Good video Iris! I'm so happy you're shedding a different light on the topic "find your passion": it can be different things, doesn't have to be one. Most important is that it interests and motivates you. I'm also happy you pointed out that 1 perfect passion is not for everyone, in fact it is only true for a small group of people. This insight will lower the amount of pressure people put on themselves. An insight some of my clients will benefit from I'm sure! Thanks again!

I like my job but I see that AI will demolish the industry I work in so I need to find something new that will outlast AI 😊 so I am looking for ways to change careers mid_life. Debating going back to school which might be crazy or might be great all depends on money in the end.

This video sounds like a good template for change. I just turned 56 in November and have fought age discrimination in the workplace since I turned 50. I'm unemployed at the moment and I'm in that lost place. I've had a love for the history of baseball and an interest in vintage baseball memorabilia. I'll incorporate the "3 steps" into some of my interests and see where it leads me. Thank you for the video. You look great btw. Do men jump when you snap your fingers like that? I would.

Hi Iris, thank you so much for sharing your tips. All feelings of recognition when you spoke of the group of people with multiple interests! That is so me! I like drawing, painting, writing, am interested in programming, interested in antropology and filosophy, like to build and craft. But with everything I feel like a failure. I am no where as good as the people who show their succes stories on social media. When I see stories, videos or photos I feel like I am no good and should spend more them on my hobbies to improve. But there is so much I want to do. Same career wise, I have had several jobs and now work as an officemanager (less flashy than it sounds 😉) and do all sorts of tasks, I am quick, understand computer programs quickly, work structured, am good at planning and monitoring. But unfortnately my career is 'cursed' with never being asked for a step up. I keep muddling in the undergrounds. And really, I have no ambition to be a manager or something like that, but I want to have tasks that really suit me, there is more to me than what my job asks of me now. So thanks for your tips.

Awesome ideas for finding your dream career! If after doing these steps, you realize that you have a love of photos, helping people, and preserving/sharing memories, you may want to consider becoming a professional photo manager. It's a growing field with a huge demand and the flexibility to make it your own.

This really hit home for me. The one thing I'm really passionate about is learning new things. That could be about thing's I already love doing, something about the culture of another country, or something completely random. This makes it difficult to find a job in the normal fashion because everyone learns all the time no matter what job you have.

I do not regret it

Great video, I enjoyed it. Yet regarding the Google search results ... you cannot directly correlate them with so called "search intent".

I'm not working much SEO work for clients nowadays but yes, Google is incorporating AI (Artificial Intelligence) to depict users' search intent. However, the results will be ranked based on best guessed search intent and will also show results for pages with just one of the search words entered (so for example, for "find" and "calling" if searching for "how to find my calling").

It's a completely different story when you enclose the search text in double quotes (actually typing them at the start and end, e.g. |"how to find my calling" | ). In this way, you are searching for the exact phrase. True, best results will be from websites that have optimised a certain page for that exact phrase yet they will still be better and more acceptable.

The thing that helped me was, listening to that little voice that told me "we need to do that." For me I'm very practical, and that can be a detriment at times, because it makes you do risk assessment over every big choice, and I stayed with the "safe" choice a lot. I finally listened to that voice that was nudging me, and I took the leap at 26, dropped my salary job, and went towards trade work. I've been more motivated and enjoyed my work way more.

The change of perspective really is the most prudent thing to do. And the way you phrased it really is motivating, for me anyways.
I get why people are suckers for success stories, be it a business or a carreer, but I am always much more interested in the figuratively speaking "mountain of corpses" left under the throne on the peak of their success story.

