I’m really glad that people enjoyed season 1. Season 2 will definitely be the test to see if they can deliver on the overarching narrative since season 1 is basically a prologue for the grand line. It’s the gathering of the adventuring crew before their grand quest.
Something Dan should know is that the beginning of the anime is actually different from the beginning of the manga. The live action kinda combines the 2. The manga starts with a chapter about Luffy’s backstory which I think is a lot more compelling than the anime, which starts with him fighting Alvida.
But you are right that the live action makes Luffy a lot more heroic. There’s a kinda famous line much later on in the series where Luffy basically says he’s not a hero, he’s a pirate, and he does things for his own self interests. The live action changes that side of him a bit, like when he frees Buggy’s prisoners or when he denies the townspeople’s food at first because they need it more than him. In the live action they say several times that Luffy isn’t a pirate and he’s just a kid in a straw hat (to which Luffy responds he’s just a different kind of pirate), but in the anime they don’t really make that distinction, Luffy is just a pirate.

I just buy in bulk from the Asian supermarket near me, tons of rice, tons of legumes. Then pick up some veggies. It's really inexpensive. If you're in the UK do not buy your herbs, grains and legumes from your regular supermarket. They charge so much, find an Asian market. Not sure if this applies for other countries.

Geez the prices where you are are steep, I could definitely get more for that much in the UK.
