@snareman95 XD
ОтветитьGreat video. Good practical information, clearly explained. Thanks!
Ответить@edgeobserver Thanks!
ОтветитьGreat video Snareman! That was so very informative. I carry a little suture kit in my car emergency kit, but I see I should add a few things. I would enjoy more of these that perhaps covered other scenarios. For instance how do you handle extremely deep leg wounds and how often do you stitch? Love your work and thanks again. Peace
Ответить@Smokin07ram I might argue that most people aren't going to suture in the field and that a skin stapler (shown in an upcoming vid) would be a better choice if you're a long way from help. Best idea is to get to an ER but if out on your own and have a deel gaping wound you could go ahead and try it. By how often do you mean how far apart do you put the stitches? Or how often do I perform suturing? The former depends on the body part. The latter is numerous times/week. :-)
Ответить@Smokin07ram As for how far apart, on the face you're going to put them a lot closer than on a thigh. There is no exact right answer, but on a face you might put them 0.5cm apart where as on a thigh they might be 2cm apart or maybe a little less.
Ответить@snareman95 I was referring to spacing. Every year I drive 23 hours to the northern corners of British Columbia where I climb into a float plane and fly into remote wilderness hunting camps. Nobody coming to help for at least 12 hours IF the weather corporates. We (my hunting partners and I) once spent 11 days waiting for a flight. Staples! Sounds like a great idea! Sounds like fine sutures are best for the face/cosmetics? Thanks so much! Peace!
Ответить@Smokin07ram Wow, yea. Sounds like you are kinda on your own out there. Staples definitely require the least knowledge. I'm working on a field wound video where I'll demonstrate it. And yep, on the face small closer spaced sutures for better cosmesis. On a thigh you can go big and bold. :-)
Ответить@jackchn23 Check out my IFAK video, although I've added a few things and am hoping to update it. The stuff in there should cover a good portion of stuff though.
Ответить@snareman95 Fantastic! One more thing to look forward to on your channel. Thanks much!
ОтветитьWell I certainly wasn't expecting a pigs foot in your video list, but it turned out to be a very interesting video! Clear and easy steps with great tips on technique and superb video quality as always.
Ответить@KnifeNerd9 Glad you enjoyed it. THanks!
Ответить@desbloqueoblackberry Glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching!
ОтветитьI no nothing about medicine, but found that video fascinating. Great job, keep it up!
ОтветитьThank you so much!
ОтветитьYou're welcome! Thanks for watching!
ОтветитьAs an army medic, your suture series is TREMENDOUSLY helpful! I was only taught to do sutures once and the way we learned it made it much more complicated than necessary. Bending the needle is great and the way you throw the knots is so simple! I am going to share these videos with my fellow medics in my unit and hopefully we can have another class on sutures this summer. please share more medical videos with us :)
ОтветитьGlad to be helpful and thanks for your service! I remember the first time I tried it on a patient after I learned it - I couldn't remember a thing! :-) Once you figure it out though its pretty simple. Hopefully the vids will be helpful to you and your fellow medics!
ОтветитьYes completely. Thankfully it was on the top of the scalp of a burly construction guy so he 1) didn't care that I wasn't the best and 2) couldn't see what I was doing. :-) Wait til you try hand ties for the first time! That didn't go well either.
ОтветитьI had four sutures put in the back of my head two months ago. This video was very interesting since I had no idea how the man was doing it, however, my sutures kinda... fell out. is that normal? The wound is closed, but all my stitches fell out, one after another. I'm just wondering if I'm worrying over nothing. Thank you.
ОтветитьThey may have used absorbable sutures. I often put those in a scalp to make it easier so you don't have to go digging for then to get them out.
ОтветитьKeep the needle holder over the laceration and always wrap towards the holder. Perfect every time. Pay attention, he is experienced and knows how to avoid granny knots. Pull both sides of knots equally away at 180 degrees. He makes this part look easy. Take your time or you will never pass suture technique.
ОтветитьYou're welcome! Thanks for watching!
ОтветитьI was looking for a video on how to stitch a wound and after seeing many I decided your video was well made and very informative, Obviously you are dedicated to share this information so that is worth subscribing to
ОтветитьI appreciate it. Thanks!
ОтветитьThank you for all your effort. Now it's clear how to hold needle driver
ОтветитьYou're welcome. Thanks!
ОтветитьGlad you found them useful. Thanks! Yea, I learned that needle bending thing the hard way a bunch of times when I was a student. :-)
ОтветитьI am trying to put an emergency first aid kit together....Where can i purchase lidocaine?
ОтветитьNo where that I'm aware of since it requires a prescription. You can use things like ice in a pinch.
ОтветитьBut thats the thing, i want to have lidocaine so that way i can use it when i am in the field, and don't have access to ice
ОтветитьUnless you can get it from something like a Canadian pharmacy where maybe you could get it without a prescription, I don't think you can get it. You will then also need syringes if you don't have those.
ОтветитьThank you very much! Do you know where i could purchase syringes...Dumb question
ОтветитьOH! But not necessarily with a needle.
ОтветитьI don't. I've never had to buy them. And needles even less.
ОтветитьIm curious you don't aspirate or mention it when injecting anesthesia. Is this because it not important in suturing or have we grow away from this practice.
ОтветитьThank you.
ОтветитьGreat video! You're a physician's assistant, right? Would you recommend this over a Nurse Practitioner course?
ОтветитьI love your videos! I'm self training myself so in a few years ill be ready for my EMT test. could you make a video series focusing on each form of injury?
ОтветитьI am putting a Nice First Aid kit together and leaning these techniques.
How do I get some anesthetics? Is that not something I can buy for the kit?
By the way your video is very informative thank you.
I'm not a surgeon , but I'm studying medical Imaging. After getting a surgery done to me I got very interested in surgeries and sutures ! I feel like picking up those equipment and trying it on an animal .
ОтветитьGreat Vid...Great Technique Tips! Thank you a bunch!
I am a new ER resident, so one more question if you may please, I would like to know how do you specifically inject the anesthetic, like shots in a place, or subcutaneous in the wound flaps or how so, it just wasn't that clarified to me in the vid...
Thanks again for your effort and time!
It's so sad my minds messed up. I legitimately thought you were working on a baby Psyclops's foot...
Ответитьi thought you use banana to practice
4.00 i will take the needle are you numb can u feel this
Any alternative beside of using pigs foots? Its hard to get pigs around my area
Ответитьsurgical suture
ОтветитьThis is really good I use it to teach my students!
ОтветитьEso es el pio de un cerdo no?
