Ah, I did just about everything wrong my first time out. Could get the damn leader to straighten out and it all kind of feel in a pile not too far from me. Got a little better as the day went but still aweful. See if things get better next time.
ОтветитьThis is probably one of the better fly fishing tutorials for new fly fisherman. Thanks!
ОтветитьYes, always where a hat n glasses..
ОтветитьAre you still doing one on one lessons? In Orlando
Ответитьim using fly line, its past the tip a long ways, but i still cant cast the fly more than about 40 feet out... and even then its cracking like a whip just to get it that far... its literally ripping the fly off the leader after a couple casts just to get it 40 or so feet out.... i have a 4 weight rod, boutght one fo the complete kits from sage with supposedly matching line and leader.. was like $700 and its been noting but problems, ive ever had any issues with cheapo spinning rods from the gas station... been fishing with those my whoole life and can cast ten times farther with a rod half as long... not sure what the issues are,, i cant really swing the rod any harder.... do i need to add weights to the fly? am i using too small of fly? im just trying to catch small trout in tiny alpine lakes and streams so im just using small flies.... is that all a light rod will cast? did i buy the wrong rod?
llooking from the back. what angle should my rod be out to the side? i started straight overhead and hooked myself, and i see you have yours out at an angle, but i cant tell how far angled from a side view... how far is it angled out from vertical to get an optimal cast? you look like youre doing more of a sidearm throw than an overhand throw... is that right? i am doing more of an overhand motion i think...
After watching this I completely changed the way I cast. I can go really far now. That one correction changed everything. Thank you for this video!
ОтветитьNew to this, watched a few videos so far and this one is by far the simplest explanation and demonstration. Great job with this one.
Ответитьwell said
Ответитьwizard
ОтветитьI just won a Redington Butter Stick at a raffle and have only ever used my cheap spinning rod. Thanks for the video!
ОтветитьBest explanation video ! Thanks!
ОтветитьThe only question I have is ….. 35 years in Florida never even heard of someone fly fishing there lol.
Ответитьgreat video, thorough quick and clear demonstration with great comparisons
Ответитьthe paintbrush example is absolutely brilliant I perfectly understood what you are trying to achieve sooo helpful thank you!
ОтветитьGreat video
Ответитьwow that paint analogy was genius , great teacher
ОтветитьSo how do you get the 25 feet of line out on the water before you cast?
ОтветитьGreat video thanks for making the video!!
ОтветитьThis is incredible 👏
ОтветитьWhy dont you pull the line in and out when you cast??
ОтветитьGreat video! This video should be reviewed over and over until beginners 'get it'. Nothing more beautiful than casting correctly.
I learned some of the basics from a guide when I went fly fishing for salmon on the Salmon River in New York. Got my first salmon -- a 19 pounder -- on my first day of fly fishing. What a great experience. The following week, I bought my first rod and reel.
Are you paul harrell brother?
ОтветитьPlease show how to get the line out straight to the water before casting. Especially in lakes where there is still water
Ответитьdoe you have a video for fly casting with heavy flies?
ОтветитьBack again as I haven't fished since... And I want to reiterate how decent this guy is at teaching. The thing about a paintbrush is great
ОтветитьThank you, great demonstration!
ОтветитьGood video
ОтветитьI'm new to fly fishing and I'm appalled at how badly I cast after watching this video! I will heading to the river this evening to work on my casting. Thank you!
ОтветитьEven your bad casts are better than my good casts. 🤦♂️
ОтветитьWatching your tutorial found myself a lot of mistakes, thank you very much for sharing
ОтветитьThanks for the tips. My dad was a professional guide and endorsed by orvis but he passed away and in my younger years I did not take advantage of his knowledge and now I’m trying flyfishing
ОтветитьI always wondered why fly fishing
ОтветитьThis video helped alot as ive never fly fished before barely even fished. Thank you
ОтветитьSolid effort fitting it all In
ОтветитьFirst video I've watched since deciding I'd love to undergo fly fishing. Seems like a video I'll continue to reference. Thanks for taking the time for us sir.
ОтветитьExcellent directions, I'm looking forward to implementing them! You have a new sub.
ОтветитьSpinner guys "Don't let the trout see your line!!! It spooks them..."
Fly Guys "Slap the whole rope on the water..."
You started with the line already in the water. Do you first strip line off the reel and pick up the line off the ground with the rod tip?
ОтветитьVery helpful!
ОтветитьMy brother in law had bought a fly rod without knowing how to use it I saw videos on how it's used and I really want to try to catch a fish with one so I bought one and I want to see if this is as fun as it looks
ОтветитьCan’t wait to try this out , saving your videos. Tuck river in North Carolina
ОтветитьThank you so much for your help
ОтветитьI love the paintbrush explanation. Best way I have heard a cast explained. Cheers from Newfoundland
ОтветитьGood job young man, come up to Canada and catch some beauty speckle trout.
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьNice clear tutorial
ОтветитьWatch all the videos you want, but there's no substitute for lessons, i was taught to cast by my dad when i was almost a teen, i last fly fished in 2005, now taking it up again and i had a 2 hour lesson the other day, i was soon over head casting, roll casting and hauling.
ОтветитьHey, Chris thank you, I had an epiphany watching this. I have been trying to teach myself and it isn't easy when your teacher knows nothing!
ОтветитьGreat video, subscribed, new to fly fishing your videos are helpful.
