This is also a perfect example on why it’s so important to have an interpreter in the healthcare scenario.
ОтветитьI’m not a CODA, but growing up with immigrant parents, I had to go to doctor appointments to translate all the time. Years later, now I have a daughter and she is deaf, so I guess the translating continues 🤣 I feel like I need to go ahead and just become an interpreter.
ОтветитьNever laughed so much in a long time. I was laughing for 5 minutes straight after watching this scene
ОтветитьAnd you're telling that THIS FILM beat DUNE for best picture? That is bullshit!!!
ОтветитьI really do not like the mom. She just comes off narcissist to me. Even in Switched at Birth her character sucked. Idk why this actress always gets cast as a bitchy deaf mom, she deserves better
ОтветитьHow they all weren't nominated for acting awards is beyond me. And to think that Emilia Jones was only 17.
ОтветитьThere was a similar scene in Desperate Housewives years ago - ironically Marlee Matlin was the deaf parent. The only difference was the child was much younger.
ОтветитьWhy isn't the English captioned?
ОтветитьThis is exactly why doctors offices can't rely on the Deaf person to bring their own interpreters. It's the doctors responsibility.
ОтветитьIf someone wants to see the original movie it is called "La famille Bélier" and it is really great. Would recommend and before Hollywood copies even more classical french movies there is one called "Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu?" Which is the funniest movie I have ever seen and it is even funnier if you are from an immigrand family.
ОтветитьAs a kid who grew up in an immigrant home, I have to translate everything, doctors appointments, taxes and official government documents and most of the time I don’t even know what they be saying and it’s so hard to translate it
ОтветитьThat's the most colorful medical description ever.😂🤣😂
ОтветитьI remember a couple of days after the Oscars, I decided to give this movie a shot, not knowing what to expect. I started watching it around 1am...I ended up very loudly laughing out loud at this scene....and then had to pause and go back and watch it a few times until all tears of laughter came out. I died it was so funny. Love this movie.
ОтветитьOMG🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьThe real unsung actor is the Dr. lol He is like, what the heck are you telling them? hahaha
ОтветитьVery embarrassing the daughter doesn't want to know what his dad as his things.. poor mother, think no sex for 2 weeks... is very impossible..
Ответитьwatched on Apple TV w/ xfinity ..be nice if all the subtitles loaded in time before they disappear.
Ответитьlol
ОтветитьOh my god its amazing... 🥰🥰🥰
ОтветитьThis film is so relatable for so many people. So glad its getting well deserved recognition! ❤️❤️😍
ОтветитьWhaat show is this?
ОтветитьThis is a wonderful film with stellar actors. So glad they won the best picture Oscar they so deserved. It is a crime their moment was tainted by Will Smith.
ОтветитьThis scene made it so easy to believe this couple was madly in love. Loved the film.
ОтветитьTroy Kotsur is hilarious
ОтветитьI got athletes foot and jock itch in college. It wasn't as bad as what he described tho 🤣
ОтветитьI can’t🤣🤣🤣👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
ОтветитьThat ASL sign for barnacles is so graphic and hilarious.
ОтветитьI feel like the dad being very blunt and open about their jock itch is a very deaf culture thing, am I wrong? 😆
ОтветитьAll of us CODAS HOWLING
ОтветитьFor those saying why this got an award because it was a remake?...Happens all the time. Remember the Departed? That movie was a total remake. In my opinion, the original was better then the Hollywood remake as well.
ОтветитьSo american... They can't read subtitles so they have to remake movies from other countries... RIP la famille Bélier, RIP Intouchable.
ОтветитьThis film is such a cringy version of the French one. This scene is just a perfect example: the girl here doesn't even translate anything. Why is she even there? Plus, she's always annoyed. "Boudeuse". Always. The girl in the French movie does translate his father's symptoms and is super cool.
ОтветитьThis film has finally pushed me to learn sign language.
ОтветитьBasically a remake of the French movie La Famille Bélier... exact same scene, same plot... but wow i guess.
ОтветитьIs that Robin Williams?
ОтветитьFor how long???
Never again. For your whole life.
😲😦😧
Just kidding two weeks.
Hahaha 😂😂
My wife is an MD, and this may not be true in all hospitals/clinics or all states, but family members/friends are forbidden from being the translator for medical information to or from the patient(s). They HAVE to use a hospital-supplied translator who has had medical info training, otherwise the Doc has no way to know what is being translated accurately. It's considered a form of malpractice.
ОтветитьThe comedic timing is great 😂
ОтветитьIs this the family belier?
ОтветитьWatch Ruby's face when her parents object to " two weeks".. lol
Ответить😂😂😂
ОтветитьLanguage barriers are real
ОтветитьSlap
ОтветитьCongrats to The Belier Family for winning an oscar!
ОтветитьThis movie is too similar in some aspects, to "La Famille Belier". A French movie of 2014
ОтветитьJust saw this movie, and I was really moved! Such a beautiful movie!