I turned 50 three days ago and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I am definitely one of those people who has a wide variety of different personal and professional interests and I made it a point to at least explore all of them to some degree, either personally or professionally. I wasn't necessarily looking for the holy grail, but you never know until you try, right? Interestingly, the more directions I went and things I did, the less clarity I found. In fact, each direction led to new discoveries, ideas and interests that I didn't expect or see coming, which evolved into a whirlwind of seemingly aimless exploration and adventures - some good, some bad. During this process I've moved around a lot, since certain things are geographically restricted, such as being near an ocean when I was learning to surf or becoming a pro poker player in Las Vegas, getting gigs as a musician in areas where nightlife exists, or just wanting to experience mountain, desert, jungle, island, woodland or plains living. You gotta be there to do it. So off I went. Lots of different cities, states, people, cultures, ecosystems. I even sold everything I owned and spent 7 years living in a car to make relocation easier and 14 months traveling overseas living out of a backpack, following wherever the path went, discovering more and more paths. From the outside, people thought I was crazy. Friends, family, everyone. People that had "figured out" and were doing what they "wanted" and some living lives forced upon them out of circumstance. To be fair, I certainly had little to no financial stability or certainty, and multiple relocations and job changes sure look like crap on a resume. But since I have no spouse or children, no harm, no foul. Then a few years in, those same people starting to ask for stories and pictures of my adventures. They envied my fearless crusade into the unknown and unfamiliar. When the pandemic happened I was totally exposed to its hindering effects on travel, freedom and a million other things. I was overseas at the time with nothing to come back to. It shot me right out of the sky and forced me into some retrospective downtime. So now I am (likely temporarily) back in an apartment in the midwest USA, regrouping. Looking back on the journey, I can't even describe the profound impact that lifestyle had on me. From eliminating my fears, anxiety and depression, revealing cold hard truths about myself and people around me, instilling self-confidence, self-awareness, a strong sense of accomplishment and well being. It's a hodgepodge, unique collection of amazing experiences that probably nobody else has ever or will ever have. Everything has become crystal clear. It's not about finding any one thing or any number of things. It's about following the journey, wherever it leads - fear and anxiety be damned. You're never guaranteed to get or find what you want, but definitely don't spend another ounce of energy on anything you don't want. We're all traveling down a dead end road. Take as many detours along the way as you can.

I didn’t search for this, it was recommended. Maybe YT hears me taking about how bored I am with my job and life generally. Over 30 years doing the same line of work and I have never enjoyed it, although I have enjoyed some teams I’ve worked with. At over 50 it feels too late to try and change now and I’m just holding out for retirement while trying to enjoy life while I have the money (earnings from my boring job!) to do so. Actually I’m probably not even doing as much living as I could 🥱 If I could go back and do it all again…

Hmm, my problem is it’s hard for me to find a job that doesn’t absolutely drain me (anything healthcare or customer service related), even though I’ve been really good at interacting with customers and patients

But on the other hand, data analytics is something that I’m just really bad at learning and I fall behind so quickly, so most desk jobs don’t work for me

And…. It feels like most jobs require either constant (with little or zero breathing space) interactions with clients/customers/patients, or constant math and data and analytics

So… idk what to do 🙃

Exactly this!!! The key is just go with what interests you more then 50 or 60% , or enough to go pursue that and it can take you to other interests in workfields where you have also interest in or even more interest. And it can give you courage to take that step because you allready on that path. Why not explore, why does it has to be one thing. That one thing believe started somewhere when we were young, with questions what is your dreamjob later on, and believing from those who had that one thing passion, that that is normal. And that there is something wrong with us. It creates pressure , anxiety, stress and it stops us on our tracks to just take a step. Thats all it takes, a step to work in a field that is in reach or feasible and motivates you enough, you like enough ( more then your current job). It needs a change of mindset, doing something that you like is always better then something you dont like or less, this helped me to take action on doing a course and quite my job as an nurse a year from now when i am employeed as an nailstylist. Yes doubting is a part of that believe system that has rooted in our brains. We need to find that one thing and passion. I was feeling sad and depressed again when i start doubting if i want to do this course. But then i thought, what do i like more: nurse or nailstylist and that simplifies it all❤
