The term "replicate" is to make a copy. So,artifice can't create the items on that list from nothing, they must have a original from which to make a copy. Yes?

can an artificer build himself a mechanical arm to replace the one he lost?

Artifice should have a lightning 🌩 rod that grounds lightning and makes the resistant or at higher levels immune to lightning 🌩 and electricity damage. They should also have a laser cannon that intercepts incoming missile weapons and damage. The spells end up blowing up in the casters face, like fire ball. They should also have a sound 🔊 noise canceling cannon that silences a caster. They should also have a visible laser gun that blinds a target 🎯 (2000s sniper scope blinder, that Bush canceled as inhumane). A microwave maser, like the Ray guns that fry artificer creations and heats up metal items that have to be dropped. Maybe thermal or radio wave decoys that screw up undead 🧛‍♀️ 🧟‍♂️ senses so that can not target 🎯 enemies. Also the old double barrel muzzle loader pistons could be an improvement on the single shot muzzle loader piston. There were also muzzle loader pistons that hand a small bayonet at the end for melee fighting. Also the artillery could have a shaped charge warhead that ignore armor or skin toughness. An upgrade to the cannon could be a laser designator that makes the shots never miss with a targeting control system. Maybe the heat microwave causes a concentration check of concentration spells for the target 🎯.

I had a Tortle Storm-Herald Barbarian that was a Shipwright in one campaign that multiclassed into Artificer to go for Artillerist and he was a BEAST!!!! Not only did he already have a decently high AC, but getting access to Shield to jump it up 5 points made him nearly a tank, and the Range weakness of Barbarians was no longer an issue thanks to my Cannon. Since I was a big boi and the cannons were small, I made a harness that allowed the cannon to rest on my shoulder like the Predator's.

During a major battle against an army of vampire thralls, I was firing off FireBolts and Magic Missiles as my action as my cannon blasted it's Force Shots, but hte moment I got into Melee, it was a Flamethrower and I Raged. Swinging with a Maul for my action, Spewing Fire as a Bonus Action, and sniping a random dude with my lightning aura on my turn, all while I was hardly ever to be hit, and even so reduced damage, I was a walking tank that no one could touch~!!!

Tool proficiency... my artificer is better than our lock using thieves tools to unlock stuff.

Easier way to pick up extra cantrips either picking feats. But choosing high elf or variant human with the right feat let you choose a cantrio or two. Magic Initiate and spell Sniper give you a couple.

One interesting option would e a necrromancung artificer; I am thinking og the Forge Masters making night creatures in Castlevania
That would be a dark way to go.

There are some mice feats that give you extra cantrips or Spells , like magic Initiate (@wizzard seems appropiate). Artificer Initiate is good, so is spell Sniper. I got online artificer initiate, Resilient and. Keen Mind. Fey touched or shadow touched would be others I am looking at. Wonder if warcaster is worth it.
Mending is a must cantrip with Fireball or poison spray?
Also you can change infusions if you get a bag of holding and know that replication.

I convinced my DM to let me use the stats of a harengon but skin my character as a raccoon. I did not name him Rocket, but he is smart and brash and not averse to theft if he wants something more than you do. And I am having so much fun playing him. Then again, DND 5e has 2 kinds of cats, 3 kinds of birds, elephants, hippos, rabbits, turtles, 3 kinds of fish, frogs, snakes, horses, monkeys, cows, lizards, why not a raccoon? Get with it WotC.

Main power of artificer in my opinion is how creative the dm can be with tool systems, otherwise a big part of the kit is made obsolete. I find the tool sheets off gm binder are really cool.

I have a question for everyone. I'm a DM in a campaign that is magic-user light. The character party hired an artificer to remain in their lair and create gadgets to help them out. He is first level and was unsuccessful at business (mostly due to his poor social skills--charisma 5) so he was willing to work for the party to not starve. I envisioned him as kind of a Q character to the party's James Bonds. He'll obviously go up in level very slowly. What is the best way for him to help the party when they are at middle levels?

my battle smith artificer would use enlarge / heat metal on the steel defender (who was just a little monkey guy) to become a big, red hot gorilla and has been dubbed winton overwatch. and yes ik those spell’s require concentration but i said no bc its funny

I've been contemplating a Warforged Battle Smith Artificer/Echo Knight and making the Steel Defender another humanoid construct (which many DMs allow for a steel defender) so it looks like myself. First, there seems to be two of me.... until I summon an echo and now it looks like there are four of me! Really two of me with gear and two steel defenders that look like me but without gear. But I can give my defender a ring of spell storing to cast spells. Playing on a map with figures, I'd have to buy 4 figures of myself. I'd have up to 4 bodies (including myself) able to move around the battlefield to flank opponents to give advantage on attacks! Not to mention confusing the enemy with what looks like 4 of me, and being able to switch bodies with my echo, etc. Hail and well met, travelers! I am Reginald the Several, at your service.

