Video-Dialogue with Maya Quattropani

Maya Quattropani talks about her latest project, before the lockdown, for an exhibition in Marseille that would have been part of Manifesta in June. She was collecting and cataloging numbers around the city, but cause of Corona virus she decided to come back to Italy. Now photos are in the rolls and she can't work on them because the supply of chemicals is disrupted. Everything now is stopped and Maya reckons and looks back to her past works, especially on two projects from 2006, "Body Reaction" and "Body Fluid Project": they are particularly current because they are focused on contagion. Maya studied the physical reactions to various forms of contagion and diffusion, the final result is an archive of reactions: cough, breath, sneezing, yawning, bodily fluids, sound contagion, auditory contagion, tactile contagion.
Maya also speaks about another work from 2015 focused on breathing, which was attended by 14 international artists. In the same year she had some workshops called "Il Gioco del Tocco", during the game some children that touching and making sounds create a kind of human orchestra . Her hope is to be able to play again and to touch each other again soon, without fear.
