That must be so difficult to get an apt without a credit score. Never even thought about what that must be like for non-Americans! It ended up working out for your though!
May I ask through what website were you finding these apartments?

Congrats girl. It's so hard to get an apt without credit history and need to pay a good chunk to find a guarantor. Tip for the old apt in NYC, carpet will help with noise and floor creaking. I would actually wear slipper in the house instead of shoes, dirty NY ground.

Credit scores are so fucked up because they were literally invented so recently that the people demanding a good credit score didn't even need them when they bought the building.

Wouldn't recommend setting up shop on the fire escape. It's not a balcony and is actually for escaping fires for everyone in your building. Your landlord could get in trouble.

A backpack with wheels would be your grocery shopping bestie lol. Wheel it home and wear it up the stairs.

it wasn't a bad deal considering the broker fee's was only a month. but i suggest being communicative or friendly with a no fee landlord's office or broker. If you can tell, that the broker is decent or not and start searching a month early and create some flexibility for move-in time. I work in the industry, but if people check in with us and we get something a few hundred under market since it's stabilized we'll offer it to them first. From what i understand the major landlords around us are the same.
