I enjoyed your talk. One thing I saw right away was when she stopped for directions: as she walked to the building we could clearly see she had a Channel purse, WITH the CC logo. Paul Burrell has said she had him remove all those C logos from all her Channel because it made her think of “ Charles and Camilla.” My knowledge is limited, but that one thing made me, separate myself from the film and think, this is not real. ( I have seen the director interviewed so I knew it was more of a “fable” ) too dark for me.

I hated this piece of pretentious crap sticking a stigma to everyone involved. The Royal families are proof that not everyone is born equal but that does not make everyone a villain and I think The ballet scene was just to get that stupid art pass in the critics reviews. Americans can’t tell any differences that you two describe so this movie echoes the makers ego more than anything, over the back of lady Di.

I was extremely disappointed. Her personality bled into the character and couldn’t adapt to Diana’s character. She portrayed the interview version of her. The accent sounded fake to me and that’s just an opinion. But it was just so boring. It was making her seem fake and mousey. I don’t think she would have been that way all the time. This was just a horrible depiction of her.

Happy to see so many felt the same way I did about this picture. I thought it was awful, a way out there portrayal of Diana as somebody that was completely insane. Kristen Stewart's it way way over done with the accent and gestures. I liked the Crown's Diana much better. They showed her faults, the compulsive behaviors of someone that had emotional issues and it was very real and believable. Spencer is too far out there.

If you want to see a good movie about the psychological descent of a royal, watch The Madness of King George. Spencer is a mess. There is not enough contrast between her breaks with reality and actual reality. Reality, as you said, should have been more lively and cheerful. The psychological breaks should have been progressively darker.

The film was utterly awful, and totally out of touch, a typical American indulgence totally over the top. Unfair, disrespect and offensive portrayal of Diana. She was presented as some silly self indulgent airhead neurotic true Hollywood style. Diana was never an airhead nor rude. Ms Stewarts accent was appaling as was her OTT airhead acting, , couldn't they find a decent English actress. Only the Americans will like such trash a d no doubt give an Oscar. The OTT music just as bad. Fit for the bin in the UK!!!

Set at a specific time when the whole charade was at breaking point for Diana, but she was still (just about) able go through the motions. We know she was in turmoil and affected by depression and self harm at this time.

She didn’t seem like a victim (any more than she actually was) as she rebelled “acted out” and figuratively escapes at the end.

The accent and mannerisms were excellent. Minor criticism is it strayed into “impression” territory.

Disagree it didn’t include the rest of the family. It included her boys a lot and we saw that relationship very well - which had been missing from previous depictions.

The costume changes and having to be dressed in specific outfits on specific days and times was a key theme in the movie and metaphor for the suffocating control she felt she was a prisoner to.

We know Camilla and Diana were at the same social gatherings at least once - if not church - because Diana famously confronted her.

Random thought: if it’s true, I wonder how Camilla felt about being given the exact same gift as Diana?

On the Diana statue.
1. If general consensus is thst the statue is less than it ought to be and also makes less of whom she is and as loved as she is. Get with the artist and make it right. Prince Henry Charles Andrew David. HRH Harry was unhappy.
Point 2. If HRM the Queen believes she will brush away Diana by lessening the art depicting her while lifting up inxthe order of the Garter one whom was the Mistress, the shrew, im sorry HM is perhaps ought to reconsider. WE WILL NOT forget. I live during when Diana, HRH the Princess of Wales will not be diminished or forgot. When Aunt Byeata dies what then, the world will be pfrenetic with outrage. English monarchy matters to equilibrium in the world. My entreaty to HRM Elizabeth is to consider this opinion. I do not like Camilla at all.

It seems like almost every review about this film is absolutely positive which is weird to me so your opinions were refreshing in a way ❤ I wanted to ask, since it seemed bizarre to me, the part of them being weighted before and after the three days, I’d that really a tradition? Or was it also made up?
