The storytelling behind the design is incredible. This is what archi films are all about. Well done Est!

I like how the modern house is finished with old-fashioned stone - conceptually it shouldn't work but it does

Sorry but would have been far nicer to build in keeping with the original cottage. I guess being surrounded by trees is a blessing in this case

I have to wonder how planning permission was granted for the new house to be built around the existing house to such a HUGE degree!!
I suspect if I had bought this house, I would struggle to get permission to build a tiny garage onto the side of it!
Yet you have been allowed to increase its footprint by about 10X ????
Seriously? Am I just overly critical? Or do I just not understand how MONEY really works??

A natural take on a home is the excitements in what architects and engineers do with the things we call home.

it's interesting when you think that that cottage from 1730 was not built by someone who had studied architecture

beautiful architecture, but it's too much. too much focus on aestestics. it does not feel like a human should live there. it's more of an art gallery.

This makes me emotional on many levels. The beauty of the build. The videography. The subtle backing tones. It's just beautiful.

This looks like a house of horrors. Those big empty concrete hallways look like a scene of a horror movie where you can't find the door of the house and the crazy owner wants to hunt you down.

I would love to be gush-y like all the other commentators, but I'm afraid I absolutely hate what has been done here. You could not find a more perfect location and perfect little Cotswold cottage on which to base a beautiful and sensitive renovation, and what do you do? Subsume the charm of the original building in a way that manages to be both bland and ostentatious at the same time. Horrible.

Just why? Why not leave the little cottage alone and build the modern house separately elsewhere. Now the old cottage is suppressed by this monsterously huge modern building that suffocates its old world charm. The whole combo just looks awkward.