I’m trying to make one Dragonborn character of each class, which meant I had to eventually understand the artificer more as I still highly believe it’s one of the more complex classes.

So far I’ve got a fighter, monk, barbarian, sorcerer, warlock, rogue, and now an artificer

The Artificer is a great tag-along NPC for the DM who’s feeling itchy. It’s also a terrific character class for a mid-level and up solo adventure.

It amazes me that everyone always thinks steam punk with this class. Personally I see someone who makes magic objects without the steampunk theme.

The video is 3 years old but recently I have been playing an artificer for the water deep heist campaign with my two other friends and our third friend dming they are somewhat loose on the rules and thus far my experience has been interesting to say the least and I feel like the artillerist is very decently strong early (we are lvl 4) and my DM allowed me to have firearm proficiency so I've been rocking a "prototype hunting rifle" effectively it's just a musket with a five round reload as well as a dagger and a basic pistol I don't remember what it's called and as far as the spells go it is very easy to play with cuz you can pack a little bit of support with your damaging spells and it comes in very handy I for the most part have just been using arcane weapon and grease for my spells along with fairy fire as I can only cast three spells those are the ones I find using the most out of my prepared list and honestly the only time I cast anything other than those three was once to use catapult. Out of each of the combats that we've had since I'm mostly playing like a sniper I found that my infusions on myself were worse than putting them on my allies were in The fray and the two that I find the most helpful is giving the paladin a bonus to the AC with an infusion and giving my druid the kenai helm so they can succeed the Constitution save for their concentration at clutch moments as far as the cannons go I never find myself using the flame Cannon as I don't need the AOE killing my allies as they are not the best at positioning so I can't vouch for how strong it is but being able to snipe 120 ft away with an Eldritch Cannon Force ballista is amazing and if you're in a close quarters fight The protector gives a ton of free HP for my character with a +4 bonus to intelligence the average temporary HP per creature is 8 so for our three-man party getting a free 24 HP per round is insane Lee helpful and now knowing that the extra damage guy for the Eldritch Canon and flamethrower apply to it I think it will continue to be helpful up to level 10 at which point it'll start to fall off has the health bonus from it doesn't provide a comparativly high amount of your HP. I would suggest picking it up

I need a cantrip bonus action spell for artificer alchemist.

I know this is an older one but I'm researching the possibility of mixing battle master and artificer in some way

Seems like this is a great fit for the Gnomes of Dragonlance.
They are rebels from Mt. Nevermind who get along well with Knights because they are very practical.

Very interesting to come back to this after seeing how artificers have been built by the community after these years.

I took the fire bolt cantrip and as an artificer, i describe it as a holly-wood revolver, that never runs out of bullets, i mean a d10 ranged attack up to 120 feet every action for a 1st level spell caster is way cool. and a to-hit roll, is way better than a saving throw. And a mountain dwarf gets hammer and axe from racial, though i do wish gnome's got a better deal if they became artificers.

What is the general opinion of the sub classes in Keith Bakers book Exploring Eberron for the artificer?

I made a kobold battlesmith artificer. He has a steel guardian fashioned after a lizardfolk companion who died in battle. A homunculous who is a tin winged monkey. (Had to have a good joke)

Ok so get this :pixie, artificer who only makes explosives... you can see where I'm going with this.

I'm a completely new player, I'm going to take a gamble and play this class for my first campaign. Your videos are very helpful!

Thanks for the video, kind of new to DnD and I've never played Artificer so this was very helpful. My DM is pretty chill, so yeah I think he will allow 6 items.
The only time I've ever given him pause, was when he told me that I couldn't wish for more wishes but I could wish for a ring of three wishes. So I wished for a pouch full of Rings of Three Wishes. He granted it and I ended up with 60 wishes, but I think he's going to ban being able to do that again.

I love the Homunculus cause I use it as a free BA spell. I make it hold my dagger filled with catapult spells.
