DON'T FULLY WORK FOR VOCALS!
Get your voice rest sometimes
Oh one other comment - To those who feel Estepario is cheating because he hits a drum differently to get an effect. I would encourage those people to try hitting a drum differently too, maybe a rim shot or hold one stick against the head while hitting the drum with the other stick, or better yet do what Bellson did in the 60's and 70's which is hold 2 sticks in each hand and play flams with each hand (which sounds cool and flippin fast!) or his jingle sticks (using a wood screw, screw a tambourine jingle to each of your sticks).
Unless you have someone playing behind a curtain there is no cheating - just evolving!
The biggest challenge for younger drummers or myself when I was young, is to know "what is the cost" to "get that result". Everyone could chime in here. For me the cost is/was useful practicing, I did 10 or more hours a day which could include solo wood shedding, playing with other musicians including drummers, hitting all the open jam sessions, play all genres of music, writing music etc.... But staying FOCUSED is probably the biggest thing. Don't let anything or anyone distract you, relationships, negative comments, partying, lack of money and so on. If it takes your attention away from your drums (or goals) then let that fall by the wayside.
ОтветитьI'll say he's phenomenal fast drummer, there's only hand full of drummers in the world that can play single strokes as fast as el,does, practice is the key here, I'm currently working on technical marching rudiments into my drum set playing it's reinventing my style, opened my mind again,38years of playing with ups and downs I can play almost anything if put mind to it,disapline, goal setting and endlessly practicing, and keep an open mind for anything do give in.....
ОтветитьAre you really keen to compete with a drum machine? In that case I'd prefer the original, i.e. the non-human device, and leave the rest as a curiosity to the circuses.
ОтветитьI agree totally with you.. he's a great drummer.. and a musician in his own right. Your explanations are limpid.. Cheating??a ridiculous notion.. Bravo
ОтветитьHow are you not gonna link his channel in the description smh
ОтветитьAnother great piece of advice came from Steve Via who is to me the greatest electric guitar player on the planet. He said, forget your weaknesses and focus on your strengths. That’s what being a next level musician is all about with tons of practice and discipline.
ОтветитьThis is applicable in all aspects of life... if you want the best out of your craft.
Ответитьif any of this is cheating then I guess we can all just do it any time right?
ОтветитьThank you brother Ive been waiting for someone to make this video . Nothing but love and respect for everyone in the vid .
ОтветитьSo insane how good your content is as well Gabe!
ОтветитьSpeaking as a drummer, he is cheating a bit with the dual kick pedal, but I also respect how much patience and practice is involved for sure.
ОтветитьTalent is real.
ОтветитьTalent is real.
ОтветитьWow. That was both a psychology and drums lesson. Well done! Both what Siberiano says and how you told his story can really be applied to all sorts of things in life. Thank you!
ОтветитьOnly a genius can bring anything new to the table...
ОтветитьYeah its called ingenuity and practice practice practice. Dudes a beast
ОтветитьI play pretty good on guitar and taught myself with no sheet reading too. It can be and not cheating just enjoying it.
ОтветитьUm practice.
ОтветитьHe’s not cheating, it still takes years if you ever get to his level. This is about another drummer that’s upset they don’t have as much subs. It’s not just his personality, he’s a funny dude and has a unique channel
ОтветитьDo you know what I see? I see someone generating clicks by explaining which technique Estepario uses.
You can do that. But:
- That doesn't disenchant El Estepario. El Estepario is not a talent, but someone who has developed his skills through consistent and disciplined work. That's hard work - and it deserves all due respect.
- Ultimately, your attempts are nothing more than a witness to envy and resentment towards someone who has reached a top level
Ergo, I can do blablabla behind a drum kit too. Show us what you can do!
I might be stoned for this, but overplaying every single song is not a show of talent
ОтветитьAs a singer-songwriter who works 10 hours a day and during the night performes at the streets to feed a family, i must say that in order to have that level of dedication you must not have other obligations in your life other than trying to overcome yourself on a daily basis.
