I like how obvious it is that a lot of the comments "debunking" this video are just Americans talking about their "head canon" versions of France (I mean really, talking about how great France is? if there is one thing French people love as much as shitting on other countries it's shitting on France). Because rent and cost of living are rising even in France (and across the rest of Europe as well frankly) and wages + Welfare benefits are not necessarily getting better compensate for it.

The inequality in the US is extreme, so 80% of the French still make more than 80% of the Americans. Let that sink in.

I had a friend in Paris who was melting in his apartment because central AC is not common. 😂 That summer was HOT, triple digits and it was non problem for him apparently. He said, “ We are French, it’s nothing.” 😅

Haha I worked OT voluntarily and went into office voluntarily during summer for the A/C. I’m in the US, but not every house has AC in the North because it *didn’t use to get this hot*…. A few days of sitting at a computer sweating bullets in an 85F degree home office got to me.

For higher paying positions they do pay less, however the minimum wage is $11.85, in the US its $10. They really do treat their workers better.

Healthcare isn't free. You need to take a mutual for most things and social security is part of what is deducted from your brut wage. Of course it's better than the American system because anything is better than this. I know it's not that serious a video but I'm tired of seeing people on the internet teaching non french people that everything is free here when everything is actually paid by the workers, who are paid garbage compared to the price of life in general. And extra paid hours after 35h is garbage too. You'll quickly realise how ridiculous it's paid compared to the extra time you are spending at work instead of your home. 35h is the norm, a lot of people have different contracts around 40h without extra paid hours.

Member for that " half pay" health care is free, schooling and higher education as well. Many businesses/ employers pay for your lunch ( yes, at least one hour long by law) and your public transportation to get to work. And may I add in passing that the French population was in the streets over a ruse in gasoline prices. Imagine how they would react if 1/3 of the population lost their homes/ houses. Fact is, Americans put up with way too much.

People in Europe are fine with working less, the problem is that in the states the cost of living is so nuts you really need a minimum amount of money to be OK and that number keeps increasing more than wages. You don't even need a car in a lot of places in Europe.
