Great video. Thanks for uploading!
ОтветитьI always found the aspect of comparing yourself to others in a competition very hard for the heart and mind, but with time I found that losing some of them helped me forge character and respect the other competitors no matter my opinions of their dance. Don't take this wrong, I always had the urge to compete and found pleasure participating wether I placed well or not! The thing is, I think it took a while for me to realise the importance of the variety of styes and opinions in the scene for it to be as rich as it can be... as well as the value of NOT winning the comp. As Marie said, it's also a great way to push myself to get better and to showcase something I'm proud surrounded by others with the same goal in mind. It makes for a great energy in a ballroom and I think ILHC is doing a better and better job of utilising the competitive side of Lindy Hop to create this environement!
Thanks for sharing this panel! Great subject and great panelists :D
I am quite surprised by this, thats the opposite of what i think the spirit of Lindy Hop as a social dance everybody can learn and enjoy is. Starting as a child, working hard and perfecting skills over decades sounds like the approach of classical trained ballet dancers or academic musicians. For me personally judgement and competition completely ruins the fun. I want to play. Thats Jazz in my book. But what do i know.
Ответитьwhere did Remi go when Latasha was talking?