ОтветитьHooking therapy sell driver on a near perfect drummer hype. Can you make it funnier? 😂
ОтветитьThis is a BRILLIANT video dude - what most aspiring drummers, and ppl wanting to get good at ANYTHING need to hear!... Mindset is everything and it takes strength, grit, determination & PMA to become this good! 👊 Huge respect for Estepario and you Gabe! 🤘🔥 Steve
ОтветитьAs a guitarist who struggle a lot crossing the line between going from intermediate to advance guitarist, it is crazy how much i learned from his mindset.
ОтветитьIt's pretty cool to know these techniques but the style of the music garbage ruckus
ОтветитьSome people are just unco and can never get great at drumming doesn't matter how much they play.
ОтветитьHe is absolutely right!
Since I saw him and other drummers like him couple years ago I can play songs over 250 bpm (single strokes hands) and have fun.
As soon as you feel a drumstick like your own limb you are golden.
Not true, even basic cursory study on biology and genetics would prove this title wrong. Either way the guy is amazing and his work is incredible.
ОтветитьThat call talent
ОтветитьEstapario slept with my wife in between bass notes while covering a Lamb of God song. Dude's really fast.
ОтветитьHold on a sec here, some people are saying he is cheating? Cheating is using advantages that are not available to the majority of people engaging in the activity, and or are hidden from observers.
The man isn't hiding anything, the techniques he uses aren't top secret, hidden, sketchy stuff. Anyone who watches him can see how he does it, and therefore can at least try to learn it for themselves. That's not cheating, that's excelling at your craft.
No, not!Talent is the base. Pease!
ОтветитьI think Estepairo is talented yes, but I think his machine gun speed drumming sounds too mechanical, as if a machine is doing it. It's not a bad thing. His videos are entertaining, and he shows his speed and coordination to the max. He is definitely on a higher level, but I just don't get the human feel that drummers should have. Take drummer Ringo Starr... his timing, his beats and his fills were perfectly melded with the music of the rest of The Beatles and gave them their unique sound. Same thing with Bill Bruford and how he fit perfectly to the technical structures of Yes and King Crimson. These guys listened and got into the groove of the songs and played to it and played within it.
Estepairo is unique and a showman, and my hat is off to this wonderful drummer. I just think it would be interesting to hear him play with a band- to hear him blend in and flow with the music as a cohesive and integral part of the band.
Talent is not a lie, I work as a drum teacher and I see it in my everyday life.
ОтветитьHe is the reason I started drumming. The people who think he is cheating are just upset they stayed inside the lines. Change is good but you must be willing to adapt. Great video!
ОтветитьIt’s nice sentiment but not true.
ОтветитьTalent is a lie but arrogance and a shitty ego attitude are real.
ОтветитьRubbish! Scales and patterns can be learned and perfected but musicality - real musicality is God given. It can’t be bought, learned or traded. And like all Talent - you either got it or you don’t.
ОтветитьThe people said that he's cheating or he's a hack, should all go to hell. El Estepario has made drumming fun again. He is reinventing the way drumming is being done these days. Much like Buddy Rich did in his day or John Bonham did for led Zeppelin or Neil Peart did for Rush. People have nothing better to do than waste your time and hate somebody for something that is really good at. He is an outstanding drummer. A lot better than those people sitting behind their phone making critical comments about him.
ОтветитьTalent is a gift, not everyone has it. Doesn't mean averyone can be the best he can be, but real geniuos are rare.
ОтветитьWell some people have more time on their hands but do i give a shit get a job.
Ответитьtalent is the work from ýour last life..
ОтветитьFor someone that's played drums for 60 years I would like to say is stop worrying about being the fastest drummer or the guy that can play odd time signatures all the time. Be the guy that plays with feeling. If you learn to be like a lot of this newer drummers that play super fast double bass, then your only doing it for yourself and no one will care but you. But if you play with feeling than everyone will like you.thats why Ringo, Bonham, Peart aronoff are so popular
ОтветитьTechnically he is insane. Couldn’t do a third of the things he does nor can many pro drummers. But guaranteed more pro drummers will be picked over him when it comes to producing actual music. He needs to show he can also play what’s right for a song. Maybe he can. But most of the covers he does the drums sound wayyyy over the top. I still give him props.
