You might want to look at a map of religious map of Northern Ireland, not that it normally matters but if you want to be extra careful, the Catholics will rather names for Ireland and Northern Ireland that relates them rather than separates them, the non Catholic Christians will prefer separating than combining Ireland with Northern Ireland.

Normally

People in Northern Ireland are not that kind and helpful as you speaking of. I was in Belfast with my friends before Brexit and we were lost, looking for train station so we kindly asked two taxi guys if they could help us by showing on map where we exactly are. But guys instead of telling us asked where are you from? When we said from Slovakia and we are on holidays here, they just said oh ok so go back home.. But when we travelled down to Dublin - Bray and Greystones than were people exactly kind talkative and happy to help with directions and telling you best spots to look for

Ok you've missed the most important thing which is just to be sensitive to the political situation on the island, particularly in NI, you fail to mention that NI is part of the UK. You made us sound like a version of the Korea situation which is not a comparison at all. Your comments are do far off the mark... "The main difference is the currency... and NI is much smaller than the South." Oh dear. I worry about people that listen to this and follow you.

In Republic people say you get back in Northern Ireland people say get you back in Republic people say that one in Northern Ireland people say that there one there. They say sentences backwards. In Northern Ireland people will call a massive shopping centre a wee shopping centre. Everything is wee😂

Same thing that ive been saying. I've traveled to many countries and Ireland was the most welcoming, friendliest, helpfful, talkative of all. I really felt soooooo welcome. Loved it so much I'm going back this year.

Thanks for this great intro to both Ireland and Northern Ireland. I haven’t visited any of them yet. But I am going for business to Belfast in 3 weeks and plan to stay a bit longer and explore both. I am a travel and landscape photographer. So I am excited to see some beautiful ocean sceneries.

Think the northern part has Stockholm syndrome. They started to bond with their captors and now identify as British. Always irish and always proud. If the uk would stop being greedy and give back our property our land.
Uk took many countries even America they were too greedy. Some have won their independence back and they celebrate it every year.
We're just the same. Ireland is a whole country. No republic. Where is northern ireland, where is Belfast. You will not find Belfast in the uk. Belfast is in Ireland.
You will need a ferry to visit belfast. Shouldn't have to if it's in the uk.
Forever irish and proud. 🍀🇮🇪💚

The difference between Ireland and Northern Ireland is that Northern ireland is british, and Ireland is home to actual Irish folk

An explanation about the confusion; Éire (Irish language) and Ireland are our official constitutional names. We do not call ourselves the Republic of Ireland - some Irish people themselves are ignorant of this fact. We can be referred to as the Republic of Ireland externally, so as to differentiate us from the geographical island of Ireland.

As far as im aware, England do not recognise us as Ireland, only the Republic of Ireland officially.

Irish people, embarrassingly, get this wrong too, because our soccer team, not the actual effing State, are called the Republic of Ireland. Actually, we're to blame too.

Northern Ireland is its own official name as an entity.

I went to Ireland on a solo trip in 2022. It was WONDERFUL! I absolutely fell in love with the people. I stayed mostly on small towns. Fennit was by far my favorite on the West Coast. And I also fell in love with Belfast. It was the last place I went before taking the ferry to Scotland and it kind of reminded me of my hometown of Louisville KY. A city, but not as fast paced as say Dublin and a bit more spread out. Everyone should visit. The people are the real draw in both Countries. ❤

For the visitors who drove in Ireland-- how did you adapt to using the left side of the road? That seems a monumental hurdle to me, coming from a "right-handed" country. Maybe there's VR training software I can learn from! Given that, is public transit as fabulously reliable as in most of Europe?

I would imagine that in Northern Ireland the accents differ between Protestants and Catholics just as much as (if not more than) between urban and rural areas or between different regions.

Republic of Ireland has a higher standard of living and a written constitution.
The Irish written constitution, unlike the UK, states that the Government guarantees treat all the children of the state equally.
