Thx.
ОтветитьIf that gold thread is tarnishing then it's not pure gold because pure 24k gold does not tarnish, does not oxidize.
ОтветитьGreat video, nice to see some bardcore rave footage.
ОтветитьMedieval Bernadette perched on the back of the couch like a ChaosGoblin. This vid was awesome.
I really hope we get to see the dress she is wearing being made!
Bardcore rave needs to become A Thing!!
Cool =)
ОтветитьThat medieval gown is crazy good.
ОтветитьBut did you make or buy that midieval dress? The decorative tape is much nicer than i have seen
Ответитьgods take me
now the cloak my dnd character is commissioning for his court appearance /has/ to have goldwork, not just gold edging (unless the DM is going to take literally all my money for it)
he's already just getting his family crest on his other cloak in silver thread rather than the mithril his family usually springs for (he has no access to family coffers atm, theyre on the other side of the country and also buried under the rubble of another city falling atop it)
wonderful work, now im lamenting both my real and fantasy wallets
I was just missing your videos this morning, wondering when you would post next. Yay, and it's embroidery! Thank you!
ОтветитьConsidering the rapid fluctuations of precious metals keeping stock must be a nightmare.
ОтветитьIn Morocco, and the rest of the Islamic world I assume, Muslims were prohibited by usury laws to work with precious metals so all the gold and silver embroidery was done by Jewish tailors.
Ответитьnot getting notified for this is a crime. this video was beautiful 🤩
ОтветитьMy grandmother used these techniques to handmake military badges for officers during WW2.
ОтветитьIt's interesting to realize taht there was no cheaper, lower-end alternative to this: while you may be able to make thread out of gold (or even silver?), you can't do it with copper, bronze, or anything like that. Instead, those materials give you tough, flexible WIRE that you'd use for heavy-duty repairs.
ОтветитьGot a job and miss Banner will be the reason imma spend all my money on sewing stuff
ОтветитьI would love to go to a bardcore rave! Where do I find one of those?!
ОтветитьMushrooms ?????
ОтветитьMy mother's great grandmother's family used to be landlords in the 19th century in India. They had tons of gold embroidered clothes. The one I remember, which my mother inherited was a burgundy velvet blouse which had peacocks embroidered on it. Just the neck up of the bird on the arms and a whole dancing peacock on the back. Sadly, silverfish got to it and it got completely destroyed.
ОтветитьI saw gold work and my Indian mind went "Lehenga !!! " 😅😊
ОтветитьI was procrastinating decorating the Christmas tree by watching this video. Lo and behold, I begin to put up the ornaments, I find a goldwork embroidered camel ornament. I have no idea where it came from, since we’re plastic ornament people, but it’s absolutely incredible to see these techniques in person. Knowing that every single detail was carefully cut and stitched into place has made these random ornaments much more special.
ОтветитьBernadette, are you a relative of Olivia de Haviland? You look just like maid marion!
ОтветитьHow easy to follow are the kits?
ОтветитьI love that she wasn't kidding about the rave 😂😂😂
Ответить😅 the entire time I was going "Bernadette! Put it in a hoop!" I can't imagine not using a hoop for this.
ОтветитьI could definitely see people using these kits to make berets.
P.S. This is a first I saw the A/B test for a thumbnail.
god damn it...I had avoided getting one of these kits just because I wasn't sure what to do with it when I was done...but pillows are so easy to make...and that one looks simple, stylish, and lovely...I must resist, I'm already spending a lot of money on travel and I don't need any more personal projects to take up my limited free time.
ОтветитьBardcore rave is my new bucket list addition
ОтветитьThis was the most fascinating, interesting video I've watched in a while. (Well, all of your vids seem to fall into that category).
ОтветитьI've been an embroiderer for a few years now and my god. I had not learned a whole lot about goldwork until this popped up on my feed but now i want to do it so bad it hurts 😭 plus, i just finished my first semester in school and I am studying to be a costume designer, and that makes its so much more crazy that i havent looked into this before! My mind is racing about how much i love this, maybe one day i can incorporate a little into my thesis project 😆 i havent looked at how much the kit is yet cuz im so broke, but ill definitely have to save up for it. I love kits for learning new techniques, its so helpful
Edit: okay if these kits sell out before I can afford one, I will be devastated
Titaniumwork, steelwork, bronzework.... the basic ideas of goldwork applied to other metals is so intriguing!
Ответить"Caesar" reference at the start? Joy, so much joy
ОтветитьOmg yeah a machine could never do this. Or at least not anytime soon
ОтветитьI'd only seen a variation of gold work in tambour embroidery before. Doing it as actual needlework seems so much harder... I gotta remember this though because I've always been so bothered by cosplays that had cheap looking bad gold fabrics in them and this might be the way to solve that!
ОтветитьSo excited to get my kit!
ОтветитьI went to school and lived in Bingen (the the Bingen from which Hildegard of Bingen came from) and the nuns, of which a part taught at my semi-poublic school, do gold work for religious garments. I wanted to take a class with them for the longest time (but am not even sure they do it any longer OR they teach lay/pagan/secular people… Must do some research now. This is juts so beautiful!
ОтветитьI thought you were joking about the bardcore rave! 😂
ОтветитьI really want a goldwork kit now lol.
ОтветитьI absolutely hate this new ai audio track.
ОтветитьIt's interesting to see the difference between 'Gold Work' and just embroidering with gold, cause you know long before the technique reached certain areas some rich powerful person looked at some poor craftspersons and said gold is pretty and impressive embroider some to my sash.
ОтветитьNow I can't help but wonder if you could make a working circuit by sowing surface-mount components onto cloth with gold or copper thread
ОтветитьReally tempted but i have a medieval saint, a bayeux panel and a star trek lower decks embroidery on the go, plans for the rose window of notre dame in Strasbourg...🫠
ОтветитьSewing with gold, huh. Like Boc in Elden Ring.
ОтветитьReminded me of princess Leila ❤
ОтветитьHello Ms. Banner!! Love this video!! Out of curiosity, when doing goldwork, does one use an embroidery hoop to keep the fabric somewhat taut or is it best to let it drape in your hands? Thanks! And yes, another craft to obsess over (currently obsessing with quilting...)
ОтветитьMy kitten is also named Lyra, and she's also a creature of mass destruction. Maybe it's the name 🤔
ОтветитьNo no no... I need to save something for my next life 😢
