Sam is such talented vocalist. His singing voice definitely doesn’t match his speaking voice. People are usually blown away the first time they see him in a interview. He’s just a really down to earth cool dude.

I appreciate Future Islands, I really like the band and what they're putting out there, but I'm a huge hip-hop fan and music collector, and Sam basically has the same hip-hop music taste as I do. I have all those albums he picked in this episode, except the Danny Brown stuff cuz I have those digitally, haven't gotten around to getting physical copies of those yet...But, man, luv his enthusiasm for music... Also, I was buying music the same way as a kid as he did, except I didn't eat lunch at all, I used that lunch-money to buy music and just went hungry til I got home and ate whatever was in the fridge lol

I can listen to him talk all day I swear, genuinely love the man's spirit. It brings great joy to my heart to see him pursue what he loves and do it so fucking well. What a gem.

I went to high school in CArmel from '96-'00 and bought all these albums when they dropped. I already like this dude but this just blows my mind. Im a little older than Samuel but I literally got all these its crazy. my faves. I use to chill with J Smoov at the Good Life Cafe in LA but loved Divine Styler and some of that east coast shit. Especially some of those old Bomb Records mixes and Eddile Ill and DL mixtapes with asheru and Percee P. Love this so much

I like Future Islands, but, don't care for that hip hop music! Never have, Never will! If Future Islands goes to that style, it's Good Night for them! Right now, they have a unique sound, music and spiritual lyrics, but, if they go to hip hop........IT'S OVER FROM ME, which am a LONG TIME BLUES, ROCK, METAL Person...such as Led Zep, Johnny Winter, Stevie, Sabbath, etcccccc.....So, I'm really changing my "listening habits" to enjoy Future Islands!
